Chapter 50: Witnessing a Heartbreaking Scene
CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 50: WITNESSING A HEARTBREAKING SCENE
Mia Lane was stunned, looking at him in disbelief, "Why didn’t you say you’re afraid of heights? We didn’t have to go on this ride!"
Justin Kingston glanced at her but said nothing.
"You’re really all about saving face at the cost of suffering!" she couldn’t help but complain.
Justin wanted to hit her, but his stomach churned again, and he had to retch into the trash can.
The driver looked on with a pained expression.
Unable to watch any longer, Mia reached out and patted his back soothingly, "Alright, it’s partly my fault for not asking your preference, but you’re an adult, you should learn to say no."
"Shut up." Justin clutched his chest, coughing a couple of times.
"..."
Not far away, Monica Usher unwillingly took in the scene; she had come looking for design inspiration but instead saw Justin and Mia...
She stood still, not particularly shocked, but it felt like the blood in her body had frozen.
As the breeze blew by, her eyes felt especially sore.
Watching Mia pat his back, watching her link arms with him and support him as if no one else was around, Monica stood rigid as if something was silently shattering...
All the beliefs in her heart collapsed in an instant.
Tears filled her eyes.
Why couldn’t her relentless efforts catch up with the pace of their relationship...
How high and mighty was Justin? Yet he accompanied her on a roller coaster, he, who was afraid of heights and ended up vomiting like this; Monica felt really heartbroken.
If the media caught this, the image of Justin as the domineering CEO would be ruined.
"Are you feeling better?" Mia looked at him, concerned by his discomfort, "Maybe we should head back?"
Justin turned his eyes, his expression cold and indifferent.
"..." She fell silent again.
With his eyes averted, he rinsed his mouth again, then handed the bottle back to the driver, threw away the wiped napkin, and strode forward.
"..." Mia looked at him, quickly catching up.
The driver trailed behind them like a third wheel.
Monica watched them leave with a calm expression, but her feet felt as heavy as lead.
Her intuition told her, Justin had fallen for this village girl.
Someone not interested in women would never treat a woman so well.
Justin circled the entire amusement park, and Mia followed closely behind, occasionally stealing glances at him, not sure what he was up to.
Not far ahead, an old man selling candied hawthorns approached, and under the sunlight, the treats seemed to glow brilliantly.
That was the taste of childhood, beautifully wrapped; Mia couldn’t help but glance a few more times.
And Justin noticed this detail and asked, "Do you want some?"
"Huh?" She was a bit caught off guard.
"Candied hawthorn."
"Don’t ask if I want it, just buy it; if you ask, then I don’t want it!" She had her theories.
He was speechless, "..."
By now, the old man had come over.
Justin reached out and took a skewer of candied hawthorns, and the driver following them quickly scanned to pay.
Monica, who had been trailing them the entire time, saw Justin handing the candied hawthorns to Mia and felt an awakening sense of clarity.
The woman, like a blissful little girl, carefully unwrapped the candy.
She offered the first one to his lips, but he leaned back, "I don’t eat that."
"Fine, more for me!" Mia stuffed the candied hawthorn into her mouth, delighting in its sweet-sour taste.
Suddenly, Justin remembered what Gigi had said to him last night—
"Daddy, I’ll upgrade your defense system tenfold, but you have to promise me one thing," Gigi told him, "Go to the amusement park with Mommy tomorrow and come back with ten pictures together!"
So, Monica saw Justin take out his phone, wrapping an arm around Mia’s shoulders while raising the other hand with the phone, snap, capturing the moment before she could react.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Mia protested, reaching for the phone, "Let me see! How did it turn out?"
"I’ll show you once I have ten," Justin replied calmly, pocketing his phone.
Mia couldn’t grab it, so she jumped up and said, "Why are you suddenly taking selfies? Don’t tell me you like me?"
"You’re thinking too much." His tone was indifferent, but Monica felt it was full of indulgence.
