CHAPTER 416: CHAPTER 237 USEFUL

For some reason, Shu Wan always had an inexplicable intuition that the mysterious old man who had suddenly appeared might be related to Qi Yuan.

"Why is there no contact information?"

Shu Wan flipped through the documents but did not find any contact information for the tenant.

"I’ve had someone look into this. When this old man signed the contract, he didn’t leave any contact information. He paid the rent for three months in one go and moved out as soon as the three months were up. No one can get in touch with him."

"When exactly did he move out?"

"On the 12th of last month."

Shu Wan hesitated for a moment. She had a good memory and naturally remembered that she had met the mysterious old man on the 12th of last month.

"I can continue looking into it for you and let you know as soon as I have some leads."

"Okay," Shu Wan nodded, "Thank you."

"Don’t mention it."

After the business was taken care of, Xiao Yan’s expression took on a teasing light. He leaned in slightly, his eyes bright, "Speaking seriously though, when are you going to divorce Fu Siyu? What’s the point with someone as old-fashioned as him?"

"That seems to have nothing to do with you."

"Whether it has to do with me, mainly depends on you." Xiao Yan’s lips curved into a flirtatious smile, his seductive eyes forming an enticing arc, "Think it over."

"Not interested," Shu Wan said indifferently.

"Alright then." A hint of loss, which even he hadn’t noticed himself, flashed through Xiao Yan’s eyes as his smile spread, "Luckily, I’m patient."

"Then I’ll be leaving now."

Shu Wan stood up, ready to leave.

"Ah." Xiao Yan sighed lightly, "I wanted to spend a little more time with you, but alas, I’m not so fortunate."

Xiao Yan always wore a smile, and it was hard to tell what was true and what was false in his words. Shu Wan listened and then forgot about them.

As they walked out into the courtyard, Xiao Lin was building a snowman. He turned his head and saw Shu Wan leaving, quickly standing up, "Sister Shu, aren’t you staying for lunch?"

"No need, I still have some things to do."

"Okay."

Xiao Lin seemed reluctant as he cast a resentful look at Xiao Yan, clearly blaming him for being ineffectual and unable to keep someone around.

Xiao Yan and Xiao Lin accompanied Shu Wan to the outside, and as soon as they exited the main door, they saw the familiar Rolls-Royce.

Xiao Yan’s gaze darkened slightly, instinctively glancing at the car window.

Even though the car window was not rolled down, Xiao Yan knew that Fu Siyu was sitting inside.

"Watch your step; there’s a stair."

Seeing that Shu Wan was talking to Xiao Lin and not paying attention to the stairs, Xiao Yan reminded her. His arm instinctively blocked behind Shu Wan, and from the angle of view in front, it looked as though he was holding her in a half-embrace.

Shu Wan was completely unaware of this.

At that moment, the car door opened, and Fu Siyu, dressed in a suit, stepped out of the car, walking over with a heavy gaze.

Upon seeing Fu Siyu, Xiao Yan instinctively narrowed his eyes, "Mr. Fu, how do you have time to come here?"

"Collecting my wife."

Fu Siyu’s terse reply of three words caused a slight change in Xiao Yan’s expression.

Xiao Yan instinctively looked towards Shu Wan, and seeing that she did not deny what Fu Siyu had said, his heart sank, "Lady Shu is not a child, Mr. Fu’s desire for control is a bit too strong."

"Whether I’m strong or not is none of outsiders’ concern," Fu Siyu said coldly.

As they spoke, the chill that leaked from their exchange was nearly enough to freeze someone solid; even Xiao Lin subconsciously shrank his neck. Shu Wan had no choice but to speak up, even if she didn’t want to.

She turned around and glanced at Fu Siyu, "You go back to the car first and wait for me."

The commanding tone of her words startled Xiao Lin. However, in the next second, he saw Fu Siyu’s demeanor extinguish like a snuffed flame, as he instantly calmed down and returned to the car.

Then, Shu Wan nodded toward Xiao Yan with an apologetic air, "Sorry, but I need to leave first."

Xiao Yan’s expression instantly soured even more than before. He would rather have been commanded than to receive this polite apology, "Take care."

Shu Wan turned and went back to the car, finding Fu Siyu had already reverted to his usual self, gentle and warm as jade, making it hard to remember the confrontational stance he had just taken with Xiao Yan.

Sensing Shu Wan’s gaze on him, Fu Siyu’s eyes flickered slightly, "I’m very sorry."

Surprisingly, Shu Wan wasn’t angry but instead, the corners of her eyes held a hint of amusement, "So this is how Mr. Fu acts when he’s angry."

Perhaps because Fu Siyu was usually so restrained and seldom showed his emotions, his anger was astonishing to behold.

Fu Siyu was taken aback for a moment, a trace of helplessness flashing across his eyes, "I am human, after all."

Humans have their emotions and desires, and naturally, they become angry when provoked.

"Calm down," Shu Wan poured Fu Siyu a cup of tea, "Let’s not be angry anymore after you drink this tea, okay?"

Fu Siyu nodded, took the cup, and finished the tea in two gulps, "It’s nice, quite sweet."

"Sweet?" Shu Wan was puzzled, "Isn’t this tea rather bitter?"

"I wasn’t talking about the tea," Fu Siyu said with a hint of a smile, his lips slightly curved as he looked at Shu Wan meaningfully.

"....." Shu Wan felt warmth rise to her cheeks, "That’s not, you—"

"What? I haven’t even mentioned what was sweet, and you already know? Then tell me, what am I talking about?"

What could Shu Wan say? She looked at Fu Siyu with a bit of helplessness.

But Shu Wan wasn’t really angry, and so her look was more one of playful annoyance, which only drew a softer gaze from Fu Siyu. She couldn’t help but avert her eyes subconsciously.

Outside the car, the cold wind howled, but inside it was warm and cozy, the air itself seeming to carry a heat that wound around them, making it hard to breathe.

At that moment, the quiet in the car was broken by the sound of a ringing phone, which Fu Siyu answered.

As his warm gaze left her, Shu Wan finally let out a sigh of relief.

Shu Wan was seated close enough to Fu Siyu to clearly hear that Qin Lv was calling.

Qin Lv was reporting on work, and Shu Wan didn’t pay much attention. She lowered the car window a crack, letting in a breeze charged with the crisp scent of snow to dissipate some of the sultriness inside the car.

In the meantime, as Qin Lv finished reporting on work over the phone, he brought up Shu Wan, "The jewelry you asked me to custom order from Latin America has arrived, and at the Film and Television City, I’ve had people speed up the work to ensure the quickest completion of the repairs, so the lady can go film."

"I know," Fu Siyu responded indifferently and then ended the call.

This time, it was Shu Wan who broke the silence, "The Housekeeper and Qin Lv, those are your arrangements, right?"

"Yes."

Fu Siyu wasn’t the slightest bit flustered when Shu Wan caught him out; it was as if he had anticipated this all along, "Although it’s a bit underhanded, it’s effective."

Shu Wan smiled helplessly, "I haven’t even said anything, how do you know it’s effective?"

"Now you can say," Fu Siyu said with an intense gaze fixed on Shu Wan, "Are you willing to accept my invitation?"

"Yes."

Just as Fu Siyu had said, it was indeed useful.
