Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!
Chapter 378 378 Returning to the Old Residence 6
As soon as Mason Nightshade finished speaking, Aurelia Shaw couldn't help but yawn. Her eyes were rimmed with red, and a misty allure filled her almond-shaped eyes, enchanting in her beauty.
Before she could react, Mason had already lifted her into his arms, striding upstairs with large steps.
"Hey, Mason!" Sophie Nye, seeing that he truly wasn't speaking to her, finally couldn't hold back. She caught up to block him, her face clouded as she said in a deep voice, "Getting more and more out of line. Seeing your mother without even a simple greeting."
Then she turned to Aurelia, "What's this manner of conduct? It's not like you can't walk, yet at home you let your husband carry you. How improper it looks! You are Mason's wife, your duty is to take care of Mason, not to have Mason distracted by taking care of you. Come down at once."
Aurelia didn't move and instead looked at Mason, lazily and sleepily blinking her eyes, signaling him to solve it quickly.
"What grand airs Lady Nightshade has." Mason sneered, his lips curling coldly, "I haven't said anything. When did it become your place to boss my wife around, hmm? Are there no servants in this house that I need her to handle my daily affairs?"
"Don't even mention doing laundry and cooking; I can't even bear to let her lift a teacup. She's my wife, and I like taking care of her like this. Those who haven't raised me for a single day have no right to boss around my woman, barking orders as they please."
"You!" Sophie couldn't believe Mason would speak to her like this. Even if she hadn't taken care of him, they were still mother and son, "Weren't you born after I carried you for ten months? Haven't you eaten a single meal from the Nightshade family? So what if I didn't personally look after you? Weren't there household servants? I had business to attend to; your father was absent all the time, and I had to find him."
Mason sneered derisively. He truly felt no affection at all for his mother, "I know, which is why I'll take care of your needs in old age. It was my grandfather who raised me, and I'll repay that debt of gratitude to him. Lady Nightshade, could you step aside?"
"You..." Sophie swayed unsteadily, gripping the staircase to keep herself from fainting with rage, though it was more out of fear.
She knew her son's current strength differed greatly from before, but she always believed that as his mother, he had an absolute duty to obey her. Even if she hadn't raised him, so what? They shared an unbreakable blood bond.
However, she now realized that, in Mason's eyes, he didn't care about this bond at all, or even… despised it.
This thought made Sophie panic deep down.
This was her only bargaining chip. If she lost Mason, she would lose her only foothold in the Nightshade family!
No way! She had endured for so many years in this family, lost her husband, and now her son too; she absolutely couldn't lose the Nightshade family!
Sophie squeezed her fingers, a malicious, cold glint flashing in her eyes as she took out her phone and dialed a number.
Aurelia slept through the afternoon, and Mason had already left. After such a big event last night, and with his killer instinct aroused, he must have many things to handle today. The fact that he made time to be with her must already have been a stretch.
She looked at her own body in puzzlement.
Yet after just one nap, she felt much better—a lot better. The wound on her forehead no longer ached; her limbs moved freely; the knees that hurt from walking in the morning now had scabs formed. The deep wounds on her palms still were raw and bloody, but they didn't hurt anymore; they itched, indicating they were healing.
