CHAPTER 808: 808: DIVINE GAME- CARD SWAP 57
Just before boarding the shiphouse, Rita suddenly tugged on the wide sleeve of GodDraw77’s robe. When the latter looked over, she asked with complete sincerity, "Can I learn it? That ability where no one can evade our investigation or tracking."
GodDraw77 chuckled at that "our." She realized that whenever she talked to this student, her hands always got itchy. She didn’t hold back—raising one hand to lightly smack the top of Rita’s head. "Go on. Enjoy your champion’s moment."
Not that there was much to enjoy. Her close friends were still stuck in the stands, unable to come down. Once a Divine Game started, the spectators and waiting players were kept apart to prevent any overly emotional fans from doing something foolish.
Still, Rita remembered what both Lightchaser and GodDraw77 had said: she represented Moonlight Marsh.
So she stayed on the deck with patience until half the audience had left before she finally hurried toward her room.
It was already dinner time, but Rita had no intention of eating with her classmates. The atmosphere was just too strange. Third- and fourth-year students worshiped her, but the older fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-years looked at her with something far more complicated—especially the sixth-years, who had been in the same year as the two students she’d killed. They were downright cold.
Not that this attitude could bother Rita. As Lightchaser put it: "If everyone likes you, you should ask yourself if you’ve been using too many healing skills."
She had barely shut her door when someone knocked. Rita stomped over in irritation and yanked it open.
Standing outside were two upper-year students who never joked around.
Looking uneasy, they asked to buy back their backpacks with credits.
Rita’s expression softened a bit. Good—at least her schoolmates weren’t the kind of idiots who tried moral blackmail.
Once they transferred 200 credits through the backpack, Rita returned them—though she kept the odd clock relic, [Time is Ticking], from one of the girls. It was useful.
After sending them off, Rita hung a [Resting] sign on her door and rushed to her desk.
First, she pulled off her left glove. The black flames of [Wrathful Moon] vanished, proof that the annihilation had indeed ended.
She opened her private messages, found Lightchaser in her friends list, and sent a quick, "You there?" without much hope.
As expected, there was no reply. Lightchaser was like some antique from a bygone era—she only checked her mailbox, never private messages.
Closing the display, Rita shoved thoughts of her aside and pulled out her rewards.
[Skill Modifier – Fun Match Champion]: Allows you to change one number in any skill, or one word that does not involve time (time units will automatically update to match the duration).
"No words involving time." No loopholes. When Rita had read the first half of the sentence, she’d immediately thought about changing the duration of [School Rule No. 801] from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
Still, it was already excellent. One number, no restriction on skill rank—worthy of a Fun Match Champion prize.
The gold-threaded dice had six faces: -3, -2, -1, +1, +2, +3.
To change a number, you had to roll it.
This thing... smelled like a trap.
Before she came to this world, Rita had been just a grade-schooler, but her gaming experience was vast. She could spot a pay-to-win scam instantly.
Even with three dice, she’d have to be careful.
She set the dice down and first made herself a Summer Snowman with a snowball, placing it beside her—ready for a rollback if she didn’t like the result.
Only after that did she go through all her current skills in her head. Not many were worth changing.
With [School Rule No. 801] in hand, the long cooldowns of [Mystic Force] and [Moment of Reversal] were no longer a real issue. And really, instead of shortening [Mystic Force]’s cooldown, why not change the "1%" in "health will instantly drop to 1%"?
Ah, a sharper mind really was a blessing.
Still... the optimal move was to further shorten [School Rule No. 801]’s cooldown.
Aside from that, she wanted to increase the number of snowmen she could carry with [Summer Snowman], and raise the daily brew limit of [Wrong Season]. Three drinks a day was far too few.
After a moment’s hesitation, Rita decided to start with [Wrong Season].
The cooldown on [School Rule No. 801] could be reduced with relics or items, but the drink limit on [Wrong Season] couldn’t be touched by any tools. The long-term benefit was far greater.
She had already achieved her goal for this year and would fight tooth and nail for the individual championship, but her sights were already on next year’s Divine Game.
If she could make more drinks each day, the odds of getting [Wrong Season] would also rise. Over a year, that could mean at least a hundred extra attribute points.
She selected [Wrong Season] and gently tossed the die.
It rolled a few times, then—whether by beginner’s luck or design—landed on a positive number. Not just positive, but +2!
[Wrong Season]: Consume seasonal ingredients to brew one drink. Limit five drinks per Starsea day.
Rita jumped up, so excited she punched the air in a messy flurry.
Sitting back down, she rubbed her hands together and picked up another die. This time, she targeted [School Rule No. 801]’s fifteen-minute cooldown, aiming for the "5."
The die rolled a few times and stopped on +1.
She waited over twenty seconds to make sure it wouldn’t affect [Wrong Season], then grabbed the snowman and rolled back time.
But... [School Rule No. 801]’s description was unchanged!
The Divine Game reward couldn’t be cheated!
Rita let her forehead slam onto the desk.
After a long pause, she opened her private messages, found Lightchaser again, and typed angrily, "This game is crap."
At this point, she was using Lightchaser’s PM channel as a hollow tree to yell into.
Still, rather than ruin another skill, she might as well gamble. Her Luck was 10, after all.
She tossed the die again...
-3?
-3!!!
[School Rule No. 801]’s cooldown was now only thirteen minutes?! With Reyhana’s [Stop Waiting], that dropped to ten minutes and twenty-four seconds!
Every ten minutes, she could unleash her ultimate without restraint and refresh all her key cooldowns at once...
What did that mean?
It meant she was no longer Little Lightchaser.
From now on, everyone would have to call her Big Rita, the Lightchaser.
Rita opened her PMs again and sent Lightchaser a new message by hand: "This game’s actually kind of fun."
