(Damon’s POV)

My wolf pounced within the walls of my mind, clawing at me to let it out. Fur rippled over my body, my claws elongated. My eyes turned grey.

"Where is she?" My voice came out low, carrying the weight of a sharp sword.

"That way..." she pointed to the opposite end of the corridor.

I didn’t wait for her to finish before I stormed toward the direction. I didn’t need her guard, I could trace both her smell and the faint scent of Ember in the air.

My jaw tensed. For the first time, I felt weird and angry... extremely angry. The scent led me to the front of a dark brown door. I took a deep sniff, and the scent of Ember was stronger here. But there was another scent... one that rubbed me the wrong way... a man’s scent.

.......

(Ember’s POV)

More heat pooled in my lower abdomen, but I felt repulsed by the sight of it. ’I’ll never romanticize a man who has assaulted me and treated me like a piece of trash... just because I’m horny.’

"Stay... away," I cried, dragging myself to the other end of the bed.

’Universe... moon goddess... save me... please!’

Before I could reach the other side of the bed, his fingers wrapped around my leg, pulling me back. A scream tore out of my throat.

"Do you think you can run away from me..." he growled, yanking my hair. My slender fingers wrapped around his hand, trying to loosen his hold on me.

"You don’t want me inside you?" He pulled my head up to look at him, his eyes sparkling in delight.

I cried harder. "Damonnnnnn!"

He scoffed. "You think he would still want you back after I’m done with you?" He paused, then his lips curled into a sinister smile. "Let me help quench your thirst."

He threw me on the bed. Then he began to walk toward me. Tears streamed out of my eyes as I glanced toward the door. ’Isn’t he going to save me this time?’

Suddenly, the door broke open; it flew a meter away from its position. A figure stood at the center of the doorway, his chest heaved heavily. His sharp claws glistened in the dim light. His raven black hair was ruffled, and his eyes were silvery grey.

"Master..." I muttered, a small smile curved on my lips. ’He came at last.’

The temperature in the room dropped drastically, as his overbearing aura crept into every corner of the wall.

Erik’s expression was replaced by dread. "Alpha Damon," he called cautiously, taking a few steps back.

My breath hitched, I squeezed my legs together.

The air thickened with something I couldn’t describe, a tension so sharp cut into my skin. Damon didn’t charge or growl. He just walked forward slowly, calmly, as if he had all the time in the world. But something about him felt... like the calm before the storm.

"Alpha Damon..." Erik stammered, his own claws elongating from his nails. "Please, I didn’t touch her. I didn’t..."

Damon remained quiet, his gaze fixated on Erik like a predator watching its prey. His silence was worse than any roar.

I wrapped my arms around myself, shivering even though I was burning inside. Damon turned his head slightly, just enough for me to see his eyes.

"Close your eyes," he said. His voice was so calm, as if everything was alright.

I froze.

"I said... close them."

I sluggishly shut my eyes.

Then a horrifying sound came. It was a terrible, wet sound, like fabric tearing, but thicker. Then a cry followed. A blood-chilling cry that made my nails dig into the sheets.

"STOP! PLEASE!" Erik’s voice cracked. "I was wrong... I was wrong... please...!"

Another sound of something snapping followed. Then the thud of something heavy hitting the floor. I didn’t need to look to know what it was.

"Let me go... let me..." Erik choked on his own words before growling aggressively.

"Touch what belongs to me..." Damon murmured. His voice was low and controlled, as if he was reciting a poem. My body shuddered from the mere power that came from his calmness. It was so scary that I wanted to burrow a hole and hide. "...And this is what you get."

Another wailing followed. Then something cracked, it was worse this time. Followed by a sound so horrific, I slapped my hand over my mouth to keep from retching.

"NO!... DAMN IT!... NO!" Erik howled painfully.

Then silence followed.

For a second, I thought it was over. Until Damon spoke again, cold and terrifying.

"Now you’ll never touch anyone again."

There was a sickening rip, a tearing noise that made my blood freeze.

A strangled cry cut off mid-sound. I felt it in my bones that it was over. That the bully who had bullied me and the real Ember was gone... never to hurt us again.

A long heavy silence followed.

Then I heard slow footsteps. The floor creaked slightly under Damon’s weight.

"Open your eyes."

My eyes fluttered open even before I could process his words. My lips parted, but no sound came out.

My eyes drifted to the floor. ’Oh my God!’ The floor was painted with blood, and the walls were sprayed with blood as if it was an artwork. One of Erik’s arms lay twisted near the wall, with broken bones protruding from the elbow. The other one, I couldn’t find it. His body slumped in a heap. He lay face down, unmoving. His naked body was covered in blood.

My stomach churned. I turned away from the sight, throwing up the contents of my stomach. ’Fuck! This guy is a beast!’ I threw up again. This just reinforced both my fear and respect for him.

He walked toward me like none of it had touched him, as if he hadn’t just dismantled a man limb by limb.

"You’re safe now," he said, his eyes swept over my body, his brows furrowed slightly at me for having nothing but undies on.
