?Chapter 1273:

    “Understood.”

The shoot came to a temporary halt as a disagreement arose between the photographer and brand teams.

Hadley let out a quiet breath and stepped away for a moment to rest.

“Hadley!” A called out from a distance, waving both arms excitedly. Hadley gave her a nod and began to walk over. But before she could take more than a single step, someone suddenly dashed toward her from the side.

Hadley had no time to react. She only heard a sharp voice shouting, “You conniving, shameless woman!”

A bucket of water then came flying toward her.

“Ah!” she cried out, caughtpletely off guard.

The cold hit instantly, and she gasped.

The water had ice cubes in it, and the shock of it made her body tense from the chill.

What just happened? Who would throw a bucket of iced water at her?

“Hadley!” Eric had seen everything from his seat and immediately stood up, walking toward her in long strides.

“Mr. Scott!” A ran after him, trying to keep up.

“Who are you?” Hadley, soaking wet, wiped her face and looked at the girl in front of her in disbelief.

The young woman red at her with eyes full of hatred, her expression twisted with emotion.

“You don’t need to know who I am. How does that feel? Did it snap you back to reality? You’re disgusting. Always taking what isn’t yours.”

    What did she just say?

Hadley stared at her, pletely confused. The words made sense on their own, but together they sounded absurd.

“What exactly did I take from you?” she asked.

“Hadley!” Eric called out as he reached her side.

The girl turned toward him and pointed with trembling fingers. “Him!”

    “Eric?”

Hadley nced up at Eric, her brow furrowing as she tried to piece together his role in this unfolding drama.

Eric, however, merely shook his head, utterly baffled. Having just stepped into the scene, he was clueless about themotion swirling around them.

“Humph!” With a derisive snort, the girl jabbed a finger at Eric, her voice dripping with scorn. “Who in all of Srixby hasn’t heard that Mr. Flynn—now Mr. Scott—has been head over heels for Linda for ages?”

    Linda?

Hadley’s heart skipped a beat, surprise flickering across her face. Could this girl’s fiery outburst really be about Linda?

She shot Eric a sidelong nce, one eyebrow arching as a wry smile yed on her lips. “Well, it seems the whole town is in on your affection towards Linda.”

    “Hadley…”

Eric’s frown deepened, his patience wearing thin. He had tried to set the record straight on this matter more times than he could count, but the rumors clung like stubborn burrs.

The girl, witnessing their exchange, grew even more incensed, her righteous fury boiling over.
