Tokyo: My Superpower Refreshes Every Week
Chapter 161 - 159: The Side Effects of Enlightening People_1
Shinjuku, Kabukicho.
During the day, Kabukicho bore no relation to the word "bustling." The colorful signs faded under the scorching sun. The vibrancy of the Sleepless City belonged only to the night. During the day, hardly anyone passed through here, making it appear rather deserted. However, the businesses of the adult entertainment stores were not halted; they simply shifted from offline to online. In this era of advanced internet technology, sticking solely to offline adult entertainment stores meant falling behind the times. To make money, these businesses had to develop online channels.
Yamabe Toshio had seized this opportunity of the era. With his exceptional skills, and through an APP he developed, he partnered with several adult entertainment store owners. He allowed their girls to register on the APP and, from their homes or at the premises, engage in one-on-one videos to complete tasks for their clients. They charged two thousand yen for ten minutes of service, which did not include showing their faces or any additional services. If clients wanted to see faces, the cost was five thousand yen for ten minutes. For those who desired additional services, there were three price tiers at two thousand, five thousand, and ten thousand yen. This kind of business was very profitable.
Most men harbored various concerns about going to adult entertainment stores, but online, those concerns evaporated, allowing them to pay and see women through videos. They could make the women do anything. This sense of control was enough to satisfy most male customers. Importantly, without face-to-face interaction, no one knew if a client finished within minutes, greatly protecting the privacy of a portion of the male clientele. Yamabe Toshio made a fortune with that APP, but now, he faced a very difficult dilemma.
At the Ohara Bar, within a VIP room on the second floor, Yamabe Toshio was sitting on a sofa, dressed in a black suit and wearing glasses. He looked quite scholarly and indeed, he was. A graduate of Waseda University with impressive credentials, he had been expelled after clashing with his leaders and had embarked on this entrepreneurial path out of necessity. Yamabe Toshio pushed up his glasses and hesitantly said to the Boss of the Ohara Group sitting in front of him, "Mr. Ohara, can you find someone else to develop the dark web APP?"
Yamabe Toshio wanted to use a submissive tone to gently decline the suggestion to develop an APP for the dark web. His "Lonely Midnight" software was essentially no different from an adult entertainment store, providing an employment platform for girls in need and collecting a fee for the service. In his view, his actions were legal and never forced any girls into the trade. The dark web was different. It brimmed with violence and gore, essentially coercing women or men through brute force to satisfy a portion of the global population with depraved fetishes. Yamabe Toshio did not want to engage in such activities that would violate his moral compass.
Ohara Hyoe responded with a benign smile, "Mr. Yamabe, you are a very talented individual. The Lonely Midnight APP has made us a lot of money. You've bought a house, a car, and you live a middle-class lifestyle; don't you want to go further? The dark web holds immense profit potential that far exceeds your imagination. Through the dark web, we can meet many powerful individuals with unique fetishes."
As he spoke, Ohara Hyoe stood up and walked around the table, his towering figure sitting next to Yamabe Toshio. He patted Toshio's shoulder. "Money is endless, and the indulgences of this world are limitless. I'm not asking you to get involved in those activities, you just have to develop that APP for me. If we don't take a slice of that cake, someone else will. Since there will always be someone who eats it, why can't it be us?"
Yamabe Toshio shrank in his seat, knowing full well it was specious reasoning. Yet he dared not directly oppose it. He was acutely aware that the man before him, though appearing hearty and generous, was in fact a cruel and ruthless sadist. He often tortured women to death in private, then removed all evidence like hair and nails before grinding the bodies into mince to feed his dogs. The rest would be incinerated. If Yamabe Toshio refused, he wouldn't die, but Ohara would probably give him a severe beating. Refuse a toast, and one must drink to his penalty. A struggle appeared on Yamabe Toshio's face, caught between his conscience and the beating.
Ohara Hyoe didn't rush Yamabe Toshio to decide. He relished watching others do things they were reluctant to do under his coercion. At first, these were minor things, but as they grew accustomed to being oppressed by his power, their so-called moral bottom lines disappeared. They became his puppets completely.
"Mr. Yamabe, don't you want to provide a better life for your wife and child? What's the point in earning a few tens of millions of yen a year? If you're going to earn, earn billions! You have the technology, I have the connections; if we work together, we can make even more money every year."
Ohara Hyoe's tone was seductive, though in reality he had long since become insensitive to wealth. The reason he wanted to develop an APP for the dark web was his desire to broadcast his acts of violence. This would allow more people to see them, and those with similar interests could pay to appreciate his masterpieces. Always operating in secrecy, he felt no sense of achievement. Yamabe Toshio still appeared very hesitant. Ohara Hyoe's face darkened, realizing his tone had been too gentle. At that moment, Aozawa arrived outside the door.
