Chapter 175: Huo Mingjie Is Furious
CHAPTER 175: CHAPTER 175: HUO MINGJIE IS FURIOUS
The next morning, Song Yun’s lashes trembled The first ray of sunshine made its way into the dorm room, forcing him to open his eyes.
He rubbed his eyes a bit and he sat up. He gasped seeing a figure in his room.
"Who are you?" He questioned carefully, silently reaching for his phone.
"You only spent one night away from home, and you can’t even remember your brother’s build."
"Song Kai." Song Yun whispered, his eyes widening slightly.
Song Kai smiled. He placed one leg over another, and stared at Song Yun pointedly.
"Why didn’t you come home?" He demanded, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Song Yun didn’t answer. Instead, he left the bed, and walked to the bathroom.
"I asked you a question, and you are to answer me." Song Kai yelled, startling Song Yun into place. "Why didn’t you come home?"
Song Yun turned to look at him, and smiled. "I didn’t wish to come home. I can’t bear the sight of your wife. Happy now?" His tone carried just the right amount of defiance as he stared straight into Song Kai’s eyes.
Song Kai smirked as he slowly rose to his feet. He tapped Song Yun’s shoulders and his smirk deepened.
"Stay away from Huo Feng’s sister. I’m warning you."
Song Yun looked at hand on his shoulder and he snickered.
"And what if I don’t? What would you do about it?" Song Yun asked fearlessly.
Song Kai’s lips curled. "She didn’t tell you about her kidnapping? I thought you both were so close."
Song Yun’s face changed. "That was you?" He pointed at his brother, his face red with fury.
Song Kai opened his arms wide and laughed softly. "Of course. She was so scared. She could have died. She’s lucky though, she has Yue Ning as her Sister-in-law."
Song Yun took a step back in shock. "How... how could you do that? Father... Father would be so disappointed when he learns about this."
Song Kai sighed. "Father? Father doesn’t care about what I do. As long as it doesn’t ruin the family’s reputation, he isn’t concerned."
Song Yun’s heart raced. "I can’t believe... can’t believe I’m being compared to you. You are not human, you’re a devil!"
Song Kai’s smile dropped, and a terrifying coldness appeared in his eyes. "Repeat your words."
Song Yun swallowed but he didn’t wish to show any weakness in front of his brother. "I said you’re a devil. In fact, you are more terrifying than a devil."
Song Kai chuckled humorlessly. He stared straight into Song Yun’s eyes and the latter met his gaze fearlessly.
"You are just like me—bold and fearless. I like that."
Song Yun scoffed but didn’t answer him.
"Come home. And I have warned you. Stay away from her, or you might just be the cause of her death."
Without waiting for Song Yun’s reply, Song Kai walked out..
Song Yun processed his brother’s words, and he took a step back, gasping.
"Yan is not safe. She’s... not safe. I need to protect her." He murmured to himself, pacing around the small dorm room.
---------------
"Why are you all dressed up?" Yue Ning asked, her brows furrowing as concern flashed through her eyes seeing Huo Yan approach the dining table.
"To go to college?" Huo Yan answered, confusion etched around her features.
"You need to rest. You’ve been through so much." Yue Ning suggested.
Huo Yan shook her head immediately. "I have classes today, and it is important. I absolutely cannot miss it."
Yue Ning bit her lips, turning her attention to Huo Feng. "She’s your sister. Try to convince her."
Taking a deep breath, she added. "I’m still shaken by yesterday’s events. I won’t be at peace knowing that she is still in danger. Huo Fei hasn’t been dealt with."
Huo Yan exhaled as she took her seat. Both ladies turned their attention to him.
Huo Feng calmly placed the cutleries on the table. "Your Sister-in-law has a point..." He paused, and Yue Ning heaved a sigh of relief.
"But, classes are important."
"Mr. Huo." Yue Ning protested, her beautiful grows knitting.
Huo Feng placed one hand over hers. "You don’t have to worry about her. I’ll have guards watch over 24/7. And as for Huo Fei—" His expression darkened. "—she will pay for trying to hurt my sister."
