Trapped In A Marriage I Never Wanted
Chapter 99: Where Is My Wife?
CHAPTER 99: CHAPTER 99: WHERE IS MY WIFE?
When Matthias opened his eyes, he was immediately shocked to see his wife’s figure had disappeared. He immediately sat up, shaking his head, clutching the blanket tightly. How foolish he had been to fall asleep in such a critical situation. He had vowed to wake up early so he could see his wife one last time before she left. However, now that opportunity had vanished from his life. He hoped his wife would return soon. The thought of her traveling alone terrified him.
"Victoria, I hope you’re doing well on your solo adventure out there."
Matthias didn’t want to stay in bed any longer. He wanted to cook breakfast for his wife, but that didn’t work out. However, as he walked into the dining room, he noticed the table was covered with various dishes and a small note had been placed there.
He took a small piece of paper and read the message from his wife.
"Matthias, when you wake up, you have to finish all my cooking. I’ve worked so hard to make it for you. I hope you really enjoy it. I’ve also prepared food in the fridge for tonight. Don’t forget to heat it up."
Tears streamed down his cheeks. Tasting his wife’s cooking made his heart break even more. He could feel her sincerity in preparing all these dishes. If only he had woken up earlier, he would have hugged her until she was satisfied. But now, he wasn’t allowed to contact her.
"You really are cruel to me. Couldn’t you have waited until I woke up?"
The only bright idea to find his wife was to ask Jennifer. He guessed she was still in contact with Jennifer, as it was impossible for her to be hostile towards her best friend. This way, he wouldn’t have to worry too much about her condition.
After breakfast, Matthias decided to visit Jennifer’s house. Luckily, he knew Jennifer’s address thanks to Sawyer’s earlier notification. He hoped his wife would choose to stay at Jennifer’s house as well, as it was the safest place.
As Matthias entered the residence, he kept shouting his wife’s name. He didn’t care if Jennifer kept laughing at him; he just wanted to make sure his wife was staying here for a while.
"Gosh, what’s wrong with you, Matthias!"
"Did Victoria visit you before?"
Jennifer folded her arms. "What’s really going on with you two? Hasn’t your relationship gotten closer as time goes on?"
"I don’t understand why my wife suddenly acted like this either." Matthias paused for a moment. "By the way, did my wife call you earlier?"
"That’s what’s been confusing me all this time. Why did your wife suddenly forbid me from communicating with her? Are you guys having a fight?"
Matthias shook his head stiffly as he knelt down weakly. "We didn’t really fight."
"So, what happened to you guys now? Did you make her angry again?"
"My wife said she remembered all her past."
Jennifer’s eyes widened. "What? Does that mean she remembers the accident?"
"That’s what makes me even more afraid. If she remembers the accident she had two years ago, her life will be even more in danger. I’m really worried about her."
"So, what should we do now? I was told not to communicate with her and also to report your activities to her."
"Now all we can do is wait for her safe return."
"Are you just going to stay silent? This isn’t who you are, Matthias! Usually, when something happens to Victoria, you act quickly."
After visiting Jennifer, Matthias decided to visit his wife’s studio. He had already asked one of the studio employees, but they didn’t know where the owner was. All they knew was that the owner was taking a break. They didn’t know how long he was on leave, as they were forbidden from communicating with her.
Even Louis looked saddened to see his partner suddenly acting so cold. He couldn’t blame Matthias, as he was also starting to lose consciousness due to not knowing where his wife was. Louis invited Matthias into his room so they could talk more freely.
"Matthias, what exactly happened between you and Victoria? Victoria doesn’t usually act like this."
Matthias stared blankly at his cup of coffee. "Why is everyone asking me this when I don’t even know?"
"As her husband, you shouldn’t have let her travel alone. It’s especially dangerous out there."
"I know. Victoria is a beautiful woman, and there must be a lot of men who have been eyeing her all this time."
"Victoria, she’s a very strong woman on the outside. But actually she’s quite weak on the inside. She’s deliberately being tough in front of us all so that we don’t worry too much about her."
Matthias lowered his head in resignation, touching his forehead. "As her husband, I have failed to protect her."
"Don’t blame yourself. If Victoria suddenly disappeared from all of us because of you, you shouldn’t be angry yet."
"Victoria told me she left me not because she hated me. She just wanted to be alone. She even still cooks breakfast for me and prepares lunch and dinner."
Louis snapped his fingers. "I knew she really cared about you. If she still hated you, I’m sure she wouldn’t be as considerate of you."
"Do you know where Victoria goes to calm herself down?"
"She usually always confides in Jennifer. But if Jennifer isn’t communicating with her, I have no clue where she’s gone now."
Matthias rested his chin on his hand for a moment, contemplating his beloved wife’s current whereabouts. "If you all can’t communicate with her, will she run away to Ansel?"
"There’s no way she’d go back to her ex-fiancé. If she wanted to go back to Ansel, why would she still care about you? I’m sure Ansel shouldn’t be communicating with her either."
Matthias tried to calm his increasingly panicked self. He took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. Once he could think clearly, a brilliant idea suddenly occurred to him.
"I think I know where she went."
