Chapter 47: Thicker-Skinned Than a City Wall

No sooner said than done, Yan Jun stood up, picked up his glass, and walked step by step toward the bar.

“Boss, you’re going in alone. That guy Yan Jun will definitely play dirty. Maybe this beauty was arranged by him,” Lei Ming warned.

“These guys are clearly just trying to mess with you,” Lei Ming said, disdainful of Yan Jun’s tactics.

“She looks familiar,” Lin Tai said, staring at the Western beauty’s back. He felt an unexpected sense of familiarity, as if he had seen this silhouette somewhere before. But for the moment, he couldn’t place it.

“Familiar how?” Lei Ming looked at Lin Tai, muttering to himself. Could Yan Jun be right? Was Lin Tai actually clueless about flirting? What was the deal with the detention room then? Four goddesses came to bail Lin Tai out, even going to great lengths to get him out. Could that all have been fake?

“It’s nothing,” Lin Tai said, glancing away after a brief look. Familiar or not, as long as it had nothing to do with the plot, Lin Tai’s interest was never high.

At the bar, ever since Yan Jun made his move, the eyes of the group of rich young masters were basically locked on him. From Yan Jun’s confident tone, it wasn’t hard to tell that he probably knew the beauty. This bet was already set for Lin Tai to lose.

Now, they were more curious about who this stunning beauty was and whether they still had a chance with her.

At the bar, they saw Yan Jun approach the beauty and start talking. But the scene that followed wasn’t as harmonious as they had imagined. Though they couldn’t hear what was being said, it was clear the beauty wasn’t giving Yan Jun any face. Most unexpectedly, as they talked, the beauty grabbed her cocktail and splashed it right in Yan Jun’s face.

The liquor dripped down Yan Jun’s forehead, yet he showed no signs of anger. Instead, he kept bowing and nodding to the beauty before retreating.

“Yan Shao, what’s the deal?” As soon as Yan Jun returned, the group of rich young masters crowded around him. What the hell? They thought Yan Jun would have her in the bag, but not only did he fail, he got a face full of liquor. What shocked them even more was Yan Jun’s attitude—after being splashed, he was still bowing and scraping, not daring to show the slightest temper.

This immediately piqued the curiosity of the rich young masters about the beauty’s identity.

“It’s nothing, just a fiery little lady,” Yan Jun said awkwardly, wiping the liquor off his face.

He couldn’t quite figure it out. When he approached Charlotte, her attitude was initially just cold and indifferent. But when he mentioned Ye Bai, her expression darkened instantly, and she grabbed her drink and splashed it on his face. He was puzzled—Ye Bai had told him that as long as he mentioned he was with Ye Bai, Charlotte would surely give him some face. Who would’ve thought that mentioning Ye Bai would set her off, completely disregarding her ladylike demeanor, splashing him and leaving him stunned on the spot.

“Your turn, Young Master,” Yan Jun quickly shifted the topic to Lin Tai to deflect his own embarrassment. He’d been splashed, so naturally, he wanted Lin Tai to get splashed too. At least he wouldn’t look worse than Lin Tai, right?

“Whatever,” Lin Tai said, picking up his glass and heading over. He had no hope of successfully chatting her up; his main goal was to get Yan Jun, this mad dog, to shut up.

“To be honest with you guys, that beauty at the bar is actually Princess Elizabeth Charlotte of the British royal family,” Yan Jun said to the surrounding rich second-generation heirs once Lin Tai was far enough away.

“She’s got that big a background? A British royal princess?” The British monarchy was one of the few remaining monarchies in the world. Unlike Japan’s emperor, who was merely a symbolic figurehead without real power, the British royal family still held significant political influence. In the commercial sphere, the British royal family was also an immensely powerful conglomerate, with both wealth and authority.

If this Princess Charlotte were in China, she’d be equivalent to a young lady from one of the four major families, with an extremely high status.

“You sly dog, you knew!” The rich second-generation heirs knew Yan Jun was up to no good; he clearly recognized her.

“If you knew her, why did she splash you?” The rich heirs were curious about this point.

“How should I know? Maybe she’s in a bad mood,” Yan Jun said after some thought. That seemed like the only explanation. It couldn’t be that Charlotte disliked Ye Bai, could it? Ye Bai and the British royal family had business dealings, so how could Princess Charlotte, as a royal, possibly dislike her family’s ally? So, it could only be chalked up to Charlotte likely being in a bad mood.

Yan Jun knew that the princess had been at Heaven on Earth for three days, sitting in the same spot every day. She didn’t dance or drink, just sat there, as if waiting for someone. But that person probably hadn’t shown up yet, so her mood had been consistently poor.

“Man, you’re really shady. Knowing she’s a British princess and still sending Lin Tai over? Isn’t that just asking for humiliation?” The rich heirs looked at Lin Tai’s approaching figure, already picturing him getting splashed by Charlotte just like Yan Jun.

“Humiliation? Lin Tai’s got skin thicker than a city wall. He’s been chasing Xia Shihan for years and still shamelessly plays the simp. A little humiliation like this? He won’t care,” Yan Jun said with a laugh. Though he hadn’t succeeded in chatting up Charlotte, at least he could watch Lin Tai make a fool of himself. He was sure Ye Bai would be pleased to see Lin Tai humiliated.

Thinking this, Yan Jun pulled out his phone, aimed it at Lin Tai, and prepared to record. He wanted to capture Lin Tai’s humiliation and send it to Ye Bai to earn his praise.

“True, his skin’s thicker than a city wall. He won’t care about a little humiliation like this,” the rich heirs said, now just waiting to watch the show.
