CHAPTER 2: CHAPTER 2: THE WHEEL OF FATE TURNS—A THOUSANDFOLD RETRIBUTION!
Two years later, at the airport, a plane slowly prepared to land. The exterior of the plane was painted with custom designs, clearly indicating it was a private jet. Tourists disembarking from other planes enviously said, "Rich people, huh. Isn’t it true that the pilots of rich people’s jets are usually handsome?"
"The designs on the fuselage seem to be ones that girls like."
"Must be a mistress kept by some rich person."
"You’re just jealous!"
The sounds at the airport were roaring. Looking down from above, the people coming and going appeared as small as ants. The private jet landed, and the woman sitting in the cockpit completed the final actions. After reporting over the intercom, she took a deep breath, adjusted all the switches, and finally took off her headset. She whistled to the man sitting behind her, "We’ve arrived."
The man was wearing an eye mask, resting with his eyes closed. Because the mask covered his eyes, only half his face was visible. The slight part of his lips indicated he was breathing, looking as if he was taking a nap.
He was nudged by the woman. He removed the eye mask and asked in a deep voice, "Have we arrived?"
"Yes."
The woman rubbed her hand, "After flying for over ten hours, I’m exhausted."
"I can’t believe I’m still alive," the man brushed off imaginary dust, a rogue smile playing on his fair face.
He had a pair of very cold eyes, devoid of emotion even when he smiled, "Iris Crawford, your pilot’s license didn’t go to waste. To be honest, I bought a huge insurance policy just for taking your flight."
"..." Iris rolled her eyes, "What a shame nothing happened."
She briskly got off the plane. After handling all the formalities, servants followed behind carrying luggage. The first thing she did after returning home was to find her good friend.
So when Iris stood beautifully at the door of Lois Lawson’s house, it shocked Lois so much that she jumped up as she opened the door, "You, you, you! How did you come back?! Without saying a word?"
Although Lois knew Iris wasn’t dead, her successful weight loss and sudden return to the country really gave her quite a shock. Lois was tongue-tied, "How did you get here?"
Iris said, "I flew here."
Flying directly across the ocean like it was a casual drive to the grocery store...
"..." Lois gaped, "Speak properly."
"I’m serious." Iris casually tossed her beautifully curled voluminous black hair and smiled dazzlingly, "I heard Jordan Jacobs is getting married today? I’m here for the feast."
Lois glanced Iris up and down. Now slim and beautiful, there was no trace of the sick and overweight appearance from before.
If Iris stood in front of Jordan Jacobs at this moment, he probably wouldn’t even recognize her.
As a friend, Lois tentatively asked, "Going to his wedding, are you alright?"
After all, that man was the Jordan Jacobs she hated the most...
The one who coldly watched her die, Jordan Jacobs...
Iris laughed, though it was unclear at whom she was laughing.
A piercing pain came from her heart, making her instinctively clench her fingers.
Even after two years, she still couldn’t control her emotions when faced with anything concerning Jordan Jacobs. Pain mingled with a suffocating feeling surged in her throat, her eyes reddening with hate in each word as she said, "I’m doing great, actually. It’s him who should be worried."
The wheel of fortune turns, Jordan Jacobs, what you owe me, I will make you repay a thousand times over!
