?Chapter 1302:

“Did you tell Mr. Scott to have me removed from the cast?” A’s voice trembled with fury as she stared Hadley down, as though she were confronting someone who had deliberately tried to ruin her.

Hadley found the usation almostughable. Her lips curved faintly as she gave a slight shake of her head. “No.”

“Stop lying!” A snapped. “It had to be you! You found out how I felt about him and you wanted to get rid of me! You’re unbelievable, Hadley. He wasn’t even officially yours, so why can’t I be with him?”

“You can. That’s entirely your choice.” Hadley narrowed her eyes, her voice edged with impatience. “Let me say this onest time. I had nothing to do with your removal from the cast. If you’re looking for someone to me, go speak to Eric. Since you believe you’re so close to him, that conversation should be easy.”

But that response struck right where it hurt most.

Eric had promised A a future, he had promised to build her career. Now, without warning or exnation, he had gone back on everything he said.

Hadley and Eric had clearly argued. A was certain of it. Yet somehow, she had be the one to suffer the consequences. He had turned his back on her and had her pushed out.

A bit hard on her lip, seething as her emotions spiraled. Her face shifted rapidly between cold anger and wounded frustration.

“Haha!” Then suddenly, sheughed. It was dry and bitter, filled with mockery. “So proud of yourself, aren’t you? You think you’ve won, that he’s yours. Sure, he’s obsessed with you, but that didn’t stop him from crawling into my bed, did it?”

Hadley’s brows drew together at once, and her voice cut in without hesitation. “What happened between you and him is your business. I don’t care to hear about it, and I certainly don’t need to hear it from you.”

    She turned, her patience drained.

“Hadley!” A’s voice rang out again, louder this time. “Just answer me this. Do you even like him? At all?”

Hadley slowed her step and looked over her shoulder. Her expression was calm, even detached. “Are you really still asking that now?” Was A still so blind to the truth?

“Why won’t you just give me a straight answer?” A pushed forward, her voice rising in desperation. “Is it because you can’t say it out loud? Because you don’t actually love him? I’ve known you for so long, and all he’s ever done is treat you well! And you—you’ve given him nothing but coldness! That’s not what love looks like!”

“Believe whatever you like.” Hadley didn’t want to argue anymore. “Are we finished here?”

“You—” A clenched her fists, her breathing uneven. Her eyes darkened, and a sh of something cruel passed through them. “You don’t even love him, yet you can’t stand the thought of anyone else caring for him. You’re the selfish one, not me.”

Hadley froze. She stared at the woman in front of her with disbelief, as if the absurdity had finally worn her down. The women Eric attracted… Were they all like this?

Without another word, she shook her head and walked towards her room.

“Hadley!” A’s voice rang out from behind, ced with bitterness. “I’m not like you! I actually care about him! Don’t think that pushing me out means I’ll walk away!”

Hadley didn’t turn around. Without a word, she stepped into her room and closed the door behind her.

Since early morning, the skies over Srixby had been gray and heavy with clouds.
