CHAPTER 419: GET BACK TO HIM-II

Arabella watched Wendy’s figure sway. Her face had inflated in matters of seconds, her expression twisting in such agony that it was far too frightening to look at. Her bloody figure seemed to be a sight that Wendy had never expected.

Arabella couldn’t tell how many curses Wendy had used on her but the fact that in such rapid moment the scent of rotten flesh had filled the large hall explained how vicious those curses were. Although some of the curses that Wendy had used to her still hadn’t taken effect, if it did, she couldn’t imagine kind of death she was about to face, how deadly those curses would be that it would disfigure her.

But it seems the curses weren’t just physical harming curses. There was an even worse curse, a curse that affected the mind and sure enough Wendy suffered through it.

Despite the fact that in this large hall was only the two of them, Wendy had turned to the empty spot of the wall, on her knees as she pulled her hands before her chest, her tears dripping over her face as blood. Her body was trembling in fear as she muttered, "You have gained your true power, Sir Morpheus—"

True power? Arabella’s green eyes narrowed at what Wendy had seemed to see in her hallucination. Though hallucinations, those words she said seemed important, extremely so.

In Wendy’s eyes, what stood before her was no longer Arabella.

It was Morpheus.

His silver hair, bound in a sleek ponytail, shimmered like threads of moonlight against the deep purple cloak draped across his shoulders. His left eye burned a blood-red hue while the right gleamed green, and from his forehead jutted a stub of horn, curling upward like the beginning of an antler— grotesque, regal, almost appearing so different than a sorcerer, a feature that perhaps only those residing in Hell would have.

"Si– Sir Morpheus..." Wendy’s voice cracked, her throat raw. His gaze fell upon her —sharp, and merciless, colder than death. There was no warmth, no recognition, only disdain. As though her very existence offended him.

"Once again, you fail, Wendy." His words struck like a blade, heavy with disgust. His frown deepened as his narrowed eyes cut through her trembling figure. "What is it you can do? You promised me her head."

Terror and desperation collided in Wendy’s scream. "I will! I will bring back her head! Please —give me another chance. I did well, didn’t I? I killed Serena before! I killed Serena when she pretended to be that witchling’s mother. I obeyed you! I did what you asked— I can do it again!"

Witchling.

The word clung to the air like ash, and Arabella’s heart lurched. She understood now. The witchling Wendy raved about was her. But Serena—

Serena had protected her once, long ago. The memory resurfaced: a figure standing between her and danger, the only shield she’d ever known in those fragile years. Arabella had thought it was a boy, thought him as a lost boy in the forest who was hungry. He was nice to her until he had suddenly disappeared. But no— Serena had never been a boy at all. She was a woman, the one who had later worn the guise of Arabella’s mother to keep her safe.

And Wendy— Wendy had murdered her.

Arabella’s green eyes glimmered in the dark, narrowing as the truth settled like ice in her chest.

Morpheus... How many lives had he took from her?

"I’ll kill her. I promise I will kill her. Kill her. Kill her!" Wendy let out a roar, "I’ll bring you back to your rightful place in Hell, Sir Morpheus-"

Arabella blinked at the last word but before she could register the words, Wendy had raised her hands to the sky, mustering all her energy to its last bit and in that moment bright purple beam appeared from her palms, upward toward the sky.

Wendy’s crazed mind continued to speak through the hallucination, her words drenching in vile promises, "If she can’t die, I’ll bring her with me. Arabella, Serena, Circe. They are going to die with me today! HAHAHA- HAHAHAHHAHAHA!"

The purple beam shone over and in that second though Arabella had never seen such magic before, her guts and the knots inside her stomach could tell one thing.

This wasn’t a mere explosive magic, it was worse, it’s deadlier and something that could possibly even wiped out the entire building clean!

The people in the servant’s quarter, even though they have all evacuated, they aren’t far enough to escape the danger of the explosion.

Almost immediately, Arabella raised her hand toward the dome, her fingers turning white and then blue from the fingertips while she build shields upon shield surrounding Wendy.

"Not enough," she muttered to herself, "More- More... More!"

Arabella managed to put more than four hundred shield around Wendy, suffocating her inside the shield while the power began to explode, letting out a thundering shake that had caused for Ariel who was about to return to the servant’s building to fall on her bottom, scraping her knees in the process while she saw the sky above that had shook and rumbled.

"BELLA!" Ariel screamed, fearing for the worse.

Meanwhile, Arabella inside the building felt a sharp splinter of wood shoot toward her face, directly over her cheeks and cut through her flesh.

She winced, her eyes closed on the left from the sheer pressure of the explosion but she stayed strong, stayed rooted on the floor until the dusts settled.

What was then left from Wendy was nothing but a straw doll, half scorched to black.

Arabella sighed, falling to her knees as she felt her head reeling. Her ears were still ringing and in that moment, she could see a hand that had outstretched towards her. When she lifted her face, expecting Cassius, the silver hairs that had fallen from the man’s shoulders to his chest, made her face turn cold, her expression instantly darkened.

"Morpheus!" She raised her voice and in the next second, raised her hands, ready to attack him when Morpheus stopped his outstretched hands and smiled.

"Should we talk?"