If you're looking to enlighten a villain, Shinjuku is the best place to start. Money and power weave an invisible web here, on which villains lured by profit perch. Aozawa, using the Catalyst sensing ability, commenced a thorough search in Shinjuku to locate Ohara Hyoe, who wanted to develop a dark web app. Once he had set his target, he stood outside the private booth. Looking at the man guarding the place, Aozawa knew there were no surveillance cameras around, thanks to his Catalyst sensing ability.
Good, I'll use the fourteen underlings in the corridor as a test, Aozawa thought. He did not reveal his physical form but attempted to use the Power of Enlightening while in the state of Schrödinger's Cat. I want to test if this power can be used with Schrödinger's Cat, he thought. Aozawa lifted his hand towards the forehead of a man at the end of the corridor, and his right hand suddenly surged with a warm sensation, something flowing into the man's forehead.
"Ah!" The man suddenly roared.
Startled, the man next to him turned his head and said, "Kojiro, what are you yelling for all of a sudden?"
No sooner had he spoken than something terrifying happened. Kojiro's body began to swell as if an inflating balloon. His now massive stature made the corridor seem narrower. Kojiro's arms went from scrawny to as thick as a rhino's leg, his muscles tearing through the fabric of his clothing. He stood there like the Hulk from the movies, with an overwhelmingly oppressive posture.
"You, you..." The thirteen other underlings in the corridor were shocked, clueless about what was happening.
Kojiro was just as clueless. His mind went blank, and he forgot everything except for a vague, towering figure looming in his thoughts, its true form indiscernible.
"Kill them," the immense figure commanded, raising a hand. The loud voice filled Kojiro's mind, prompting his body to move.
BOOM! A thunderous sonic boom erupted as Kojiro's punch turned the man next to him into a pile of mush. Blood and entrails splattered against the walls. And Kojiro's swinging right arm gushed with blood amidst the sonic boom. Yet Kojiro, seemingly devoid of any sense of pain, simply desired to obey the voice in his head, charging forward like a tank revved up to its highest speed.
"Ahh! Run for it!" Someone tried to flee.
Kojiro effortlessly grabbed the nearest person and hurled them like a weapon, striking the escapee with deadly precision. Bones crackled as they shattered upon brutal impact, piercing through internal organs. Both men collapsed, coughing up fresh blood. Kojiro, in a frenzied rage, flattened each man with a punch. Blood splattered across the walls and ceiling like free-flowing ketchup, while bones burst with the crispy snap of fried potato chips. Within a short time, Kojiro had killed all thirteen men present. The potent smell of blood permeated the area.
"Open the door."
Hearing the command, Kojiro, soaked in blood, walked over to the private booth and twisted the door open.
Yamabe Toshio shouted in horror, "What, what are you?"
Ohara Hyoe was even more shocked, gazing at the muscle-bound monster drenched in blood that trickled down his body, pooling on the floor. Is this a movie?
"Kill Ohara." Kojiro, fixating on Ohara Hyoe, let out a roar.
In a panic, Ohara Hyoe hastily drew a handgun and pulled the trigger in rapid succession. BANG, BANG. A few shots rang out as bullets struck Kojiro's body. His formidable muscles acted like armor plates, and even when hit by several bullets, he remained undeterred in his motion. Like a maddened bull, Kojiro charged at Ohara Hyoe who, with terror and confusion in his eyes, watched as Kojiro raised his arm and brought it down.
CRASH! With primal force, Kojiro's blow burst Ohara Hyoe's head and continued downward through neck, bones, and body, until everything spread out like mashed clay. The sheer strength caused the springs in the sofa below to compress while the nearby glass shattered from the impact. Yamabe Toshio's eardrums buzzed from the deafening sound, seeing stars before his eyes. He toppled sideways onto the floor. It took a while before he came to. Touching the warm blood on his cheek, then looking at the scene before him, he wet himself in fright.
"No, don't kill me, please!" He shook his head terror-stricken, desperately recoiling backward, wishing he could vanish from the monster's sight.
Aozawa did not let Kojiro attack him. From his behavior, Yamabe isn't someone who needs to die just yet, he thought. Aozawa deactivated the Power of Enlightening.
Kojiro's body rapidly shrank. As he returned to his original state, blood covered his arms, and it spurted from every orifice. He collapsed onto the ground, convulsed a few times, then stopped breathing. Aozawa watched the scene, aware that using the Power of Enlightening on a human body would have severe side effects. This man didn't die from the gunshots but from the side effects of the Power of Enlightening. Without Aozawa's superpower to sustain him, Kojiro's body collapsed.
