Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 36: Justin Kingston Came Looking
CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: JUSTIN KINGSTON CAME LOOKING
The coffee wasn’t finished, and Justin Kingston placed the cup on the side table and stepped out of the office.
He met Finn Morgan in front of the elevator, "I’m off work." He informed him, "Handle anything that comes up."
Finn looked at him as he walked into the elevator, the doors closed, and the numbers on the elevator began to decrease.
What’s with the CEO today? He’s been acting strange since returning from the kindergarten.
On the way home, Justin sat in the back seat of the car, his thoughts completely blank as he gazed at the scenery outside the window, lost in his own world.
It wasn’t until the Lamborghini stopped in the yard at Emerald Cove that Justin snapped back to reality.
After getting out of the car and walking into the living room, he didn’t see Mia Lane, and his expression remained calm.
Gigi and Dolly had already returned home from school and were in the living room pulling Mrs. Zhou to tell stories.
"Daddy!!"
The kids were delighted to see him back, "Are you not working late today?" Their little faces beamed with smiles.
"No overtime today." Justin glanced around, his gaze landing on Butler Shelby, "Where’s Mia?"
"Madam went to Sunshine Village."
"..." The man’s heart immediately felt a hint of discontent.
So, no homemade dinner from her tonight... He missed the taste of her cooking, which was why he came home early.
Justin went upstairs, unable to focus on work in the study.
His stomach began to protest, longingly craving the taste of home-cooked meals.
...
Sunshine Village, where the sunflowers bloomed, was especially pleasant under the sunset’s glow.
In the quiet bamboo house, Mia Lane sat on a small stool, patiently and carefully stitching up Uncle Lee’s wound, as he lay in the chair with a basin full of blood-soaked cotton under the stool.
Jonah Woods was passing her tools on the side, the master and apprentice working together seamlessly.
"Does it hurt?" Mia asked softly while stitching, "Uncle Lee, just bear with it a little longer."
Uncle Lee shook his head, managing to show a smile, "It doesn’t hurt at all after you treated me. Before you came, I felt like I was going to die from the pain. Thank you, Village Head."
"Why be so polite with me?" Mia was careful, "We should hold a meeting in the village to tell the kids not to throw things like glass bottles into the paddy field. It’s pierced so deep, almost hitting the tendons."
But Uncle Lee worriedly asked, "You’re marrying into a wealthy family, right?"
Mia looked up at him, "Why are you concerned about me?" and continued stitching, "Don’t believe everything the news says; things aren’t like that."
Uncle Lee’s heart tightened, "That man didn’t force you, did he?"
"Not really."
"Is he good to Gigi and Dolly? Are you getting used to living there? Does he have any violent tendencies?" Uncle Lee asked repeatedly, "They say he’s a tyrant in the business world, and not normal if he’s not interested in women."
Jonah gently wiped Mia’s forehead with a towel.
"He’s not like the rumors. He’s quite normal." Mia lightly wrapped the stitched wound with gauze, "All done. Don’t touch cold water for two weeks; focus on healing well and don’t worry about work."
As the words left her mouth, Mia suddenly looked up unintentionally and was shocked to see Justin standing in the doorway!
It felt so unreal!
From his dark, gloomy eyes, she could clearly see displeasure.
When Uncle Lee saw Justin, his eyes were filled with disbelief. Speaking of the devil, and the devil appears! How could such a distinguished man show up in the village?
Is this a hallucination?
Uncle Lee was dumbfounded.
Jonah was also dazed, unable to believe his eyes as he looked at him.
Justin stood at the doorway, his features deep-set and his presence emanating an unapproachable coldness; no one knew when he had arrived.
Mia regained her composure and told Jonah, "You carry Uncle Lee back."
"Okay." Jonah gave Justin a few glances, not quite fond of him; he took away Gigi and Dolly and also stole his mentor.
As Jonah carried Uncle Lee out, Mia voiced a few more concerns.
Justin stepped inside, making way.
Once Jonah carried Uncle Lee far enough, only the two of them remained in the room.
"You... Didn’t you promise to give me my freedom?" Mia looked at him, "Why did you come over?"
The man didn’t answer, and though he was as calm as still water, Mia felt surrounded by turbulent waves.
"Grumble, grumble..."
She focused her gaze on his stomach, then looked at his sullen face, and took a step closer, bending slightly to listen with her ear against his abdomen.
"Grumble..."
Justin tried to control it, but couldn’t!
"Are you hungry?" Mia looked up, somewhat surprised, "Could it be that you want to eat my cooking?"
