"Child? You want a child?"

A ghostly voice echoed as shadows surged from the darkness, pairs of red eyes fixated on them with a greed of desire.

The voice was vicious, and the shadows flung themselves forward.

Ms Liu was worried about her and moved closer to wake her, but Yu Nianzhao held her back.

"Don’t go over, she’s not your daughter anymore."

Yu Nianzhao formed a seal with her hand, creating a protective barrier above. Although she was quick, some Dragon Shadow Guards were still affected and got possessed by the shadows.

The other shadows crashed into the barrier and fled in dismay.

The Dragon Shadow Guards possessed by shadows brandished long swords, slashing towards them.

"Princess, have they been possessed?"

Mu Hongxuan shielded Yu Nianzhao and Xie Jiuxiao, kicking one of the attackers away.

Mu Hongxuan obeyed, grabbing one of the Dragon Shadow Guards, twisting his arms behind him, and bringing him to Yu Nianzhao.

Yu Nianzhao placed an Evil Exorcism Talisman on his back. The Dragon Shadow Guard let out a piercing scream, and the shadow fled in terror.

"Jiu!"

Yu Nianzhao called softly, and a snake’s head emerged, devouring the shadow in one gulp.

Mu Hongxuan followed suit, capturing the remaining possessed individuals. In no time, the Dragon Shadow Guards returned to normal.

"Tong’er!"

Ms Liu’s alarmed shout caught Yu Nianzhao’s attention.

She saw Liu Tong holding a child from somewhere unknown, squeezing the infant’s neck, sporting a cold smile.

"You all have some skills, barging in here and dealing with my companions?"

Liu Tong’s sinister gaze fixed on Yu Nianzhao, "If you want this child to live, kill this woman."

"What? Tong’er, are you crazy?" Ms Liu cried in anguish, "That child is your own son."

"Indeed, he is also our grandson,"

Mr Shen and Ms Shen were excited to see the child, never imagining the child they longed for was right under their noses.

"Tong’er has already been bewitched, she doesn’t know what she’s doing," Mr. Liu discerned immediately, his anxiety growing.

"Hurry up and kill her, or do you not care if this child lives?"

Seeing their inaction, Liu Tong’s eyes bulged, and she tightened her grip around the child’s neck, making the infant cry out, paining the Shen and Liu families.

"Don’t do it!"

Mr Shen and Ms Shen looked at Yu Nianzhao, torn, pleading, "Miss Yu, what should we do? Our grandson is so young, it would be heartbreaking if he’s strangled by his own mother."

"So what?"

Yu Nianzhao tilted her head at them, "You’re asking for my life in exchange? Are you crazy? I have no ties to you, who are you trying to guilt-trip with morality?"

Mr Shen and Ms Shen, "..."

They were speechless for a moment, having no right to demand such a sacrifice.

Xie Jiuxiao spoke coldly, "Whoever dares to scheme against the princess will have their entire family buried."

Mr Shen and Ms Shen shrank back silently, feeling a foreboding sensation as if they’d lose their heads in the next second.

"Hurry, kill her! Kill, kill, kill!"

The evil spirit possessing Liu Tong lost patience, roaring angrily, its shrill voice echoing in the cave.

"Tsk, don’t you know your screeches are really unpleasant?"

Yu Nianzhao dangerously narrowed her eyes, forming seals with her hands. She tapped a talisman to the ground, her gaze fierce, murmuring, "Hear my command, summon and exorcise evil!"

Liu Tong asked angrily, "What are you doing?"

Yu Nianzhao remained silent, sneering.

The smile seemed to seep into the evil spirit’s soul, causing it to fear.

Suddenly, the ground shook.

Before the evil spirit could react, a massive beast’s shadow emerged, its jaws wide open, devouring Liu Tong whole.

The sudden appearance of the giant creature shocked everyone in the cave.

"Tong’er!"

Ms Liu screamed belatedly, collapsing weakly into Mr Liu’s arms.

The shadow with green eyes looked down upon them, a powerful aura enveloped each person, as if a mountain pressed on their shoulders, the oppressive feeling made them feel like they’d be consumed by darkness.

"Restrain yourself!"

Yu Nianzhao furrowed her brows, understanding the summoned being was too much for most to bear, but it was too self-satisfied, not hiding its power at all.

Feeling Yu Nianzhao’s anger, the shadow glared at her.

The oppressive force hit, and Yu Nianzhao’s mortal body trembled involuntarily.

"Not convinced?"

Yu Nianzhao’s lips curled into a cold smile.

Feeling the destructive aura rising within its master, Jiu Ying’s shadow floated in the air, the gust from its wind-blown eyes.

[I am here, and you dare to be arrogant in the presence of a fierce beast like me!]

The nine snake heads opened their jaws, hissing fiercely.

The shadow cowered under the stare of nine pairs of vertical pupils, realizing the summoner was not to be underestimated, and actually had Jiu Ying behind them?

It quickly withdrew its oppressive force, shrinking into a ball.

Liu Tong returned to the light of day, the evil spirit forced out of her, and as it was about to sigh in relief, the shadow swallowed it up, leaving only a final wailing scream before vanishing without a trace.
