Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted
Chapter 102: Special Task
CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 102: SPECIAL TASK
Victoria is getting nervous with Matthias’ desire to suddenly ask her to go to a party even though it has nothing to do with work. It seems that Victoria wants to refuse the invitation, but will her cooperation with Matthias also be canceled. This is what scared him from the beginning of working with a perfectionist CEO. If you don’t comply with his wishes, then the story ends. Should she follow the perfectionist CEO to a party?
"Okay, I will attend the party with you," Victoria replied with a confident smile.
"I haven’t even mentioned what the party will be like yet. Why did you agree so readily?" Matthias laughed lightly, shaking his head. "Are you afraid I’ll cancel our partnership?"
"You could say that. Because you recruited me with the goal of satisfying yourself, too."
"Even though we have been in a relationship for a month, you still don’t know my personality."
"The point is now I want to go with you, are you satisfied?"
"I would be satisfied if you wanted to leave because you are sincere to me."
"What?"
"Should I explain it to you in detail like I explain my job to you?"
Victoria shook her head quickly. "No."
"Then, before going to the party, you have to go somewhere with me."
"Where are we going?"
"Secret."
"Okay, I won’t be curious. After all, I’m just doing my duty as your business partner."
Before leaving the perfectionist CEO, Victoria took out a box of cupcakes and placed them on the table. "By the way, I stopped by the cupcake shop nearby earlier. I happened to buy a box of extra cupcakes. You can try them to calm your mind. But if you don’t like them, you can share them with your employees."
Just receiving the box of cupcakes made his heart skip a beat. He admitted for the first time there was a woman who was very sensitive to his desires now. Even though all these years many women have given him various things, he really appreciates Victoria’s gift even though in everyone’s eyes cupcakes are just food for ordinary people.
A beaming smile finally melted his cold face. He picked up a piece of the strawberry chocolate cupcake and took a slow bite. The perfect sweetness, coupled with the woman’s sincerity, instantly calmed his heart and mind.
"I really like this cupcake."
Victoria’s eyes widened. "You don’t really like sweets, do you?"
"In fact, I really like sweet food."
"But why is it inversely compared to what you mentioned during the interview?"
"Because I deliberately lied to everyone."
"Is lying fun for you?"
"Yeah, it’s fun to test whether people really know me or not. Especially since I openly mention all the things I like, women rush to give me luxury gifts. Even though I don’t like them."
"You’re such a jerk, Matthias! I never thought you’d set them all up."
"This is the result of you deceiving them!"
"No. Actually, my purpose in telling all these lies was to test them to see if they truly knew me. Whether they truly liked me or were just using me."
"Then, what about me?"
"You’re different from them. Judging by the way you gave me this cupcake, I can feel your sincerity."
Victoria immediately looked away, feeling her heart pounding. "It was just a coincidence that I stopped by, and usually, whenever I’m having a hard time, I always calm myself down by eating a cupcake."
"You are so much like me."
"What?"
"Anyway, I want you to keep your promise. Before you go to the party, you have to follow me somewhere."
Victoria was still curious about where she and Matthias would be visiting. While they’d always gone to construction sites, now Matthias wanted to take her somewhere other than work. Therefore, her thoughts had been preoccupied throughout the week, especially every time she saw Matthias in person. Her curiosity grew, and she wanted to ask him directly.
Finally, after a long wait, the long-awaited day arrived. Matthias personally picked Victoria up and drove her to a famous boutique in the city. Her eyes widened as she gazed at the store’s priceless contents. Although she came from a wealthy family, she wasn’t a spendthrift.
"Matthias, so you mean I have to try on all the beautiful dresses in this boutique?"
"You’re going to an important party with me. You have to shine among all the women there."
"But why do you have to be so overbearing towards me? I’m not your girlfriend."
"But you are my friend."
"I’m your friend?"
Matthias’s brow furrowed. "The moment you signed the agreement with me, we were officially friends."
Victoria nodded as she picked up a pastel pink dress that had caught her eye earlier. "I want to try this on."
Matthias not only went to the boutique, but also took Victoria to get her hair done at the salon. He wanted his new friend to look perfect when he joined him at the party. Even though they had only been friends for a little over a month, he didn’t realize it was the first time he’d been so attentive to a woman.
Upon arriving at a luxury hotel, Matthias led Victoria inside, though they didn’t hold hands. Victoria looked awkward, seeing everyone so classy. Shouldn’t she be attending this party?
"Don’t be nervous, Victoria."
At first, Victoria kept her head down, but now she dared to raise it. "I’m not nervous. I’m just not used to attending parties like this."
"You’ll get used to it. After all, they’re all human. Don’t lower yourself just because they’re richer than you. After all, they’re rich because of the wealth they inherited from their families. They’re just too arrogant. That’s why I hate them all."
"Matthias..." For the first time, Victoria was moved to tears when she heard these pearls of wisdom uttered by this perfectionist CEO.
"A good and perfect woman is not judged by her beauty or possessions, but by her sincerity. Therefore, I want you to prove yourself that you are a woman worthy of shining too."
