CHAPTER 45: CHAPTER 45: FINALLY DISCOVERED

Xiaomi had absolutely no idea about her parents’ conversation; otherwise, she would definitely sigh once again at how clever her dad was, not at all like a simple farmer!

Man, if he’d only read a bit more and gotten some more worldly experience, he wouldn’t be stuck farming in the village!

Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t hear it, and Jiang Hu didn’t get another chance.

When Xiaomi woke up from her nap, she saw her parents cuddling together and couldn’t help but grin. Seriously, four kids already, and they’re still so lovey-dovey! How’s one supposed to live around here!

But then she thought it was actually nice; the better her parents’ relationship, the more harmonious the family, which is something a single lady from birth like Xiaomi totally envied.

In her past life, she was an orphan, lacking love from a young age, which made her avoid emotional connections like the plague as she grew up. Even though she had been pursued, her deep distrust of relationships left her with no expectations and naturally no response.

However, in just three short months with her parents, Xiaomi’s outlook changed. Having someone you mutually like to live life with, even if it’s mundane, can be so happy.

Of course, it’d be better if her dad didn’t do naughty things with her mom while they were asleep...

Thinking back to the first night her parents sent her older siblings away, she was busy in her room, just came out, and heard the noises. The awkwardness was beyond description!

Can she just say that it was lucky she went back to her room in time, so she wasn’t startled into making a sound? It’s not that anything else bothered her; she was just afraid of frightening her dad into some kind of stroke.

No wonder her parents moved her older siblings to the corner and thoughtfully bought covers to make individual bed canopies for them.

At the time, Xiaomi thought it was finally a show of her dad’s attentiveness, considering the mosquitoes would be out soon.

It turned out that the mosquitoes were the least of their worries; blocking the view for the older siblings was the real deal!

Ever since then, every night as soon as Xiaomi went to bed, she’d go straight to her room, often not coming out until midnight for some proper sleep.

She couldn’t help it; she dreaded being suddenly woken up by noise, as that would be too awkward.

Jiang Hu’s wife only napped briefly before getting up to feed Xiaomi and Iron Egg, then took the whole family back to the fields to work.

They greeted some villagers along the way, which was when Xiaomi realized her dad’s plans to share the vegetable seeds with the villagers.

Liu Yang was quite the blabbermouth, which everyone knew, and Jiang Hu deliberately let Liu Yang know, knowing that once he did, the whole village would know soon enough.

So Jiang Hu wasn’t surprised at this point; he just smiled and said, "There aren’t that many seeds, so everyone can share them. Just don’t mind the quantity."

Of course, no one would mind. Jiang Hu brought vegetables to the Tongfu Restaurant in town every half month, and even if it was just two copper coins per pound, he still made dozens of copper coins a day!

It’s a shame they couldn’t grow such tasty vegetables themselves. If they received Jiang Hu’s seeds, they’d have no trouble selling them at the town market, even if they couldn’t deliver to the restaurant.

Everyone in town had seen Jiang Hu’s vegetables—big and lush, a delight to look at.

As they made their way to their own fields, Jiang Hu and his wife received countless thanks, and even Xiaomi and Iron Egg were highly praised.

When they got to the field with just their family, Jiang Hu’s wife noticeably relaxed, fully believing in what Brother Hu said before.

In the afternoon, they happened to run into Liu Yang and his wife. Their fields were next to each other, so they often encountered each other while working.

However, today, Liu Yang kept looking around his field and Jiang Hu’s crops without doing any work.

Jiang Hu was baffled by this sight and couldn’t help but ask, "What’s up with you? Watching for so long, what are you looking at?"

Liu Yang quickly waved him over, "Brother Hu, come over and take a look for me."

Though Jiang Hu was puzzled, he walked over. "What are we looking at?"

Liu Yang pointed to a spot close to Jiang Hu’s crops, "Brother Hu, did you notice these particular dozen stalks of sorghum? They grew a bit better than the others, but they’re still not as good as yours."

Jiang Hu followed Liu Yang’s gesture and observed, nodding, "It’s true."

Even without a sharp palate, having grown up with fields since infancy, Jiang Hu noticed the small differences.

Seeing Jiang Hu noticed it too, Liu Yang slapped his thigh in excitement, "See, I knew it! I think I know why your crops are doing so well now, Brother Hu!"

Jiang Hu was still confused, "Why is that?"

Wasn’t it because of Xiaomi and Iron Egg’s blessing? Liu Yang and the village chief were saying so with such confidence at noon, weren’t they?

Liu Yang’s excitement caught the attention of his wife, Wang Xiang, "What’s up, Liu Yang? What’s the fuss about?"

Liu Yang quickly gestured for his wife to drop it, "Nothing, I’ll tell you later tonight, don’t worry about it now."

He then turned to Jiang Hu and lowered his voice, "Brother Hu, do you remember last time when we were watering the fields? I happened to be short half a bucket that day, didn’t you have extra and end up watering this spot?"

Jiang Hu suddenly remembered, that day they were working on the same side, and Liu Yang had just a few stalks left unwatered. He let Liu Yang use the extra from his bucket to avoid another trip.

He handed Liu Yang the dung bucket, not paying attention to where he poured it, so was it here?

Jiang Hu still found it hard to believe, "That shouldn’t be. Xiaomi and Iron Egg’s waste is stored separately."

Everyone knew that, so there was no need to lie about it. Liu Yang, who often helped out at their house, knew best.

Liu Yang nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, we all know that two little kids’ waste couldn’t fertilize several acres. We’re aware."

"I was just wondering, Brother Hu, have you considered that because Xiaomi and Iron Egg are your kids, the whole family is blessed? Just look at the crops."

"See, mine only got watered with your family’s once, so it’s slightly better, but yours got it twice, so that’s why it’s even better."

"Right, isn’t it?"

Well, it’s hard to deny.

Liu Yang glanced at Jiang Hu’s crotch and bottom.

Jiang Hu instantly shivered and stepped back two paces, "What are you looking at?"

Liu Yang realized his action was inappropriate and quickly chuckled awkwardly, "Nothing, nothing, just a bit surprised."

Jiang Hu rolled his eyes, knowing Liu Yang didn’t have any nasty intentions, and went back to thinking about the matter.
