CHAPTER 504: CHAPTER 251: THE CURRENT STAGE OF BATTLE_2
"I’ve got it right on target. I shoot pretty well," Jason said with a smile, looking at his precisely hit target. Although a cannon and a gun are different, it didn’t affect his aim.
Simon waved his hands, and the Treasure on his right index finger glowed faintly.
"Now it’s my turn."
The panels on the sides of the Sound of Dawn opened a gap, and round constructs flew out one after another. Like a swarm of bees, they flew to the Pirate Ship ahead, emitting red rays. The first to be burned were the black sails on the mast and some Spell Arrays on the ship used for speed control. Even though the sail material was tough and fire-resistant, it was pierced through like paper under the red rays. The black sails fell, and the ship’s speed decreased as some Spell Arrays were destroyed. The ship’s speed kept dropping but didn’t come to a complete stop.
A few winged Puppet Girls flapped their wings, flying towards the enemy ship like streams of light. Apart from one pirate wailing on the deck with pierced limbs, all other pirates were dead. These Puppet Girls began to take over the ship, destroying some Spells and taking control of the Pirate Ship.
It wasn’t long before Simon and Jason boarded the Pirate Ship.
"A Spell Ship... So, why would these pirates dare leave so few people on board?"
"If you knew, wouldn’t that make you a pirate?"
The two exchanged remarks as they strolled around the entire ship.
At this, Jason looked towards the Island where a white bird was returning to its nest.
"It’s going to be night."
Upon hearing this, Simon lifted his head, looked, and said with a smile, "Nighttime? Isn’t that our home field?"
"So I’m mourning our enemies. May the Holy Mother bless them with a quick death."
Jason folded his arms, looking as if he were seriously praying.
「At this moment, on the Island.」
All the white birds wanting to fly towards the battlefield were tied down by a white string and dragged down. All the pirates on the battlefield were unaware that the white birds had returned to their nests. They would fight Alka and the others at night, still relishing the joy of battle and treasure.
It seemed there was still time left. However, when the sky was quickly obscured by a curtain-like darkness, they suddenly realized.
"How is it night already?"
"Night? What’s to fear about night? I’m a pirate!"
"But didn’t those Island residents say the nights here are dangerous?"
"More dangerous than us?"
"HAHAHAHA, don’t mind them. Those residents are just brainless natives."
The arrival of night didn’t seem to bother the pirates much; they were even a bit disdainful. Even though some of their companions lay at their feet, this was clearly not the Island’s doing, but their enemies’. Anyone who hadn’t experienced a night on the Island would say this—until they spent one outside.
...
"Oh, nighttime already?" Alka suddenly stopped running and said with a smile.
He suddenly didn’t feel like running anymore.
The Pirate Captain who had been pursuing him stopped in his tracks. He looked at the already darkened sky, then at Alka, who stood his ground, covered in blood but smiling.
"Is this what you were waiting for? For night to come? Do you prefer to die in the dark?"
The Pirate Captain suddenly laughed as he asked.
Because Alka was now covered in injuries, his right arm even drooping uselessly. His shoulder bore a giant gash, and his right arm was clearly unusable. Covered in wounds, almost crippled, and with power only at Nine Spirals... Even with nightfall, so what? He had no idea how he could lose. He knew a few things about the Island’s nights but didn’t think they would pose any threat to him.
"Now, obediently take me to your ship. I’m a pirate; I’m only interested in treasure. Give me enough treasure, and I promise you won’t be hurt. I swear."
He walked over smiling, his steps graceful and slow, as if victory was already in his grasp. The Sailor’s Long Saber swayed in his hand.
"But that’s something my teammates and I worked hard to dig up! How could I just give it to you?" Alka turned his head, his face smeared with blood, and spoke with fury.
"HAHAHAHA..."
The Pirate Captain burst into laughter as if he’d heard the funniest joke, even slapping his thigh. He laughed so hard he could barely breathe.
"So, where did you all come from, acting so naive? This is the Endless Sea! Here, we only believe in one thing... the weak are meat for the strong to eat! The strong naturally possess everything!" He spoke arrogantly, even raising his hands to the sky as if he himself were one of the strong.
However, at this moment, Alka put on a pair of glasses. He looked at the Pirate Captain before him and said in a calm, doubtful voice, "But you’re not strong either, are you? You’re only at Eleven Spirals, barely into the Third Stage. You can’t even beat the mayor of this small town. As a pirate, being so well-behaved in town—isn’t that embarrassing?"
The Pirate Captain, who had been arrogantly embracing the sky, froze. He lowered his head, his eyes narrowing as he shot Alka a dangerous glare.
"Those are nice glasses. It seems you don’t understand the vast difference between Stages."
He seemed to have lost his patience.
