CHAPTER 83: CHAPTER 83: SCENES INSIDE THE SPACE

Xiaomi wasn’t greedy; capturing two little rabbits into the space made her quite satisfied. Whether they were male or female didn’t matter—she would raise them to adulthood and then swap them with the ones outside since all these rabbits looked pretty much the same.

She didn’t care if her parents noticed or what would happen if they discovered two little rabbits missing. Anyway, two little chicks were sure to go missing later, too.

With the rabbits caught, Xiaomi was content: "Second sister, I’m heading back now."

She bounced back to the fire pit where Jiang Hu was already working, and the eldest child was nowhere to be seen, probably having gone out with Jiang Hu.

The second mother was sewing clothes while watching over Tie Dan, carefully ensuring he didn’t get too close to the fire.

Seeing Xiaomi come back, she smiled and asked, "What’s up, why so happy?"

Xiaomi also thought she was smiling too obviously: "Mom, touched the little rabbits, so soft."

Xiaomi’s smile was so adorable that it made the second mother laugh along: "Xiaomi really likes little rabbits, huh? Aren’t they cute?"

Xiaomi nodded repeatedly: "Cute."

The second mother pulled over a small stool, allowing Xiaomi to sit a little further from the fire pit: "What is second sister doing? Why hasn’t she come over?"

In the past, Xiaomi and Ernie would both go and come back together.

Xiaomi propped her chin: "Second sister is sweeping; she’ll come over in a while."

She could already speak quite clearly, but still on purpose in a cute, adorable way. Thankfully, being so young, it wasn’t awkward.

After all, a baby not even one year old speaking in an adult manner would always feel out of place.

The second mother nodded, continuing to talk with Xiaomi while sewing and occasionally calling back Tie Dan, who was about to crawl away.

After Ernie finished cleaning the rabbit pen, the second mother quickly told her to wash her hands and come over by the fire. Tie Dan, after playing for a bit, got tired, fell asleep on the ground, and the second mother quickly took off his outer clothes and placed him on the bed.

Around afternoon, Wang Xiang came over with her son Liu Hai, carrying needles, thread, and shoe pads. She had been making shoes these days and found that the second mother was better at needlework than her, so she came to see the second mother almost every afternoon.

Knowing that the eldest child wasn’t home, Liu Hai asked the second mother for a bowl of water and then went to the fields to find the eldest child.

There was always a kettle placed by the fire pit for convenient access to hot water. Seeing Liu Hai come to her house and directly look for water was something Xiaomi had long been accustomed to.

The same went for Wang Xiang, after warming herself by the fire for a while, she would drink half a bowl of water.

However, the area around the fire pit was indeed quite dry, so the second mother didn’t mind her drinking a bit more water.

Xiaomi had also gotten used to it. Whenever someone from Liu Yang’s family came to their house, if there wasn’t anything else to do, they would at least drink two bowls of water.

But considering Liu Yang often helped her father with his work, Xiaomi didn’t mind at all.

Xiaomi boredly propped her chin, listening to the voices of her mother and Wang Xiang, feeling sleepy, while Ernie was practicing how to use the needle and thread and the leftover fabric strips from her mother’s clothes-making.

Soon, Xiaomi felt someone pushing her arm: "Xiaomi, are you sleepy? Second sister will take you inside to sleep."

Xiaomi squinted and nodded, then was led into the house. Tie Dan was already sound asleep, and after Ernie took off Xiaomi’s outer clothes and let her lie on the bed, she felt wide awake instead.

However, she was too lazy to get up again, so she decided to check on the little rabbits in the space.

With a thought, her consciousness entered the space, quickly heading to the cabbage field outside.

"Where are the rabbits?" She muttered to herself, quickly sensing where they were and moved to that spot.

The next second, Xiaomi’s eyes lit up: "So cute."

They were just the size of two fists, gray-brown little rabbits, fluffy, munching on cabbage leaves, with their cheeks puffing as they ate, looking so adorable.

With a thought, a large cabbage flew over from the warehouse side, landing next to the two little rabbits.

Though everything was within the space, the cabbages grown on the flat ground were a tad inferior to those in the garden in terms of appearance and taste.

Probably because of the land, even though this was also in the space, the spiritual energy here was surely not as abundant as in the garden, but still different from outside the space.

And the cabbage Xiaomi brought were grown in the space’s garden.

As soon as it fell, the two little rabbits got startled but quickly ran over, munching away eagerly.

It was evident that the cabbage Xiaomi brought just now was much more tempting.

Xiaomi clicked her tongue twice: "These animals’ sense is really sharp; they even know what’s good stuff."

After glancing a few more times, Xiaomi didn’t bother anymore because, without her permission, the two rabbits wouldn’t leave that area.

Thinking about the hens incubating eggs, which would probably take more than twenty days, she found some seeds, a mix of various vegetable seeds, and planted them again on a newly marked plot of land.

It was a pity she was still too young. If she could go to the town herself, with such a large space, she could easily plant something to sell and make quite some money.

After finishing these tasks, Xiaomi habitually toured the space. Not that she worried things might disappear but to check on her supplies, feel happy, and know exactly what she had.

You never know when you might need it?

Before leaving, she glanced at the incense in front of the memorial tablet in the courtyard’s main room; since it hadn’t burnt out, she didn’t go in and directly left the space.

After the activities, Xiaomi felt a bit tired too. Returning her consciousness to her body, she turned over and continued to sleep.

When she woke up, she heard the second mother’s nagging.

"Why not wait till tomorrow to get water boots from town before you pour water? In such cold weather, don’t you want your legs? Aren’t you afraid of getting sick?"

Jiang Hu chuckled: "It’s nothing, it’ll be done shortly anyway. The paddy field is now ready with some manure and water put in, making it easier to tidy next year."

Immediately followed by the sound of gulping water, Xiaomi blindly guessed it was ginger soup.

After winter set in, the second mother frequently brewed ginger soup. Someone coughing had ginger soup, sudden cold outside had ginger soup, even a few sneezes led to drinking ginger soup.

Luckily, Xiaomi was relieved that both she and Tie Dan were in robust health and hadn’t had to taste ginger soup thus far.

Turning over, she saw Tie Dan also awake, not crying or fussing, but intensely gnawing on his own toes.

"Mom~" Xiaomi stretched her voice to whine, and the second mother immediately stopped her nagging, turning to enter the room.

"Xiaomi is awake, oh, Tie Dan is awake too. Let’s get you dressed," the second mother swiftly dressed the siblings, picking up Xiaomi and setting her on the floor before carrying Tie Dan out.

Xiaomi trotted outside, seeing her father’s face all scrunched up while drinking ginger soup, and if you didn’t know better, you’d think he was downing poison.
