CHAPTER 27: CHAPTER 27: YUCHEN MAKES A MISTAKE

Two employees huddled in a corner as they discussed among themselves.

"Did you see Ms. Yue just now?"

"I did, and that’s why I called you. Do you think someone told her about Mr. Huo bringing a woman to the company?"

"Isn’t it obvious?"

"But why is she here though? Everyone knows that she rejected CEO Huo, so I am confused as to why she is here."

"Who knows what’s going on in her head? But let’s forget about her, and get busy. The manager mustn’t catch us slacking off during working hours."

Meanwhile, Yue Chen directly walked to Huo Feng’s office, but she was denied entry by his secretary.

"What do you mean by this obvious disrespect? Do you think I don’t dare tell Brother Huo to fire you? What do you mean I can’t enter his office?"

Yue Chen was already in a bad mood when she heard that Huo Feng brought an unknown woman to the office. From the description, it seemed to be her sister..

Now, his secretary was denying her entry into his office. She didn’t know why she felt like Huo Feng was slipping from her fingers.

No! She couldn’t let that happen. She still had use for Huo Feng, or rather, Kang Beichen still had use for him.

"I’m sorry Miss. But this was the order given by CEO Huo, he specifically mentioned that you shouldn’t be allowed into his office."

The secretary was actually caught in a difficult position. On one hand, she was scared of Yue Chen and her explosive anger.

On the other hand, there was her boss. She hated to be caught in such situations.

Yue Chen, on the other hand, took a step back in disbelief. She parted her lips but she couldn’t utter any words.

It was only after a while she finally spoke. "Do you mean Brother Huo personally ordered you to keep me out of his office?" She demanded.

The secretary nodded.

"CEO Huo!" She called out with relief when she saw Huo Feng

But she was taken aback when she saw an unfamiliar woman walking beside the CEO.

She turned to look at Yue Chen who was gritting her teeth in anger while glaring at the lady. She seemed to have understood something, and tactfully stepped away. She wouldn’t want to be caught in a crossfire.

Yue Ning folded her hands when she saw Yue Chen. She seemed to have underestimated Yue Chen’s influence in Huo Feng’s company.

Perhaps, the first step was to cut Yue Chen’s influence. A calculating look appeared in her eyes as she lowered her head.

Huo Feng, on the other hand, frowned when his eyes met with Yue Chen’s. He wondered what she was doing here.

He didn’t say anything, and directly walked past her, and strode into his office.

Yue Chen snapped her head to look at him, astonished by the sudden turn of events.

All of a sudden, she heard the clicking of tongue, and slowly turned to look at Yue Ning who had a mocking smile on her face.

Pointing at Yue Ning, Yue Chen accused. "It is you. You are the reason for Brother Huo’s change in character."

Yue Ning burst into laughter immediately.

"What’s funny?" Yue Chen asked angrily.

"Your words. Do you think I am someone who will be able to control a man’s thoughts?" Yue Ning stared at her as though she had lost her mind.

"Yue Chen, everyone was aware that Huo Feng has always liked you, but repeated rejections will make someone change his mind. And that too, with someone like Huo Feng."

"And besides, weren’t you the one that convinced Mr. Huo to get married to me? You should deal with the consequences of your actions."

Yue Ning stared at her coldly. She didn’t care if her words were harsh, she only wanted Yue Chen to see the truth.

But considering the type of person she was, there was a ninety percent chance that she wouldn’t change. Rather, she would end up worse.

"If you are done settling your emotions, then you may leave the company. As you can see, Mr. Huo doesn’t welcome you here," Yue Ning declared, and walked straight into Huo Feng’s office.

Yue Chen watched her walk into the office, and a malicious glint flashed through her eyes while she clenched her fingers.

"You might seem smug for now, but just wait for me. Once I’ve dealt with you, Huo Feng would be the one to throw you out himself."

She vowed with a determined gaze.

Picking up the remaining pieces of her broken pride, she walked out.

She passed by the secretary who sneered loudly.

Yue Chen hastened her footsteps. She had been thoroughly embarrassed today, and she wouldn’t take it lying. She would deal with every single one who had humiliated her.

Meanwhile, Yue Ning who was currently in Huo Feng’s office had a smile on her face while glancing at him silently.

"Should I get the driver to drive you home?" Huo Feng asked, breaking the silence.

"There is no need. I want to watch Mr. Huo work, and who knows, I can help solve some issues," Yue Ning immediately rejected him.

She was finally alone with him. She would never give up on this opportunity to get closer to him.

Huo Feng fixed his gaze on her worriedly. "But you might be bored." He pointed out.

"Don’t worry, I have my novel here with me. I can never be bored with it by my side."

She happily flashed the novel in her hands at him.

Huo Feng had no other option than to give in to her. He had to admit that her presence made his heart race.

When this phenomenon began to occur, he had no idea. But that didn’t mean he rejected it, instead, he was more curious to see where it would lead to.

They continued in silence, but it wasn’t an uncomfortable nor an awkward one. Rather, they enjoyed the silence.

Yue Ning raised her head to stare at Huo Feng who was seriously looking at the papers, and a smile appeared on her lips. ’They were finally alone.’ She thought to herself.

There was a sudden knock at the door, disrupting the silence.

Both Huo Feng and Yue Ning raised their heads simultaneously.

Before Huo Feng could speak, the person at the door had already barged into the office.

"Ah Feng, how have..."

"Oh my, who’s this beautiful lady here? Don’t tell me you are cheating on your wife?"

Huo Feng gave a disgusted look to the man who had just entered his office.

"Ah Feng, even if you dislike your wife, that doesn’t mean you should cheat on her. You should think about what she would feel once she hears about it."

Yue Ning who was being termed ’a mistress’ felt her lips twitch. She wondered what sort of friends Huo Feng kept.

"He Yuchen!" Huo Feng called out through gritted teeth.

"What? Are you mad at me because I am calling you out? Listen, I am doing this because I am your friend, and I want what’s best for you."

He turned to look at Yue Ning who was just a second from bursting out into laughter.

"Listen Miss, you shouldn’t ruin your future by being a mistress. This man here is married. If his wife finds out he is keeping a mistress, how do you think she’d react? You are also a lady, try to put yourself in her shoes."

He Yuchen said a lot. Yue Ning couldn’t stand seeing him in the dark, so she told him the truth.

"Mr, I am his wife. Legal wife!"

He Yuchen was stunned. "Miss, you shouldn’t be joking about such a matter. It’s serious." He advised.

He thought Yue Ning was joking, but seeing how serious she looked, he thought of something.

He turned to look at Huo Feng who nodded.

"She’s my wife, Yue Ning," Huo Feng confirmed.

He Yuchen touched his nose awkwardly. He said so many things in front of the legal wife. He wished the earth would open and swallow him.
