Eryx POV

A week, it’s been a week and we don’t know who it was. The list wasn’t long but every single person has refused to say it was them. Every single person has argued it wasn’t them. I suggest we torture them until they admit the truth but my parents refuse.
It makes no sense though, the only ones who left were guards and such, they have nothing to gain from it. They also don’t have magic. So maybe it’s time we ept it wasn’t someone from this pack? Maybe it was someone traveling, and they stopped there to do the spellb? /b
“I have another idea,” my mother says and I look at her.
b“/bWhich is?” I ask.
“I’ve already exined,” my father snaps. “That is dangerous, we have enough with Eryx getting close to the Hollowed Queenb, /bwe can’t afford for you to be as well.”
My eyes flick between them, they are arguing, which means it’s dangerous but what if it gives up the answers we need? I don’t want to wait around anymore, I want the answers, I want the truth.
“What idea?” I ask.
“Serafine!” My father snaps.
“Xander, we’ve done it your way and it failed,” my mother says gently. Then she looks at me. “I can use my magic, try to separate the Hollowed Queen’s magic to see where the magic began. Whoever summoned her used their own magic, even if just a small bit.”
So we can get the answer? “Then let’s do it,” I say.
“It means she has to willingly touch the Hollowed Queen’s magic, she has to let it touch her, let it in!” My father roars.
Oh, I sit back down. “I’m not willing to risk you,” I say.
“It’s the only choice we have, whoever it was didn’te from the pack, or if they did, they got out without being noticed.”
She stands and walks toward me and my father. “I’m doing it with or without your approval. This is bing more of a risk.”
My head shakes instantly. “It’s not worth it!”
“How can you say that! It’s every night, Eryx, every night we have to tie you down and force her out just to do it again the next night. She’s getting stronger and soon she will drag you into the hollow, then what?”
“Then I ept I failed and die.” That’s what happens.
“Which means we all do, so I’m doing it.” She grips me before I can stop her, and pain hits hard. I feel the magic pulling between us, seeping into her then dragging back into me. It’s like a battle. I try to pull it back, to stop her, and she just pulls harder.
My body shakes, and she keeps going, and I can feel it, I can feel the magic separating, it splits into pieces, thousands of pieces if not more.
I’m not sure how long I fight against her, and feel each thread of magic brush against mine, then one, weak, stutters slightly, it’s fresh, and new and marred with blood. The magic flickers, and dulls, it isn’t strong.
But bI /bfeel it, the blood, my mother’s blood, and it stops me from fighting her. How did my mother’s blood get used for summoning the Hollowed Queen? The question floats through my mind and I struggle to understand it.

Then the magic burns slightly, and I get a sense of who it came from. The world around us is still and quiet bas /bthe magic battles to keep in btact /b

Then bit /bshatters loud, and I gasp, falling back as my mother trembles and falls to her knees.
“Helena?” I look around and see her standing there in the corner, her eyes wide. “Youl” I roar.
“I didn’t mean it,” she pleads. “I swear to you, my intention was never to summon the Hollowed Queen, ever!”
Is she joking! “You’ve summoned her! You, how could you do that.”
How did you get my blood?” my mother whispers, and stands before turning to look at Helena. “How did you acquire my blood?”
“I stole it, after a training event when you were bleeding.”
My father stares at her, shocked, and disgusted.
“I only wanted to give the witches more power. I did a spell to draw power and give it to the witches; it wasn’t meant to summon her. I didn’t
know!”
“But you did it,” my father roars and steps closer. “You unlocked her, you brought her into our world, and now she’s tormenting Eryx, our family, someone you called family!”
Helena’s head falls. “I apologise, I never meant to hurt anyone.”
“You kept quiet,” my mother snaps. “Out of everyone, I expected you to tell us the truth, if you did it fine, you made a mistake but when you knew what was twisting in there you should have made us aware. You let it grow, let it gain strength!”
Helena nods. “I’ll take whatever punishment you see fit,” she whispers.
“I see you as my grandmother,” I say. “You were the closest thing I had to that, and you sat there knowing you caused all this, watched it attack April, attack me, and stayed quiet!” How could she be so cruel and evil? How could she not care, not notice what was happening?
“I had faith that you would uncover the truth and stop it, maybe I was wrong. I didn’t do it to be evil or deceive you. I just wanted to give the witches imore /ipower.”
Which is wh they are here. “You’ve brought witches here, not to train the ones who have power but to try and give them magic, you used this pack.” I stare at her in shock, how could she do this, not care, not even try to care about the mayhem she caused?
