Transmigrated as My Aunt in the 70s
Chapter 674 - 667: Uneasy
CHAPTER 674: CHAPTER 667: UNEASY
Hotel in City G
A man in a bathrobe stands in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the night view of City G. Behind him, a despondent man stands, reporting work to the bathrobe man.
"The accident didn’t involve Qiao Xingbang’s wife and child. That car was driven away by Qiao Zhenbang’s wife. Qiao Zhenbang’s wife is still being rescued, and their daughter just has a broken leg."
The bathrobe man clenched his teeth; even heaven seems to be helping them?
Even if the heavens don’t assist him, he’s determined to fight against fate!
"Alright, let’s set aside the Qiao family’s matter for now. You guys keep a close watch on Mo Liu’s side. The young lady instructed that Mo Liu must be brought back to Sakura Manor, understood?" The bathrobe man said coldly.
"Yes!" Hearing the young lady’s orders, the man stiffened with fear and responded loudly.
Once the man left the room, the bathrobe man walked to the wine cabinet, poured a glass of red wine, and gently swirled it. The aroma instantly spilled out; the red wine swayed in the transparent high-stemmed glass like blood freshly drawn from the body.
Once the warmth from his palm penetrates the entire wine glass, the man tipped back his head and sipped the wine, smiling contentedly.
"Qiao Xingbang, this time you lucked out. Next time, who knows if you’ll be so fortunate? And He Sisi, I’ve been waiting for seven years!"
The man mumbled to himself and took another sip of wine. This person was unexpectedly Miyazaki Shin, who had long left City G.
Afterwards, Sisi went to City F a few more times. Luo Linglong had awakened, and the first thing she asked was how her daughter was. Upon learning her daughter was fine, she slipped back into a coma, but the doctor said it was not a concern anymore, just her body’s self-protection.
Qiao Zhenbang and Qiao Xingbang were investigating Miyazaki Shin, and they quickly found out that Miyazaki Shin had no record of leaving the country. This meant that Miyazaki Shin had been staying somewhere in Z Nation all along.
"Wait, I saw him board the plane with Tanaka Baihui myself. Did he come back afterwards?" Sisi was puzzled. She and Shangguan had seen it with their own eyes that day.
Qiao Zhenbang furrowed his brows: "Miyazaki Shin is indeed suspicious. He’s gone to great lengths to deceive everyone and stay in Z Nation. He must have something to accomplish. Linglong’s car accident should have a lot to do with him; otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a coincidence."
Qiao Xingbang cursed: "What are we waiting for? Let’s gather the brothers and catch this guy!"
He was immediately slapped across the face by Sisi after speaking.
"Why don’t you use your brain? You think this is Hong Kong? How can you go around arresting people? Do you have any evidence? He’s an international friend now, and screwing this up could trigger an international conflict."
Qiao Zhenbang also disagreed, looking at Qiao Xingbang: "Xingbang, Sisi is right; we cannot operate like before here in the Mainland. Otherwise, why did dad bother to send us here to establish the factory?"
Qiao Xingbang angrily slammed the table, growling: "Damn it, it makes me furious. This we can’t do, that we can’t do, why are we even here? We might as well stay in Hong Kong where I can do whatever I want!"
Sisi sneered: "You think you can go on doing whatever you want in Hong Kong forever? Isn’t there a crackdown going on now? Otherwise, why would Uncle Qiao want to send you two here to establish the factory? Is he just full and bored?"
Qiao Xingbang was just venting his frustrations. Although he doesn’t like to think, he can see that the situation in Hong Kong has been tense in recent years; the police are strict, and many of the underground businesses are hard to do.
"I’m just feeling suffocated; since when have we been so restrained in what we do?" Qiao Xingbang said gloomily.
Sisi didn’t bother responding, thinking that if he still couldn’t understand at such a critical moment, it could only be said he’s hopelessly stupid!
Qiao Zhenbang said to his brother: "We have a lot to do. Whether the mastermind is Miyazaki Shin or not, we must have people keep an eye on him. And that person behind the scenes won’t give up easily; we need brothers to protect the women and children at home, and also protect Old Dou and Aunt Mu, as well. If Miyazaki Shin is really Shi Jianhao, he would want our entire Qiao family to be wiped out."
Sisi agreed: "That’s right, we must prepare for everything. Now, the enemy is in the dark while we are in the light; we must be cautious above all."
"Sisi, you need to be more careful too; if it’s really Shi Jianhao, he won’t hesitate to take action against you either. Seven years ago, he already wanted to catch you." Qiao Xingbang told Sisi.
Sisi nodded. It looks like this summer won’t be spent peacefully.
After returning to City T, Sisi began to prepare dinner. Last night, Tian Xinhua said he wanted to eat cold noodles; upon hearing this, Sisi felt hungry too. In such hot weather, spicy and fragrant cold noodles are indeed refreshing.
She put the noodles into the pot to cook until seventy percent done, then took them out and rinsed them under cold water, drained, and placed them under an electric fan to cool. Then she prepared cucumber shreds, chicken shreds, mashed garlic, chili oil, sesame paste, sesame oil, and other seasonings. Once the noodles were completely cool, they could be mixed and eaten.
After a lot of work in the kitchen, covered in sweat again, Sisi took half a watermelon from the fridge and scooped it with a spoon, feeling much cooler.
She wondered if Du Du and the others had enough watermelon to eat. She’d have to send some over tomorrow; there was a pile of watermelon in Space.
With a thought, Sisi dialed Zhong Anmei’s house phone, but the little ones weren’t home.
"Ah Liu and Feifei took the kids out for snow cones, Huahua said they wanted to go boating in the park, so they’ll probably be back later." Zhong Anmei laughed.
Sisi suddenly became anxious; why did they go out?
"Weren’t the kids told not to go out? Why did they go out again?" Sisi was worried.
Zhong Anmei then remembered Sisi’s instructions from a few days ago, apologizing: "Mainly, the kids are really bored staying at home all day. Feifei suggested taking a few kids out for ice, and thinking Feifei’s skills were good, I thought there wouldn’t be a problem. Besides, it’s been so many days, you can’t possibly keep them locked up forever, can you?"
Sisi suppressed her inner worry; this was her fault for not explaining clearly. Zhong Anmei also had a good point; kids like Du Du at that age can’t be kept down.
There shouldn’t be any trouble, should there? Shangguan is with them!
Sisi tried to calm her inner worries and asked: "How long have they been out? Did Yang Shu go?"
"More than two hours now. Yang Shu went to meet a client; it’s just Feifei and Ah Liu with the kids." Zhong Anmei said.
"I see, then it’s fine. Let me know when the kids come back." Sisi forced a smile, feeling absent-minded.
Zhong Anmei heard Sisi’s worries and couldn’t help feeling she was getting worked up over nothing, and comforted her: "No need to worry, there are so many people, and it’s in the city, what could happen? They’ll definitely be back in less than an hour."
Sisi absentmindedly hung up the phone, thought for a moment, and then paged Shangguan. Shangguan didn’t like using a cell phone, saying it wasn’t free, and the cell phone Sisi had given her was left at home, otherwise, she could have called her directly.
But after waiting for more than ten minutes, Shangguan hadn’t called back, and Mo Liu didn’t even have a pager, so Sisi had no way of knowing the kids’ situation.
