CHAPTER 38: CHAPTER 38: RUNNING FOR OUR LIVES

The man unveiled his black cloak, revealing a breathtaking appearance, yet his gloomy expression diminished some of the charm on his handsome face.

"Because I am the one who stole the Crystal Core," Yale curled his lips into a smile, fiddling with his ring indifferently, "I didn’t expect him to still be alive, and even reach Seven Stars. Tsk, tsk, tsk, that’s impressive indeed."

"So, let me also test your Healing Ability; I’m eagerly anticipating what kind of surprise you’ll bring me."

"Ruan Li! Don’t worry about me, stay away!" Xu Mo endured the pain of being crushed by twisting vines and shouted loudly.

Another vine emerged from the ground, covered in thorns.

"You talk too much," Yale raised his finger, and the vine instantly pierced into Xu Mo’s shoulder, blood flowing down the vine.

Xu Mo’s face turned pale, his Fire Ability was utterly ineffective against the vine, and the vine piercing his shoulder, under Yale’s command, twisted repeatedly at the wound. The thorns continued to rip through flesh, forcing streams of blood out of the wound.

"So, Miss Ruan, still hesitating?" Yale inquired, yet raised his finger again, and another thick vine emerged from the ground.

This vine occasionally dripped black liquid.

"This is my favorite vine, called Heggs, it hasn’t fed for a long time," Yale caressed Heggs affectionately, "The poison from its body can paralyze a person’s senses within three seconds, making them die painlessly and unfeelingly."

Ruan Li clenched her fists, this was clearly a blatant threat.

"Fine, I promise to heal you, but you must let Xu Mo down now!"

Yale curled his lips, "Okay."

The restraining vines instantly loosened completely, and the vine penetrating the shoulder withdrew suddenly.

Blood spurted out violently from the ghastly wound.

Xu Mo knelt on the ground supporting himself, his face as pale as a fragile piece of white paper. He lowered his head slightly, raising his eyes halfway to glare disdainfully at the man in front of him.

"Xu Mo!" Ruan Li exclaimed as she saw him suddenly fall from the sky.

Xu Mo wiped away the blood from the corner of his mouth, holding his chest as uncontrollable blood seeped through his fingers.

"Ruan Li, don’t go over."

He held back the pain, his voice trembling slightly.

"Miss Ruan, I’ve been quite sincere. I believe you wouldn’t want to see another bloody hole appear on his body." Yale eyed the two unfortunate lovers with a sense of humor that made him want to laugh.

Ruan Li worried about Xu Mo’s injury and bargained with Yale, "You merely want to test my Healing Ability, but Xu Mo’s injuries are severe, and I can’t concentrate on healing you. How about..."

Yale sneered, "You really think ahead."

Seeing this, Ruan Li could only walk toward him.

Xu Mo, however, grabbed her hand as she passed by him, looking up coldly, "Don’t go, Ruan Li."

Ruan Li stroked his forehead, "It’s okay, I’ll be right back."

She gently pulled her hand free.

As the petite female approached, Yale laughed and stepped forward, intending to pull her into his arms.

Suddenly, several vines appeared in the air, cutting through the sky like sharp swords. The earth cracked, and dust rose all around.

The dust flying up obscured the view, and Yale coughed repeatedly while covering his nose and mouth.

As the dust drifted away on the wind, the figure of the petite female was already gone.

Only a vine was diagonally pierced into the ground.

Yale’s expression turned ferocious, and with a wave of his hand, hundreds of vines burst from the ground into the air, yet no trace could be found.

"Capture him, I don’t believe she won’t come back."

Under the bright moon, a swift figure darted between the buildings, surrounded by continuously exploding particles.

Only then did Ruan Li realize she had gone from one danger into another.

She only briefly glanced at the person holding her.

A mysterious white-haired masked man.

Behind them were countless fighter jets, with laser and particle cannons sweeping the path they came.

Ruan Li looked at the gunfire behind in disbelief, "What are we doing?"

She nervously swallowed.

"We’re escaping for our lives, can’t you tell?" The man teased.

"No, why am I escaping with you??"

Ruan Li tightly gripped the man’s chest garment, "I want to go back!"

"I kindly saved you, and you aren’t grateful?" The man sneered, somewhat annoyed.

"I didn’t need your rescue at all."

That Prince Yale was well-dressed, surely an important figure in the Empire, and she had already activated her locator and listening devices, there was no need to fear.

The man pinched her face, his voice hard and cold, "I say you need it, and you do."

While speaking, a particle bullet grazed past Ruan Li’s ear, slicing off a strand of the man’s long hair blowing in the wind.

"Tsk, the Empire people really take themselves too seriously," the man frowned impatiently and leaped from the thirty-story building with Ruan Li in free fall.

Only the sound of the wind remained around them.

Ruan Li was held tightly in his arms, gripping the man’s arm with all her strength.

This idiot!! She didn’t want to die with him!

The man’s lips moved, saying something nonsensical.

The falling wind drowned out all other sounds, the man holding her hand, turning his body, he positioned himself below.

He leaned close to Ruan Li’s ear, warm breath accompanying the deep voice drifting down, "Watch closely..."

"This is true Wood Ability..."

As his words fluttered like butterflies into her ear.

Innumerable emerald-green vines erupted from below, horrifyingly bursting out, the verdant sea charging through the sky like a mighty army.

The man noticed her amazement and laughed softly.

The vines, leaving untraceable shadows, rushed toward the sky, enveloping them within.

The falling speed gradually slowed until a thick vine lifted them up.

Ruan Li’s racing heartbeat was still immersed in the recent extreme bungie experience.

Delicate pink flowers blossomed beneath them, the fresh fragrance wafting up, greenery in abundance.

The masked man saw her lost in the beauty, reached out to hook her neck, pulling her onto him, "So, do you still want to strangle me now?"

Ruan Li finally focused her gaze on the culprit before her, smirking sarcastically at the masked man, "Of course I do!"

"Who told you to bring me here!"

The man shrugged, "I kindly saved you, and yet you repay kindness with enmity."

"You call this saving me?" Ruan Li laughed in frustration. Just minutes ago, she was perfectly safe, but that’s no longer true; she might get blasted to bits by a particle cannon now.

"You might as well send me back right now, saving my Beast Husband from tracking you down using the Smart Brain’s location," Ruan Li remarked while trying to pull her hand from the man’s grasp.

The man’s eyes behind the mask narrowed slightly, "Sending you back is possible, but I need to borrow something from you first."

"What is it?"