Yue Ning remained silent. Since he had spoken, she couldn’t go against him. She turned to Huo Yan and patted her hands.
Meanwhile, Huo Fei was in her dorm room, seated on the bed. She continually bit her lips as she checked her phone.
"Still no response." She muttered, a bad feeling slowly creeping into her chest.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and her eyes flashed immediately.
"Who’s there?" She asked loudly, but carefully. But there was no response.
She took a deep breath before walking to the door. Slowly, she opened the door and it creaked softly. Peeking out, she let out a sigh of relief seeing that it was her brother.
"Would you let me in?" He asked, and she opened the door widely.
"Why are you here? You are not meant to be in the girls’ dormitory." Huo Fei demanded with her hands folded.
Huo Mingjie stared straight into her eyes.
"I’m your brother, a member of the prestigious Huo family. Do you think I wouldn’t be given the opportunity to visit my sister?" He answered as he took a seat on the empty single couch.
"Then, why are you here then?" She demanded once again.
"What did you do to Huo Yan?" He questioned, narrowing his eyes.
Huo Fei chuckled awkwardly, scratching her head. "What do you mean, brother?"
"Don’t play with me. Do you know what your foolishness has cost me? Cost us?"
"What are you talking about, brother? I have no idea what you are talking about?" Huo Fei denied.
Huo Mingjie leaned back, his eyes hard and unblinking. "Don’t test my patience, Xiao Fei. You sent those thugs after Huo Yan, didn’t you? You also hurt her in the school’s restroom. That was you as well."
Huo Fei froze, her smile faltering. "That’s absurd. Why would I—"
"Because you’ve always been jealous of her!" Huo Mingjie slammed his palm against the armrest, his voice thundering through the small dorm room.
"Ever since we were kids, you’ve hated that she got more attention. You think I didn’t notice? You think Father didn’t? You think Huo Feng didn’t?"
Her lips quivered. "You’re wrong! I just wanted her to learn her place. Everyone acts like she’s some kind of saint—"
"She is our cousin!" He cut her off sharply, rising from the couch.
"Whatever issues you have, you don’t drag the family name through the mud. Do you realize what would’ve happened if she died yesterday? Do you realize who’s cleaning up your mess now?"
Huo Fei’s eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
"Huo Feng is furious. He’s already ordered a full investigation. And guess what, dear sister?" He sneered. "Your name came up first."
The color drained from her face. "That’s impossible," she muttered. "I made sure—"
"You made sure of what?" Huo Mingjie snapped, stepping closer. "That your hired men wouldn’t talk? That no one would trace it back to you? Fei, you’re careless. They’re already in police custody."
Her heart skipped. "No... no, that can’t be. They wouldn’t dare mention my name—"
"Then you’re dumber than I thought," he spat. "They were caught by Yue Ning. Beaten badly by her. One of them had your photo on his phone. A photo you sent when you ordered them to ’scare’ her. You think that can be erased?"
Huo Fei took a step back, her knees trembling. "Brother, you have to help me," she whispered. "Please. You can’t let Huo Feng find out I was behind it."
"Huo Feng already knows," Huo Mingjie said coldly. "And so does Yue Ning."
She gasped. "No... that witch—"
"Watch your tongue," he warned. "You’re in enough trouble already. Huo Feng’s planning something. He hasn’t said it outright, but you know him. Once he decides you’re guilty, even Father can’t save you."
Tears welled up in her eyes. "Brother, please... I didn’t mean to hurt her. I just wanted to scare her off, make her stop acting so perfect all the time."
"You almost got her killed!" he snapped. "You’ve crossed a line that can’t be uncrossed, Fei. You need to fix this before it’s too late."
"Fix it?" she whispered, trembling. "How do I fix this?"
"Start by staying out of sight," he said after a long pause. "Don’t go to class. Don’t show your face anywhere near Huo Yan or Yue Ning. And whatever you do, don’t anger Huo Feng again."
Huo Fei looked up at him, fear and confusion flickering in her eyes. "And if he still comes for me?"
Huo Mingjie stared down at her, his tone grim. "Then pray, Xiao Fei. Pray that he shows mercy. He would be just like the grim reaper."
