?Chapter 1309:

Ernest’s concern grew more visible as his brow furrowed deeply. “Is he refusing to sign the divorce papers?” Again, Elissa confirmed with a nod.

A chilly chuckle escaped Ernest. “Need my assistance with this?”

    Elissa shook her head firmly.

Her nerves had settled somewhat. Facing Ernest, she offered a grateful smile. “Thanks for the offer, but the divorce papers are already filed.” She had grown ustomed to Robin’s constant annoyances. All she needed to do was overlook them until the divorce was legally recognized.

“Understood.” Ernest acknowledged her decision. “May I ask who your attorney is?”

    “Mr. Zane Hayes.”

She then exined that Hadley had rmended him. Zane was the cousin of Hadley’s good friend.

“Ah, him.” Ernest’s worry eased somewhat. “Zane is quite capable.” Despite being younger than Cristian, Zane had made a name for himself in the legal field. Frankly, handling a divorce case seemed below his abilities.

Suddenly recalling something, Elissa said, “Mr. Flynn, I assume you have othermitments? Perhaps you could drop me off here and go on with your day.”

“There’s no need,” Ernest replied, shaking his head. “I’ve finished work for the day and was heading home anyway.”

His destination was his home, where she would be tutoring his son after school, after all.

    “Alright.”

With a nk nod, Elissa realized he still held her shoe in his hand. Taking it back, she felt a flush of embarrassment. “Thanks, and I apologize for the inconvenience.”

“It’s no trouble at all.” Ernest then looked down at her foot. “Your heel’s broken. Did you hurt your ankle when it happened?”

Elissa quickly withdrew her foot, denying any injury. “No, really. I’m fine.”

    “Alright then.”

Ernest, typically a man of few words, epted her assurance without further probing.

    Silence then enveloped the car.

Elissa gripped her shoe tightly, eager to arrive at Flynn Mansion. The solitude with him heightened her unease.

Her heart raced, threatening to burst, while her hands grew sweaty.

    Silently, they reached Flynn Mansion.

The vehicle halted at the grand entrance.

Grimacing, Elissa fitted her shoe back on, the pain sharp as she stepped onto the pavement.

She had concealed from Ernest that her ankle was sprained.

While sitting was bearable, standing and walking sent a sharper pang through her ankle, yet she could still limp along.

Ernest, sensing something amiss, nced her way. “What’s wrong?”

Caught off guard, Elissa quickly shook her head. “No, nothing at all.” Observing her obvious difort, Ernest scanned her ankle and then tactfully averted his gaze. “Shall we go in?”

    “Miss Hond!”

As they stepped into the living room, Locke sprinted towards Elissa, embracing her tightly. “Miss Hond, I got the highest score on my test today!”
