?Chapter 1308:

Elissa experienced a full day. Shepleted her manuscript, powered off herputer, collected her belongings, and signed out for the day. Exiting the elevator and crossing the lobby, she heard someone shout her name.

    “Elissa!”

Her body tensed, her expression soured, and she turned.

“Elissa!” Robin was getting up from the lobby’s sofa and hurried towards her. He casually asked, “All done with work?”

Elissa took a cautious step backward. “How did you manage to find me here?”

“I have my ways of finding out what I need to know,” Robin replied with a downward nce, his toneced with allure. “You seem exhausted. How about we go out for dinner?”

“Do you honestly believe I’d enjoy dinner with you?” Elissa responded with a scornful chuckle as she shook her head in disbelief. “Robin, you’re just wasting your efforts! You refuse to sign the divorce papers, so I’ve taken it to the courts. Expect the notice soon!”

    “Elissa!”

In a moment of tension, Robin froze and extended his hand toward her.

“Keep your hands off me!” Elissa swiftly withdrew her hand, herplexion turning pale—a visible sign of her distress.

    “Elissa?”

A moment of realization halted Robin’s actions.

A wry smile formed on his lips. “There’s no need to fear. I didn’te here to cause harm. I admit my mistakes. Believe me, I’ve changed.”

While speaking, he revealed a velvet box from his coat. “I picked out a gift for you during my travels, thinking you might appreciate it…”

“I don’t want it!” Without a nce, Elissa dismissed the gesture. “Enough with these meaningless gestures! I just want to finalize our divorce and move past our marriage…”

Tears welled up in her eyes as she confronted him directly.

“Show some integrity, if you have any left, and ease this process. Let me leave.”

With those words, she spun around and hurried outside.

    “Elissa!” Robin dashed toward her.

Elissa’s breathing quickened as panic surged through her veins. “Ah…” In an instant, a sharp pain shot through her ankle.

Her eyesnded on her heel stuck in a drainage grate, throwing herpletely off bnce and to the ground.

The sprain was obvious, and the agony pulsed fiercely.

When she turned around, Robin was rmingly near! “Elissa!”

Without warning, someone appeared beside her—a broad figure reaching out swiftly to hold her steady.

Lifting her gaze, Elissa stammered in shock as she said, “Mr. Flynn?” Ernest gave her a brief look before shifting his focus to Robin, who was approaching fast and chose to remain silent.

“Forgive me, but…” he muttered gently, carefully removing the trapped shoe from her grasp. Then he scooped her up with his other arm. A few steps away, his car waited by the curb. He gently ced her in the passenger seat andmanded the driver, “Let’s go!”

As they sped off, Ernest eyed the reflection behind them. Robin persisted for a moment, but soon dwindled into the distance. Shifting attention from the rearview mirror, Ernest inspected the snapped heel in his grip before ncing toward Elissa. With a concerned expression, he asked, “Is he bothering you?” Elissa remained silent but affirmed with a nod.
