CHAPTER 312: THERE AREN’T JUST THREE BEAUTIFUL GARDENS IN THIS CITY

"S-Seo-Jun," I called, my eyes darting towards the driver’s seat. "What are you doing?"

His secretary and assistant were still in the car, and they could clearly see us, so could he get his act together? Please?

"You smell so great, Jo-Pil." He said.

"Thank you, but I don’t think this is the time for that," I said and he lifted his head, smirking at me.

"I don’t think there’s just one place meant for something like this, though." He said. "I can sniff you whenever and wherever, can’t I? Or am I forbidden from doing that?"

"Well, no, but..." You’ll have to think of my own comfort as well.

Doing it in front of his staff was just so uncomfortable for me.

"If you want me to stop then I will." He said and let go.

Hm, so easy? What was he cooking up?

"But I think you’ll want me to do it again once you see what we’re here for." He cackled and then started walking ahead, my hand in his as he led me forward.

What did he mean by I would want him to do it again once we saw what we were here for?

He was speaking so vaguely that I couldn’t even decipher his words.

"The scenery is so great here at night." He said, but I looked around, left and right, but I couldn’t see the scenery he was talking about.

"But it’s so dark," I said. "And all I can see is the light from the street lamps."

"Well, that’s here." He said. "But once we go around there," he pointed ahead. "You’ll immediately get what I’m talking about."

What’s around there?

As we got closer, I realized there was an entrance, like it was a garden. And this made me remember the garden Jin-Yeok had taken me to in the past.

There were either beautiful gardens so I don’t remember which of them this was. The butterfly garden, rose garden, and water garden.

The scenery was indeed beautiful but that was in the day. Would we still be able to see everything clearly when it was so late?

Seo-Jun looked back at me, watching as my thoughts flew about everywhere and he chuckled.

He was ready to give me the surprise of my life.

The moment we stepped past the entrance, a soft glow spilled into view. As soon as I saw it, my eyes gradually widened and my breath was caught in my throat.

It was as if time had stopped for me, and everything went completely still.

Tiny lights, about a hundred or two hundred, maybe even thousands were strung delicately through the branches of tall trees, weaving around flower beds, and outlining stone paths. They flickered like fireflies, illuminating the night garden as though it were enchanted.

Ah, were they fireflies? I’d believe if they were. Just look at how they flickered.

I couldn’t say anything. Couldn’t explain how beautiful the scenery was or how much of its glow got to my heart.

"You see?" Seo-Jun said, tugging me closer. "There aren’t just three beautiful gardens in this city." He said. "I heard you already went to all three with Jin-Yeok, so I thought why not take you to the last one? The one that shines the prettiest at night. The night garden."

I swallowed hard, like there had been lumpy words stuck in my throat. I was unable to deny it.

Among all four gardens, this was the most beautiful. The others felt like a fairytale, while this... it felt like something from a dream.

The faint perfume of flowers mixed with the cool night air made it almost unreal.

"Now, just look past there." He said, pointing past the trees, and I peered through my vision, trying to see what he was trying to point out.

If it were something extraordinary, then I would immediately catch a glimpse of it.

And then I saw the extraordinary thing.

"This is..." I began, watching them as they fluttered their wings.

Not fireflies but butterflies. Since when do butterflies fly in the night? And... And... Their wings. How was it that their wings were glowing with such a pretty glow in the night?

I got closer but I didn’t get too close, for fear that I would scare them away.

"How is this possible?" I asked and looked back at Seo-Jun.

"It’s just as you see." He said. "A rare species of butterflies that only fly at night. I wonder if they’re a mix of bread or fireflies and butterflies." He laughed a bit. "This scene, how do you find it?"

"It’s like a dream, indeed. Something that could never exist in reality. It’s just too beautiful to believe it’s real." I said and stood straight. "It’s--"

"Romantic?" He completed the words I couldn’t say.

"Yes, very."

I wanted to take a picture.

"I heard people use this place for proposals a lot, haha." He chuckled and softly gazed into my eyes. "I thought you’d like it since I just found out you’re a fan of the night view." He said, taking my hand again, and kissed it. "I’m glad I made the right call."

My heart started racing again, though I tried to steady it.

"You’re making a lot of right calls these days," I said, looking away and he laughed.

"I know, right? I think I’m getting the hang of this thing, haha." He said

Seo-Jun leaned down, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispered,

"So... do you still want me to stop sniffing you?"

I felt heat rising up across my face.

"Seo-Jun..."

Was that his way of saying, ’You should give me a reward. I want to sniff you.’

"Well..." If it was a reward for giving me this treat this night then... I guess he deserves it. "Alright," I answered, my fists clenched and he immediately hugged me, as if he had been waiting for it forever.

He leaned in, his nose brushing against the curve of my neck as he started inhaling deeply like someone high on drugs.

I shuddered, clutching his sleeve, vividly aware that his secretary and assistant weren’t far off. But from this distance maybe they wouldn’t see.

But why... Why was this making me shudder so much? My neck felt so sensitive today.

"See, Jo-Pil? I told you you’d want me to do it again." He said and sniffed in deeply. "Fuck, you smell so good even more now. Is it because you’re in a good mood? You’re giving off such delicious Pheromones, Jo-Pil." He licked my neck, as if he would be able to taste the Pheromones that way.

But was it that good? My heart was indeed excited but I wouldn’t know since I had no control over my Pheromones.

"Jo-Pil," Seo-Jun suddenly called, his face looking a bit more serious than before. "I... I have a confession to make."

He what?!
