Closing her eyes for a few seconds, she gathered all her strength as she described everything she had seen—the abandoned factory near the South Lake, the rustic iron, and Huo Yan. She didn’t leave out a single detail.

When she finished, the study fell into silence.

Ah Si gave her a complicated gaze. How was she able to describe it so perfectly?

Huo Feng, on the other hand, studied her. He had a conflicted expression. Every detail she had given was precise, too vivid to just be a gaze.

Logic demanded he questioned her, but his instincts thought otherwise.

Without realising it, he found himself trusting her.

"Ah Si." Huo Feng called out.

"Yes boss." He said, and left the study room leaving the couple.

Fixing his shirt, he said, "you heard her, dispatch all the men. We are saving Huo Yan tonight."

"Yue Ning, you stay here, I’ll bring her back." Huo Feng said to her.

She instinctively shook her head. "I want to go with you. I won’t be rest assured if I don’t accompany you all."

Huo Feng’s gaze hardened instantly. "Absolutely not! You can’t come with us. You are injured, and that isn’t a place for you. Stay here, I’ll bring her back."

Yue Ning shook her head fiercely. "You don’t understand. If I remain here, I’ll go mad. I can’t sit here while she suffers."

"Yue Ning..." Huo Feng’s tone carried finality, but when he saw the look in her eyes, he wavered.

Despite her frail, trembling figure, a fire burned in her eyes. And he wasn’t willing to extinguish it.

The room was heavy with thick silence and tension. Both of them met each other’s eyes, unwilling to back down.

Finally, with a slow exhale, Huo Feng gave in.

"Fine, but promise to stay close to me at all times. If anything happens to you..." he paused while he swallowed. "I won’t be able to handle it." He confessed.

Normally, Yue Ning would have blushed, and the System would have teased her. But the situation was not good.

Relief washed all over Yue Ning, and she allowed her tense shoulders to relax.

"I promise to stay by your side. Just... bring me back to her."

Huo Feng’s jaws tightened. He knew he was making a dangerous move by bringing her along, but he was aware that he couldn’t stop her.

The few weeks he has spent with her made him realise one thing—she was determined.

"I will go change," she said, and rose to her feet.

Huo Feng rushed to her side to steady her.

"Should I take you to the room?" He asked.

"No need. Just get prepared." She said, and left his embrace.

Huo Feng watched her leave the study, and he could only sigh.

With great struggle, Yue Ning made her way back to her room. Once she walked in, Yun Li was seated on the bed with folded arms.

"Ning Ning, you need to rest." She spoke up when she saw that Yue Ning didn’t go to bed, but instead, went to the wardrobe.

Yue Ning turned to look at her. "I will only rest until Xiao Yan is back home." She uttered each word with strong conviction.

"Then let Huo Feng go save her. What if something happens to you as well?" Yun Li tried to convince her, and there was a hint of fear in her eyes.

But within her, she knew her efforts were futile. Yue Ning was stubborn, and she would always get her way.

"I won’t be able to rest if I don’t go with them." Yue Ning smiled at her as she picked out a dress.

"Fine, I won’t stop you. But make sure you don’t get hurt again. You haven’t recovered from this." Yun Li could only give in.

Yue Ning only smiled before going to change... with great difficulty that is.

The convoy was ready within minutes. The engines roared to life. The night was dark, and the headlights from the car illuminated the path.

Yue Ning sat in the back of the lead car beside Huo Feng. The atmosphere felt suffocating, and silence reigned between them.

She had a blank expression on her face, but her hands gripped her knees tightly trying to calm her racing her heart.

The System’s mechanical voice echoed in her mind. ’Host, logically, your current injuries make you a liability.’

"I don’t care about being a liability. I only want to save Xiao Yan." Yue Ning countered.

’However, your presence increases the chances... since you are the one with first-hand knowledge.’ The System added after her words.

Yue Ning acknowledged with a mental hum.

Huo Feng’s gaze flickered to her, and their eyes met. He didn’t speak, instead, he let his eyes speak for him.

Yue Ning smiled slightly. She understood the look in his eyes—it was a promise... he won’t let anything happen to either of them.

Behind them, Ah Si gave a report. "Boss, men are in position. The perimeter around the factory is secured, no movement yet."

"Stay sharp." Huo Feng replied coldly. His sharp eyes glistened as his entire body emanated a lethal chill.

The cars slowed down and the factory was just ahead. From afar, it looked lifeless and abandoned. It was just as Yue Ning had described.

But as her eyes strained through the glass, a chill ran down her spine. The shadows along the broken walls weren’t still. They shifted—silent figures lurking... and waiting.

Her fingers dug into her knees. "Mr. Huo..." she whispered hoarsely, "it’s a trap."
