Chapter 172 Hell Might Break Loose
CHAPTER 172: CHAPTER 172 HELL MIGHT BREAK LOOSE
"You are awake?" I tried to smooth down my hair, swallowing nervously. "I saw what they did to you, they knocked you and tried to abduct you."
"Is that so?" A faint smirk formed on his lips, and a glint of mischief passed through his eyes so fast that I missed it.
The next second, he slumped on my shoulders, almost falling to the ground... instinctively my hands flew up to catch him, placing his head properly on my shoulders.
"My neck hurts and I am very weak... can you take me home? They might finish the job if I go home alone with them." He weakly said, his arms hanging weakly around my waist.
I glared daggers at the abductors. Mr. Four eyes was busy combing his fingers through his hair, while Mr. Green eyes slowly got on his feet, dusting off the dirt on his clothes. None of them showed even an expression of care or regret. ’Disdainful beings.’
"Both of you, carry him to my carriage... or I have you both locked in the dungeon." I tilted my chin up.
"Oh, I’m scared." Mr. Green eyes shrugged his shoulders before those smiles returned to his face.
Meanwhile, I caught Mr. Four eyes rolling his eyes.
"Now!"
After a while, they reluctantly decided to help. But what I didn’t see coming was Damon refusing to let go of me.
"I’m scared of them." He shakily whispered in my ears.
My eyes widened. "Do they treat you that badly?" My voice cracked.
He weakly bobbed his head up and down, before burying his head in the nook of my neck. "Don’t worry, I’ll go with you to your home. And I’ll make sure to teach them a good lesson." I said with my eyes burning with conviction.
After walking a few feet with someone twice my weight on my shoulder, I felt like I would collapse any moment from now. My legs trembled underneath our weight.
"Are you okay?" Damon whispered in my ear, sending a strange sensation through me.
"Yes.." I swallowed. "I am as sturdy as a horse," I said with a chuckle that sounds like someone minutes from dying.
The two abductors walked slowly behind us. Mr. Four eyes yawned as if all this was boring to him.
My nose flared, if it wasn’t because of him, this wouldn’t have happened. Why did he have to strike him on his neck?
After the walk that felt like an eternity in hell, I finally made it to the place where my carriage was parked.
"Can you carry him inside the carriage now?" My voice trembled with anger.
I was quite taken aback by their action, because of how quickly they came to my aid this time around.
Feeling the heavy weight off my shoulders, I exhaled in relief. Before I could climb inside the carriage, a voice rang from behind me.
"Princess Aeris!" The voice sounded familiar.
I turned around, and Rhydian was running towards me. "Where are you going at this time of the night? It is already past midnight." He peeked to see who was inside the carriage.
I blocked his line of sight. "I’m just going to get... fresh air."
He paused, his eyes narrowed down on me. "You are lying, princess, and I can smell the scent of men coming from inside the carriage..." his jaws clenched. "What are you up to?"
I bit my lower lip, it was not like I was nervous in front of him. I was only afraid that the King would hear of this and that would be the end of my freedom and the lives of the men.
"Rhydian, lower your voice." I placed my finger on his lips. "The people inside are my friends, and I need to get them out to safety. So you must not tell anyone about it." I pulled my hand back to my side.
Suddenly, weird noises came from inside the carriage. I quickly climbed up to see what was happening, but nothing was out of normal. Damon rested his head against the wooden plank of the carriage with his eyes closed, while the other two troublemakers sat diligently.
The moment my eyes met Mr. Green eyes, he flashed me a smile. I dropped the curtain before turning back to Rhydian who already sat on the front of the carriage.
"What are you doing, Rydian?" My voice came out in a high pitch as I wasn’t expecting him to be there.
"As your friend, I need to make sure you are safe... It’s not like there is anything I can say to change your mind." He grabbed the reins of the horses.
"But you don’t need to do this... I mean you are a distinguished guest. You are not supposed to be here."
"And you think you can go out of the castle gate without me?" His lips pulled up into a smile. "Let me help you, princess."
I bit my lips again, before sighing dejectedly. "Fine, I’ll accept your help only this once... but at least let the coachman drive the carriage."
"Let’s use my carriage to avoid suspicion."
My eyes sparkled. "You are very smart, Rydian."
The noise came again from inside the carriage. I opened the curtain, but there the men were quiet, my brows knitted together in confusion.
"We are not using this carriage, bring him out."
Steadily we got into Rhydian’s carriage. The carriage had passed the gate... but the air inside the carriage was so thick that a knife would slice through it.
I sat beside Damon, who had his head resting on my shoulders. While Rydian sat on my other side. His eyes glared at Damon as if he wanted to throw him out of the carriage and far away from me.
Meanwhile, Mr. Green eyes and Mr. Four eyes were glaring daggers at Rhydian as if they wanted to rip his throat out.
I sat, barely breathing because I feared that if I did, hell might break loose.
