CHAPTER 467: CHAPTER 239: ARSENAL

All light was absorbed. The entire area plunged into pure blackness.

The moment darkness descended, all the constructs flying in the sky froze in place, swaying left and right as they tried to locate their targets.

However, this was true darkness; even the orange-red glow emanating from the Energy pathways on these flying machines was absorbed. They were plunged into absolute blackness.

These flying constructs began to drift aimlessly in the space above.

Yet Alka and the others could see clearly. Chadite remained motionless, her hand clenched in a fist, gripping the light tightly and preventing it from dispersing. She had enveloped the entire battle area and the sky, a range that somewhat exceeded her limits.

From time to time, only the sound of shattering could be heard from the sky.

Alka and the others, who could clearly see their surroundings, continued to destroy the machines in the sky. However, they were all trying their best not to make any sound. Besides relying mainly on sight, making any sound would also alert these machines.

Such an environment was like water to a fish for Lucilia. Having reached the Second Stage, she continuously shadow-stepped throughout the darkness, appearing in various places. One could only see the machines in the sky continuously being destroyed and plummeting.

The edge of the darkness also enveloped the Teleportation Gate. Flying constructs still emerging from it would fly out, only to stop in bewilderment in the surrounding area. A dense cluster of them had already formed there.

"Done!" Simon shouted, then stretched out his right hand. His index finger, a peculiar Treasure, began to emit light.

The flying constructs in the sky swayed from side to side, as if struggling. If they could still emit light, one would notice the orange-red glow on their bodies flickering.

"Permissions changed. Mode disengaged. Standby status."

As the mechanical voice sounded, no one except Lucilia could understand it. But they saw all the flying constructs, under Simon’s control, form a line in the sky and fly behind him.

"Phew, all settled. It’s okay now."

Hearing this, Chadite relaxed her hand, and the surrounding darkness immediately vanished.

Matilda stood up and began to check if anyone was injured. Under the assault of so many flying constructs, no one was completely unscathed. Everyone was somewhat battered; besides being covered in dirt, they all had burns in various places. The heat radiating from those Energy ball attacks was incredibly intense. Even if not hit directly, merely brushing past one would inflict burns on the skin.

Matilda finished checking everyone’s injuries and raised her hands. A large torrent of water gushed out, then transformed into countless droplets that fell upon everyone’s burns. As the water droplets seeped in, a refreshing, cool sensation spread. The burns quickly faded, their skin returning to its original appearance, with only some charred flesh flaking off.

Fortunately, they were only superficial wounds; no one had taken a direct hit.

After a short rest, everyone began to tidy themselves up. The wreckage of the constructs they had destroyed was scattered all around.

Simon, meanwhile, controlled the flying constructs whose permissions he had altered, making them fly about in the sky and form various formations.

"Did you see? These constructs are amazing! They’re only the size of a head, yet the power of their attacks is so strong. They can fly, and the Energy inside them..." Simon chattered on, visibly excited.

"Alright, my friend, you’re too excited. Calm down. There’ll be plenty of time for research later," Alka came over and patted his shoulder, helping him calm down. "The main issue now isn’t this. Don’t you want to see inside? There might be more."

Hearing this, Simon nodded repeatedly and took a few deep breaths. "Yes, yes, I was too excited." It was primarily because the technology of these constructs was so perfect that it left him somewhat mesmerized.

Alka looked at the still-open Teleportation Gate.

"Is it safe inside?" he turned and asked.

Having calmed down, Simon nodded. "It’s safe. Inside is just a simple armory; these flying machines are Sentinels for surveillance."

Hearing this, Alka glanced at the group and then said, "Then let’s go in. Not all of us, though. Half of us will stay outside."

Finally, Alka and Simon, along with Jason, Chadite, and Lucilia, walked into the Teleportation Gate. The others remained outside, on guard.

As the group passed through the Teleportation Gate, the golden interior of the Superimposed Space unfolded before them.

It was simply a storeroom, with various metal objects neatly arranged around. Some parts were quite disorganized, looking as if they had been ransacked.

"Is this the place where those flying constructs activated just now?" Alka asked, looking at the area near the entrance.

The ground was covered by a large metal plate fitted with what looked like docking clamps. Several flying constructs were still stationed on it. Some metal parts and casings were also scattered on the plate.

This space seemed much larger than the Temple space they had entered before. After all, one was a research facility, while the other was a storage depot.

"Lucilia, see if you can find any recorded information here."

Lucilia nodded, hopped off his shoulder, and began to investigate the surroundings on her own.
