Twin Reincarnation: Epics Of The Worldline
Chapter 384 Two generals
CHAPTER 384: 384 TWO GENERALS
[OP: ]
After inferring the plans of the opposing side, the emperor could wait and arrived at the border of their front line, and stood right before the undead army of the opponents on top of his great drake— a fierce creature that could trample over even the undeads before them.
His actions had confused his entire force when he moved to the very front out of the blue, and since there was still some time left before the start of the battle, there was no need for him to do that.
Yet, he stood before the very force that had frozen the soldiers and even the knights in their place.
Glaring at the very centre of their force, at the one who looked over the other side from the top of the ghost knight’s head.
He was the general and did not need words to communicate with a capable enemy general like theirs.
He just looked at the two blue eyes hidden behind the unique white mask, and it did not take long for the other side to notice what the emperor wanted to convey through that gaze.
The dark clothed general of the other side commanded the giant ghost through their connection, and the ghost bowed down, placing his hand at the front.
It came right before the emperor, and when this happened instead of being surprised by it like someone normally should, he just glared at the general who glared back at him.
"What might you be doing here, Lord emperor."
Lucy did not like how the emperor came there personally instead of sending the sword saint or someone else.
He also did not like how the emperor was taking their show of display.
He knew that the emperor had alredy caught onto what was going on from their side and what they might be upto, and there was a possibility that he knew what we might be aiming for as well.
He was a smart individual before he was strong so there was no way he could not have known what was going on and what they were actually up to.
"You are smart, I will give you that much." The tone the emperor used was exactly that was praise instead of any ridicule or insult.
He wasn’t criticising them for their methods.
This was a war, a battle with many lives on the line, so demoralising the army to take advantage of their newly created weakness was in no way a bad thing.
If he was in their position and had the power to do so, he would have done this as well. However... he wasn’t in their shoes.
He was the one that had to face this.
And, he was not going to just take it even though he knew what the consequences of doing nothing might have been.
"But don’t even think for a second that I’ll just play around in your hands, you damn children."
He glared at the masked person before him with a suppressed rage hidden in his deep red eyes.
His red hair flowing with the calm winds of the dawn resembled the undying flames of the heavenly castle.
The anger that he was holding back was evident to the one standing before him.
He knew why he was angry like that, but that did not change anything.
"Whatever you want, whatever you are up to, and whatever your reason for not having many deaths might be, know that it is of no use.
They are here to fight and they will fight despite your or anyone else’s wish.
They will either die here, get crippled fighting, or survive until the end. Their fate was decided the moment they started following me, and you have no right to affect that fate of theirs."
It seemed like the emperor did not exactly know why they might be trying to demoralise his people but knew for certain that whatever the reason might be, it wasn’t because they wanted to save them from dying or anything like that.
He knew they weren’t the type to do anything that wouldn’t really benefit them, and here, saving these soldiers and small knights who don’t even hold any weight to their destiny wasn’t going to benefit them in any way.
"Whatever you are after..."
He knew that there was a reason behind this, that there was a reason they didn’t want to kill more than necessary people.
The display of strength was to show the soldiers what would happen if they were to fight against these creatures and those weapons, that was it.
Their attempt to demoralise them was not going to succeed since he himself had intervened, so now they weren’t going to achieve what they were aiming for.
"Do it on the dead bodies of those soldiers."
Lucy looked back at the red eyed glaring at him.
"Lord Emperor."
He had faced those eyes before in the game. And back then, they used to be even more fierce than what he was experiencing right now.
He knew just what kind of strength he possessed. He knew how difficult facing an opponent like this would be.
He had done it in the past and he was ready to do it once again as well... however, doing it recklessly was only inviting his own demise.
"Looks like you are unaware of the situation you are in right now."
This land once belonged to the demons and if more than necessary people died, there was a chance that the residual dark energy exiting deep within this land would corrupt the dead and get strong enough to corrupt the living as well.
If that happens, things might very well get worse as those of the Pure evil faction watching them would get the chance to intervene in this whole battle indirectly and then he would not have what he was aiming for.
"Indeed we do not want more than necessary bloodshed. However, it has nothing to do with the ’plan’ that we have."
The emperor was not unaware of the epics and Worldline broadcasts.
There was a clear chance that he had spent a fortune to get as much information about us as possible from his dimensional merchant.
He must already know about our unique titles and there was a chance that he also knew about the skills, powers, and forces that we possessed.
He had spent a great fortune to buy reinforcements that had not even arrived on this battlefield but, when it does arrive here, it will be difficult for even their army to fend them off.
El will have to work a lot, and if the emperor was still adamant on using his people till then, he will have no choice but to take things on a different level.
"These weak soldiers will only get in the way so we don’t want to waste our own energy dealing with the small things.
It’s better to conserve as much energy as we can for the real disasters that we will have to fight in a moment... besides, we don’t have any grudges against these innocent soldiers that have only ever devoted themselves to a piece of cancer like you.
Their deaths won’t mean anything to us but if they do live, we will have some more hands to help us in the rebuilding of the world that you will not be part of."
He glared at him, and this time, he did not hold back any hostility that he had for him.
He openly showed him why he was so upset and why he would even waste their energy over some show of strength that might not even mean anything.
They had the chance to just clean the entire battlefield with El’s high teleportation magic. He had no need to expand more energy that he needed.
But he knew the possible consequences of all the things that he was doing at the moment.
He knew how they could win this match, and he knew how to perfectly get what he wanted.
And he was going to achieve that, even if this bastard emperor had realised a few things and wasn’t going to listen to their advice, he was going to do what he wanted and fulfil all the conditions for the epic.
He was already on the battleground, the sun was rising, a few minutes from now and the battle horns would echo throughout these plains.
And when that happens, their own army will leave no soldier, knight, human, or non-human of the enemy force alive.
"Those small things have no place in our plan, so we just wanted to skip the small things and go on to the main event.
I know you can see them as well... they are all here to watch you and me, not these small things.
As a streamer, it would be wrong of me to waste their and my time by showing them things that they aren’t even going to like.
I’m famous, you know? The kind of content I make is pretty premium.
By trampling over those ants, I’m only going to lose the kind of quality I maintain."
He glared back at him for one last time, before closing his eyes for a moment and shaking his head.
"Well, we can always just start a one-on-one duel if you’d like. That’s the best way to not waste anyone’s time."
The spectators watching them from all over the Worldline, the spectators of this world, and the listeners that will soon join them at the start of the epic weren’t going to be interested in how many foot soldiers died or how many skeleton knights the knights of the empire killed.
The public didn’t even know most of the names of those common knights so, if this was a battle between the closest aids of the emperor and them, was there any need to even drag it out with useless small fights and battle protocols?
"Can’t we just have a plain and simple battle?"
That was his direct proposal to the enemy general. To not the emperor who was in charge of his people, but a general who guided his soldiers on the battlefield.
"I was not expecting that..."
The emperor was looking down, however, the masked person before him could tell there was a smirk on his face.
And, the presence of this smirk... he knew very well was not particularly a good sign.
