CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER 70 MY MAN

*ALORA*

Esme also noticed the tone of her daughter’s voice.

“Ellie, what’s wrong with you?”

Ellie eyed me, stared at my outstretched hand and then stormed off.

Esme quickly apologized.”I’m so sorry, she must be tired from the flight and all. Please forgive her manners.”

I frowned, that definitely didn’t seem like being tired from a flight.

“It’s okay.” I beamed at Esme knowing very well that Ellie wasn’t just tired and cranky.

She hates me.

*****************

And I got to know why when she walked up to me at the living room later that day. I was seated, still going through my script when she came over to stand in front of me, she clapped as if announcing her presence.

I glanced up at her, squarely.

“Do you love him?” She asked, coldly.

I huffed. “Do I owe you an explanation?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t. I don’t owe you an explanation so fuck off.” I snapped.

I might like Esme but I won’t tolerate disrespect from anyone.

“The only person who needs to fuck off from this house is you!”

I gasped.

She really has it bad for me.

“What do you have against me, Ellie? You don’t even know me. Except from maybe watching my movies.”

“Yes, I’ve watched a few movies of yours and I always admired your acting skills. I didn’t think my path would one day cross with yours. Well, you just asked what I have against you, let me spell it out for you, you’re currently legally married to my man!“

That made me laughed.”Your man?“

“Yes.” She seethed.

“I think if Caden was in a committed relationship to someone else, he wouldn’t have married me or is this one sided?” I mocked.

She looked slapped. “Watch your tongue!”

I grimaced. “Oh it is. You love him and I’m guessing he doesn’t.”

“He does. He just doesn’t know it yet.”

I bit back a laugh.

“You can laugh all you want now but let me warn you, it’ll be better for you if you heed my warning. I don’t believe you two are truly married. Before your marriage day, there were no dating rumors about you and him. Even my mom said he never brought you to the house until now. So I’m guessing this marriage might just be a sham, maybe you two made a deal or something, I can’t say I understand the ways of people like you but I just want you to focus on the deal. Do not try to make your stay permanent here. You’re the beautiful actress, Alora, you can have any man you want, just not my Caden. Caden is mine. He’s always been mine and he’ll always be mine.”

Now I was really starting to get upset by how possessive she was of him.

Who was she to call him ‘mine’?!

“We can be friends if you tell me the real reason why you married him.” She offered.

I eyed her. “I don’t need your friendship, little girl. And you sound so overly confident that you could be Caden’s wife someday.”

“I will be. And that is why I need me and you to be on the same page, why did you marry him?”

“Like I said before, I owe you no...”

I was cut short when she suddenly squealed and scurried off.

“Caden!” She called running up to him.

Sighing, I turned around on the sofa to see that he had just gotten home.

She practically jumped on him, hugging him, tightly.

I have no idea when my heart jumped as well and why I felt so angry and something else...something I didn’t want to admit.

I wasn’t jealous!

I continued watching them, rolling my eyes.

Why was he letting her hug him like that?!

I saw him disengaged from her and he fucking smiled at her.

Does he like her?

“Look at you...all grown up.”He teased, ruffling her hair.

I tried to figure out that gesture.

I think he sees her as a little sister or something.

“Yeah...I’m so much more matured now.”She purred, doing a twirl for him.

Ugh.

My teeth clenched.

“You missed my graduation! How could you?!” She yelled, punching him lightly on the belly.

Gosh, I don’t like how close they seem to be.

“I’m sorry. My schedule’s been tight these past couple of days.”

“Is that enough to miss my graduation?”She pouted, giving him puppy eyes.

Ahh, she was really trying so hard.

“I’ve apologized. You have to forgive me.”

She smiled at him. “I’ll think about forgiving you.”

He nodded and gave her a mock bow. “Thanks for your leniency.”

Oh God, I’m feeling nauseous.

“On a serious note,I’m proud of you, Ellie. Graduating with excellent results, top of your class, it’s amazing. Congratulations.”

She smiled, moving her legs and looking so shy.

“Thank you.”

“Have you thought about where to work?”

“Why are you asking? Do you want me to come work for you?” She was bating her eyelashes at him now.

He shrugged.”If you want to. You just have to tell me where you’re interested in working and I’ll get your employment fixed.”

She placed her hand on his shoulder, pretending to be rubbing something off him.

What the hell?!

“What am I going to ever do without you, Caden? You’re such a big blessing to me.”

“It’s nothing.”

“About working, I’ll have to put that on hold for now. I just want to take a few months to myself to relax and have fun before deciding on a job.”

More like taking time off to torment me!

I couldn’t decide what was worse.

She working for Caden and being around him at his company or spending every hour in this house trying to get him to be hers.

This was so annoying.

And then he finally glanced at my direction.

“Hey.”He waved at me, awkwardly.

Hey?

Just hey?

I nodded at him and looked away, turning back to my script.

“I have to go freshen up now.” I heard him say to her and then his footsteps started fading away.

“See that.” Ellie purred walking closer to me. “We have chemistry.”

“Chemistry, my foot.” I snapped.

She glared at me and stormed off.

I leaned against the sofa,angrily.

She should have just remained in school?

Maybe until Caden and I’s marriage was over.

How was I supposed to put up with that brat?
