Chapter 10: Have Her Sign the Postnuptial Agreement
CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10: HAVE HER SIGN THE POSTNUPTIAL AGREEMENT
While Mia Lane was taking a shower, her mind became increasingly clear, and she suspected that Justin Kingston was waiting for her to walk into his trap!
Because when he saw her earlier, he wasn’t surprised at all.
Ten minutes later, as she just stepped out of the bathroom, she found Sister Zhou waiting for her outside. Was this to prevent her from running around looking for the child?
"Miss Lane, have a bowl of ginger soup." Sister Zhou handed over the fine porcelain bowl with both hands.
She reached out cautiously to take it, "Thank you." After drinking, she handed the empty bowl back to Sister Zhou.
"Mr. Kingston is waiting for you in the study on the second floor, just turn right upstairs."
Mia Lane had a bad premonition, "Alright."
As she went upstairs, her heart was filled with uncertainty. Would Justin Kingston let the child go? From his demeanor, it seemed he had no intention of doing so.
No matter, she had to fight for it.
Turning right upstairs, she arrived in front of the study and immediately saw the man standing with his back to her by the floor-to-ceiling window.
His upright posture was so noble that it left others in awe.
Upon hearing footsteps enter the room, Justin Kingston turned, his gaze locking onto the woman’s exquisite face. "I did a paternity test," he said in a low, direct-to-the-point voice.
"I don’t deny the child is yours," Mia Lane responded with dignity, standing still in front of him, bravely meeting his gaze, "But so what?"
"Sign this," Justin Kingston handed over an agreement, "This is the only way you can see the child."
Mia Lane felt a tightness in her chest, and upon seeing the words on it, she nearly spat out a mouthful of blood!
A post-marital agreement!!
"I’ve already taken out the marriage certificate, and someone will deliver it tomorrow morning," Justin Kingston’s thin lips parted, "This is the post-marital agreement. You can sign it if you accept it, or raise any unacceptable clauses."
The surprise reflected in his deep pupils was of her own making.
Mia Lane chuckled, barely able to suppress the absurdity inside, "I’m here to take the child away! Not to marry you!"
"I’m not negotiating with you, I’m announcing," Justin Kingston’s cold voice carried inherent authority, "The possibility of you taking the child away is zero. The court is bound to rule in my favor; if you don’t believe me, you’re welcome to try."
As anticipated, the woman’s expression began to change...
Mia Lane tried to keep calm. He was Justin Kingston. In Riventhal, he could do anything he wanted; was there anything he couldn’t handle?
Mia Lane panicked; she suddenly felt very passive.
"You can think carefully," the man’s gaze darkened intensely, "But I remind you, anything Justin Kingston desires, he never fails to obtain."
"..." Hearing this, she immediately felt deflated like a balloon losing air.
Time seemed to freeze for a few seconds.
She reached out for the agreement, raising her eyes to him, "Why are you binding your marriage?"
"The issue of the child can’t be kept secret," Justin Kingston frankly admitted, "I don’t want to be gossiped about and viewed as a man of chaotic private life in the eyes of the world." Due to his father’s legacy, he cared about this greatly.
"But a marriage without love can’t be constrained by an agreement," Mia Lane wished to persuade him to give up.
The man’s handsome face instantly frostbitten, "You hid our child for seven years. Such a major deceit – how do you expect me to reconcile that?"
She feared his aura somewhat; to see the child, she had no choice but to concede and refrain from angering him.
She examined the post-marital agreement under his gaze—
1. Must come home before 7 PM.
2. Must play the role of a loving couple in front of the child.
3. Not allowed close contact with the opposite sex. If the media captures compromising images, it would damage the Kingston family’s reputation, leading to divorce, and she would never see the child again.
4. Must publicly declare a hidden marriage of seven years.
...
Upon reading it all, Mia Lane’s brow furrowed slightly, "All the clauses are to restrain me? What about you? Can you manage that?"
"I can."
Meeting gaze for a moment, the air seemed suspended briefly.
Boom—
A clap of thunder resounded through the skies; lightning flashed outside the window!
The torrential rain continued unabated.
Even unwilling in her heart, Mia Lane succumbed to the weight of the child.
Justin Kingston handed her a pen, knowing she would sign.
Mia Lane, feeling a bit mechanical, took the pen and signed her name, the process leaving her somewhat dazed.
"Daddy! Mommy!"
At the sound, Mia Lane turned and saw Gigi holding Dolly’s hand as they entered the study. With excitement, she knelt down and embraced the children.
Gigi’s eyes brightened, "Daddy said you are married, is it true?"
"Mommy." Dolly played with her hair, asking in a sweet voice, "We’ll never be apart again, right?"
