CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: YUN LI’S ARRIVAL.

"But before we meet up, I have a question." Yun Li paused, taking the form of a gossipy person.

On hearing the pause, Yue Ning chuckled. She was aware of her antics, and she always loved it. But she never expected that she would experience it.

"I heard you got married to Young Master Huo, how true is this?"

Yue Ning pursed her lips. She expected this question. "Very true. We’ve been married for a month." She admitted.

"Ah!" There was a squeal from the other end. Yue Ning could only rub her forehead while feeling exhausted.

"You actually got married to him. I thought he was hung up on your sister. Wait, let’s forget about that. How does he treat you? Does he treat you well? Do you need me to speak some sense into him?"

Yun Li asked a series of questions, causing Yue Ning to be overwhelmed.

"Which do you want me to respond to first?" Yue Ning answered with a question of her own while feeling exasperated.

Yun Li was silent for a while. She let out a sigh after a few seconds. "I am just worried that you’ll feel aggrieved. Who doesn’t know that Young Master Huo likes your sister?" There was a blaming tone in her voice.

"Matters like these can’t be discussed on the phone," Yue Ning casually reminded her.

Her meaning was clear. She wanted them to meet up.

"I will reserve a spot for us at our usual place." Yun Li immediately said.

Yue Ning hastily rejected her. Staring at her still injured feet, she said. "I had an injury a few days ago, and I still haven’t recovered. Today wouldn’t be feasible."

"What?" Yun Li exclaimed, panic lacing her voice . "How did you get hurt?"

"It’s nothing serious," Yue Ning quickly reassured her. "Just an accident. I’m fine now."

"Fine?" Yun Li scoffed. "You think I’ll just sit still after hearing that? Forget it. If you can’t come to me, then I’ll come to you."

"Yun Li—" Yue Ning tried to protest, but the other end had already gone dead.

She sighed, lowering the phone. Her temples throbbed faintly. Yun Li’s determination hadn’t changed one bit. But this girl, how was she going to get here if she didn’t even have the address.

As Yue Ning mused about this, Yun Li’s call came in once more.

"I forgot to ask you about the address." Yun Li’s voice came from the other end.

Yue Ning pursed her lips while she deliberated on telling her not. She decided on the former. If she didn’t, Yun Li would probably throw a fit.

"Good, I’ll be there soon." Yun Li declared, and the call disconnected.

Yue Ning stared at the darkened phone, and he’d brows creased. She didn’t know what Yun Li’s presence could bring.

’Host,’ the system’s amused voice cut in, ’I think you’re about to get a very lively visitor. I almost pity Young Master Huo already.’

Yue Ning pressed her lips tightly together, unsure whether to laugh or groan.

Not even two hours had passed when the sound of hurried voices echoed outside the villa. Yue Ning was curled up on the sofa with her novel when a servant nervously stepped inside.

"Madam... there’s a lady at the gate insisting she knows you. She—she refused to wait." The servant stammered. The lady at the door was a nutcase.

Before Yue Ning could respond, a familiar voice rang out from the doorway.

"Ning Ning!"

Yun Li stormed in, her heels clicking furiously against the floor. She carried two bags—one stuffed with fruits, the other with tonics. The bags were oversized, it looked like she had raided an entire pharmacy.

"Look at you!" Yun Li’s eyes immediately darted to Yue Ning’s bandaged leg. "You didn’t even tell me you were this hurt. And you said it’s not serious? Do you want me to faint right here?"

As expected of the storm... Yun Li.

Yue Ning pressed a hand to her forehead. "You got here faster than a courier." She felt an incoming headache.

She loved Yun Li’s character in the novel, but experiencing it first-hand... she didn’t know how to feel about it.

"I sped," Yun Li said with a matter-of-fact, plopping the bags down with a thud. "What if you were secretly wasting away? You think I’d sit still? No can’t do"

’Host,’ the system chuckled, ’your friend is... spirited.’

Yue Ning exhaled helplessly as Yun Li marched over, fussing like a mother hen, testing her forehead for fever and muttering complaints.

"So will you tell me how you got hurt?" With her hands on her waist, Yun Li demanded.

Knowing that she couldn’t escape, Yue Ning recounted the entire incident. From being burnt by a burning plank to her being scalded by piping hot tea. She didn’t leave out a single detail, well except who was responsible from scalding.

Yun Li’s face turned grim. "It was Yue Chen, wasn’t it? Of course it was! Who else could manage to pour hot tea on an already injured leg? She probably aimed for your face but missed it!"

She clapped her hands happily as though she had solved a huge mystery.

Yue Ning nearly choked on her own breath. "You—what nonsense are you saying?"

Yun Li managed to guess who it was. Well she couldn’t be blamed. Yue Chen’s previous actions was enough for Yun Li to blame her.

"Nonsense?" Yun Li huffed, hands on her hips. "You think I don’t know her? If there’s even one ounce of misfortune in your life, I’d bet three strings of candied hawthorns it traces back to her. Hah, maybe even five!"

The system chuckled in Yue Ning’s mind. ’Your friend has a special talent: exaggerating reality into conspiracy theories.’

Yue Ning pressed her lips together to hide a smile. "You haven’t changed, Yun Li."

"And you haven’t either," Yun Li shot back. "Still protecting people who don’t deserve it. Honestly, Ning Ning, if you don’t let me beat her up once, I’ll develop internal injuries from the frustration!"
