Transmigration Into A Novel: Save The Second Male Lead
Chapter 40: Huo Feng’s Warning
CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 40: HUO FENG’S WARNING
Two days later, Yue Ning was finally discharged from the hospital. Though her leg was wrapped and tender, the doctor assured them it would heal without lasting damage.
Huo Yan walked closely by her side, almost fussing as she supported her toward the room prepared for her. Her lips were pressed in a pout, but her eyes couldn’t hide the lingering fear she had carried these past days.
"Sister-in-law, you have no idea how scared I was," she muttered, her voice soft but heavy with emotion. "Don’t scare me like that again, my heart won’t be able to take it."
Yue Ning gave a faint smile, her steps steady though she limped slightly. "I didn’t plan to scare you."
"You say that, but..." Huo Yan trailed off, hugging her arm tightly as if to make sure she wouldn’t vanish.
Yue Ning didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I didn’t die, did I?"
Huo Yan shook her head. "But still, I don’t want to go through such trauma again."
They finally got to the room, and Huo Yan carefully placed her on the bed. The maids had offered to help her out, but she rejected. It was probably out of guilt.
Huo Yan stretched forth her hand towards Yue Ning. "Promise me you won’t do something reckless in the future."
Yue Ning looked at her outstretched hands, and she pursed her lips.
She looked up at Huo Yan who had a stern expression and her eyes crinkled in delight.
"I am not promising, but I’ll try to stay away from trouble." She took her hands with a smile. She couldn’t make any promises. After all, she hadn’t forgotten the real reason for her transmigration.
Huo Yan nodded, feeling satisfied. Although it wasn’t what she hoped for, it was still better than nothing.
"I will ask the maids to prepare a light breakfast for you," she said, and walked out of the room.
’The Host did absolutely well.’
The system’s mechanical voice suddenly resounded in her mind, and she smiled softly with a deep look in her eyes.
"I did well, didn’t I? I will never allow both of them to go through the same ending again." Yue Ning vowed.
’I am glad you think that way. Below is the status of your mission.’
[Hidden Mission: Save Huo Yan]
[Status: Completed]
[Reward: Hidden skill gained.]
Yue Ning looked at the panel with a thoughtful gaze. "System, what’s the skill? Are you trying to cheat me again?" She asked with her hands folded.
’Of course not.’ The system was quick to defend itself. ’This skill can only be activated in a life or death situation, that’s why it’s hidden.’ It patiently explained, lest Yue Ning lost her trust in it.
"Oh..." Yue Ning muttered with her head lowered, disappointment laced in her voice. She was actually looking forward to seeing what skill she earned. But it seemed like she would have to put it on hold for now.
The panel suddenly changed, and Yue Ning’s eyes were focused on it.

Yue Ning’s lips twitched as her eyes fixated on the skills.
"System, is there any need for you to put the second skill?" Yue Ning asked, disdain evident in her voice.
’I am sorry to disappoint you, Host.’ The system’s not-so apologetic voice rang out.
Yue Ning scoffed. After she had gone through everything, she closed the panel, and laid down to sleep.
______________
Meanwhile, at the Huo’s Corps, Huo Feng stared at the report in his hands with a dark look.
"Bosd..." Ah Si called out tentatively. Huo Feng’s expression was stormy, and he knew that he (Huo Feng) was in a really bad mood.
"It seems I’ve been quite lenient with my cousin and his family," Huo Feng finally spoke up.
Ah Si swallowed, silently lighting a candle for Huo Mingjie’s family.
What was in Huo Feng’s hands were the results of the investigation for the incident that took place two days ago. It turns out that Huo Fei was behind it.
"Boss, how do you intend to deal with her?" Ah Si probed.
Huo Feng’s lips curled up. Ah Si shivered instantly. The look in Huo Feng’s was deadly and dangerous.
"Let’s go back to the ancestral home today," Huo Feng suddenly said.
"Ah..." Ah Si trailed off.
Gripping his pen tightly, Huo Feng hissed. "We are only giving my cousin and his family a warning."
Ah Si could only nod at his words. There was nothing he could do at this point, he only hoped that the second branch family would learn their mistakes.
_____________
After he left the company, Huo Feng didn’t directly go home. Instead, he went straight to the ancestral mansion.
When he arrived, Huo Hapieng and Zhang Yuxiu were in the living room, enjoying tea time.
"Ah Feng is home. What brings you home?" Zhang Yuxiu placed her teacup on the table when she saw Huo Feng stride in.
Huo Feng glanced at the couple coldly before dropping a folder in front of Huo Hapieng.
"I hope that once Uncle sees what’s in that folder, you’ll be able to control your kids." Huo Feng eyed him as he took his seat calmly.
One of the maids rushed to bring him a cup of tea when they noticed he had settled down.
On hearing his words, Huo Hapieng hurriedly picked up the folder. He glanced at Huo Feng who had a blank expression, and he had a bad feeling.
Once he read the contents of the folder, his face turned pale as the colour drained off his face.
Zhang Yuxiu who was seated beside him was confused by his drastic reaction. She leaned closer, trying to take a peek into the folder, but Huo Hapieng evaded her.
"What could possibly scare you like that? Don’t tell me Ah Fei made a little mistake again." Her tone was dismissive, almost indulgent, as if the matter couldn’t be serious.
A smile finally appeared on Huo Feng’s face...though it carried no warmth—only danger. Huo Hapieng could feel the weight of the smile, and his grip on the folder tightened.
"Rest assured Nephew, I will discipline my kids properly," Huo Hapieng vowed with a deep look in his eyes. Huo Feng’s strength couldn’t be underestimated.
"Discipline? Over what—childish mischief?" Zhang Yuxiu pressed, frowning. "They’re still young. Must you make such a fuss?"
"Enough!" Huo Hapieng snapped, silencing her. "You only know how to pamper the children—you never think of the consequences!"
Huo Feng rose to his feet, his gaze sweeping over the couple like a blade.
"I’ve done my part. Whether your children live peacefully... or destroy themselves, depends on how tightly you hold their reins."
