It hurt so much. The pain overwhelmed Ste. She thought she’d never have to go through something like this again, but she never expected she’d get caught up in it once more.
Ste screamed in her mind, ‘Anna! Once I get out of here, I won’t let her get away with this.‘
“Still so stubborn, huh? Not even a peep out of her after all that,” one of the women sneered.
Just then, the leader of another group swaggered over, giving them a contemptuous look. “You call those methods? Can’t even handle a girl. What a bunch of losers.”
This leader had slightly longer hair, so Ste just named her Long, while the other one with shorter hair was short.
Ever since Ste showed up, the two of them had starteding up with new ways to mess with her.
Short wasn’t about to back down. She shot back, “Oh? So you think you’re all that? Why don’t you show us, then?”
Long said, “I can, but what if I win?”
Short said, “If you win, it’s simple. All our dishes for today go to you, and we’ll only have some bread.”
“Alright, then. I won’t show mercy on you,” Long replied.
Long gave a signal to one of herckeys, who somehow managed to find a needle and, without warning, jabbed it straight into Ste.
This was nothing like acupuncture. Acupuncture targeted specific points and didn’t really hurt. It just left people with a dull, aching
sensation.
But this was different. Each needle went in one after another, and the pain was so sharp that Ste’s tears started flowing uncontrobly.
What was even more different was that this time, Ste couldn’t help herself–she cried out loud.
Long looked smug. “See that? You gotta use your head in life. Clearly, that’s not your strong suit.”
Short was pissed–her intelligence had just been insulted.
Ste thought maybe they’d turn on each other and leave her alone for a bit, but to her dismay, Short ended up taking all her anger out on
Ste instead.
“Move away!” Short ordered Long’sckeys to move, snatched the needle from her hand and drove it hard into Ste. Again and again, she stabbed Ste, taking out all her rage like she’d lost her mind.
Ste was in so much pain that she almost passed out.
Everyone here seemed used to this kind of thing. There wasn’t a hint of sympathy for Ste. In fact, they actually found Short’s behavior kind
ofughable.
Long watched for a bit, and when she saw Ste had passed out, she said, “Enough. If you keep going like this, we won’t get our money. She’ll end up dead before we even get paid,”
Short suddenly snapped back to her senses. She nced at Ste lying on the ground, and then gave her a hard kick. “Pathetic. She passed out from just that?” she mocked.
Ste was brutally yanked back to consciousness by a bucket of ice–cold water thrown over her. The searing pain all over her body was a

cruel reminder of everything she’d just endured.
Short waited for Ste to beg for mercy, but there was still not a hint of surrender in her eyes. Ste kept staring at everyone in the room, as if bshe /bwere burning their faces into her memory.
But none of the nearly fifteen people there even cared. They were used to acting like they owned the ce in prison. After all, most of the people sent here never got out. Anyone with a shot at freedom would never end up here.
Even if they killed someone, as long as it didn’t bother the guards, the guards would just turn a blind eye. Instead, they actually thought Ste was ridiculous for looking at them that way.
Short suddenly had an idea. She grinned wickedly and said, “So you think you can keep quiet, huh? This time, I’ll make iyou /ilose all hope.”
She ordered, “Drag her over here.”
Ste couldn’t walk anymore. Her whole body was battered and bruised. She was only a little better than when she first got back, and she knew if she didn’t grit her teeth and tough it out, she wouldn’tst much longer.
She had to hang in there. She was sure that once Jordan found out she was in trouble, he’de for her. So she just kept waiting.
When Ste was dragged into the bathroom, her body jolted with fear. “Wh–What are you going to do?” she demanded, her voice trembling.
Short grinned smugly. “So you’re not as fearless as iyou /ipretend to be, huh? Looks like you do have something to be scared of.”
She motioned to her crew, and a couple of them pinned Ste down. Ste’s body reacted on its own, struggling desperately against them.
The prison bathroom was nothing like the ones on the outside. Even though some inmates got punished by being forced to clean it, there were always some nasty people who went out of their way to smear shit everywhere, making it absolutely disgusting.
Right now, the ce hadn’t been cleaned up yet, and Short was dead set on making Ste suffer through every bit of that nastiness.
Ste could grit her teeth through all kinds of torture, but this was just too revolting. It made her feel like she wasn’t even human anymore, like all her dignity had been stripped away.
Ste thought desperately, ‘No, I can’t do this!‘ She wanted to fight back, but she waspletely drained. She couldn’t possibly stand up to
them at all.
They held her down, ughing mercilessly at her. “Aren’t you always acting all tough? Well, people like us know exactly how to break someone like you. Let’s show you what happens when you mess with us!”
They grabbed Ste by the head and shoved her face right toward the disgusting mess.
Just when Ste was about to give up hope, someone suddenly shouted, “Ste Hayes, someone’s here to get you out!”
Everyone looked at each other in confusion and wondered, ‘Ste Hayes? Who’s that?‘
The guard saw that Ste was about to be shoved into the toilet and instantly knew those women were behind it. He hurried over and
yanked Ste away from them.
He said, “Just you wait. She’s about to be released, and when that happens, every single one of you will be doomed.”
He hurriedly scooped Ste into his arms. Her body was a mess, battered and covered in wounds from head to toe.
Honestly, it was nothing short of a miracle. This was death row–Bo one ever got out of here.
When Ste was first brought in, nobody really knew what she’d done. They’d just been told to keep her here until the case came through.
This kind of thing was all toomon. After all, there were dark corners in this world where things like this just happened.
The person who came for Ste was definitely not ordinary. As the guard carried Ste out, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his days as a prison guard were numbered. –
Long and Short were both in total shock. This was the first time they’d ever seen something like this. They thought, ‘She actually got rescued? Just like that?
‘Then, what about us? Sure, we always knew we’d die here sooner orter, but this fast? No way. This has to be a joke, right?‘
The moment Ste was carried out, Jordan and Kevin felt like they were seeing the same Ste who had just been rescued after being kidnapped–broken, battered, and lost.
They hadn’t witnessed that nightmare back then, but now, seeing her like this with their own eyes, they could vividly imagine just how horrific it must have been.
Kevin felt heartbroken. In just twenty–four hours, Ste had been reduced to this–so changed, so hurt, it was almost unbearable to look at
her.
Jordan carried Ste into his arms, and the moment he held her, he could feel just how weak she was. Even her hair, which had only just started to grow back, was now chopped up and messy.
There were spots where her scalp showed through, the hair hacked off unevenly. The bleeding had stopped, but the fresh cuts and jagged lines were impossible to miss.
Jordan looked her over as best he could. Even without seeing everything, he could tell that Ste had suffered every kind of torment in that ce.
Jordan thought, ‘How dare they hurt my precious Ste like this!‘ He wanted nothing more than to kill everyst one of them with his own
hands.
