CHAPTER 482: CHAPTER 244: GOD-CREATED HUMANS
"What incredible information?" Alka asked eagerly.
"Follow me," Lucilia said, leading them to a somewhat damaged mural.
Though slightly damaged, the patterns on it were still clear enough to see that it primarily depicted a male figure. From the mural’s depiction, it seemed to be a normal human. The long mural portrayed stories centered around this male protagonist.
The first mural portrayed him kneeling on the ground, looking up towards the sky in a posture of prayer, while a pillar of light descended from the heavens. This scene was full of ancient mythological elements. There were inscriptions below, but they couldn’t understand them.
Lucilia pointed to the inscriptions beneath the first mural and interpreted for the group: "Vastva, the founder of the city-state, prayed for the blessing of the Divine."
With the inscriptions paired with the mural, the intended meaning was easily understood.
So the city-state was named after its founder.
"But this Vastva, is he supposed to be human?" Julia pointed to the humanoid figure on the mural and remarked.
The side view of the mural distinctly showed the male figure’s ears. They had just learned from the statues that the Vastva people had two pairs of sharp ears.
Lucilia smiled. "So don’t be shocked later," she said. "It’s a huge discovery. You’ll see as you look further."
Hearing Lucilia deliberately piquing their curiosity, the group continued to look on.
The subsequent mural displayed Vastva glowing, presumably blessed by the Divine. He held a sword in one hand and was casting a spear with the other, facing a fantastically abstract monster. The monster had a huge single eye, no mouth or neck, and mist-like tentacles stretched out from around it. Notably, its two sharp ears closely resembled those of the Vastva people.
Seeing this, Alka squinted slightly, a few theories forming in his mind. The monster’s body was pierced with several spears, with red paint, resembling blood, sprayed out from the wounds.
Lucilia continued interpreting the inscriptions beneath the mural: "Vastva, with the Divine’s blessing, slew the monster that destroyed his homeland and people, thus completing his revenge."
The third mural showed the monster already cleaved in half, a spherical glowing object floating out from its body. Vastva was kneeling with arms outstretched, while light descended from the sky. The scene likely depicted that the monster had something within it, though it was unclear whether this object was offered to the Divine or purified by them.
"Vastva cleaved open the enemy’s body and extracted its heart. The Divine, seeing his valor, infused the heart with a blessing and bestowed it upon Vastva."
With Lucilia’s interpretation, the meaning the imagery intended to convey became clear.
The scene in the fourth mural was completely different. Vastva’s figure was significantly larger compared to the previous depictions, clearly an intentional artistic choice. He sat on a throne, wearing a Crown, and had grown four sharp ears. He had completely transformed into the likeness of the Vastva people. In his hands, he held the newly blessed heart. Beside the throne was a distinct female figure wearing a smaller crown; it was unclear if she represented his daughter or his wife. Below the throne were figures who resembled him, apparently representing his subjects who had pledged allegiance.
"The heart made the king smarter and his strength greater, and it granted him powerful Divine Power. His subjects underwent the same transformation as well."
The heart actually changed people’s appearance?
Did this mean the Vastva people were actually changed by the heart’s power?
Alka pondered this as he looked at the mural and listened to Lucilia’s interpretation.
He then turned his gaze to the fifth mural. Vastva held the heart aloft. Before him was an open portal, and his transformed people, carrying luggage and tools, were entering it. The mural’s edges showed roaring flames.
This mural was quite easy to understand. Was he using the heart to lead his people away?
"Vastva used the heart to open a portal through space, finding a new home for his people."
The sixth mural was the last visible one. It seemed there should have been more, but they were destroyed by collapsed rubble and stones, rendering them unclear. Even this sixth mural was the most severely damaged of them all. Only half could be seen. The image showed half a city, softly glowing. If the mural were complete, it would likely depict the entire city. Judging by the prominent tower depicted on its side, it was probably the city of Vastva, where they currently stood.
"The inscription below this last mural is also quite unclear, and only parts of it are visible," Lucilia continued. "However, based on speculation and interpretation, it probably says they established a new city in a secure space. Furthermore, by integrating information I’ve gathered from other murals, tools, and ancient stone steles, the place where they finally established their city was indeed located in an Alternate Space."
After finishing her account, Lucilia fell silent.
Alka gazed at the mural, listening to Lucilia’s interpretation and piecing all the information together in his mind.
