CHAPTER 51: CHAPTER 51: MEDDLING IN OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS
"You’d better not like me, because I certainly won’t like you!" Mia retorted stubbornly.
Justin raised his phone again, "Don’t worry, I won’t like you either!"
"Good," she said, "we’re finally agreed on something."
"But this is a task the kids gave me." The phone clicked, capturing another photo, "Taking ten photos together is supposed to fulfill their wish."
Mia suddenly became cautious, halted her steps, and cast a doubtful glance, "So the reason you brought me out today was to fulfill their wish?"
"What else do you think?" Justin looked innocently confused.
"..." The woman felt embarrassed, suddenly feeling a deep sense of grievance.
They shared a lingering gaze.
The driver felt somewhat anxious, clearly it’s not just about the kids, so why won’t he admit it?
If Mr. Kingston didn’t like the lady, why would he ride a roller coaster for her? Is there anything in this world he couldn’t refuse?
Silence crept between them like an invisible thread...
Mia’s slender eyebrows furrowed together immediately, her heart sour, making her resent her own delusions; she even felt touched when they came out!
Nearby, in an industrial-style bar.
The main shades of black, white, and gray somehow carried a hint of sophistication; who said a bar must have Disco and wild dancing?
This place was classic and romantic.
Monica Usher walked in, ordered a cocktail, and chose a quiet corner to sit in; the gramophone played sorrowful classical music.
"Fine wine and coffee, I just need a drink, reminiscing the past, then a second drink."
"Knowing well love flows like water, so why bother who to love?"
Teresa Teng’s song echoed in her ears, the lyrics were so fitting, leaving her heart achingly bitter.
She couldn’t accept Justin being with Mia, she couldn’t lose him, she couldn’t help but love him... Since Monica Usher’s rebirth, every second of her life was lived for Justin.
Half a glass down, the burning sensation brought a measure of pain to her gaze.
Until a sharp sound shattered the silence!
The sound of a glass being slammed down drew all patrons’ attention! Making everyone’s chest tighten a little.
"He’s just a beverage salesman, why are you getting physical?!" A young man in his early twenties pointed arrogantly at a fatheaded middle-aged man on the couch, "He made it so clear, yet you persist?!"
The middle-aged man’s face twitched with anger!
He threw aside the frightened waitress in his arms, got up, and swung his fist, "Tired of living! How dare meddle in my business!"
The young man dodged skillfully, his moves indicated some training!
Thus, the two men started fighting over a woman!
The sound of chairs and tables being overturned ensued! Leaping and dodging, the scene became momentarily chaotic!
Bar security quickly rushed over to intervene, and someone even called the police immediately!
Upon realizing the young man’s identity, Monica’s heart tightened, she quickly got up and went over, "Anton Ford! Anton! Stop fighting!"
The boy turned his gaze at the call, and in that distracted moment, the middle-aged man landed a punch on his nose!
"Anton!!" Monica was terrified.
Anton Miller staggered back several steps from the hit! Blood started pouring from his nose! He covered it with his hand.
"Anton!!" Monica rushed over to support him, "Are you alright?"
By this time, several security guards pulled away the aggressive middle-aged man, Monica frantically pulled tissues from her bag to wipe his blood.
Twenty minutes later—
Police station.
"Call a family member to bail you out, the hotel’s damage costs are ten thousand, compensation must be settled too." The officer stated sternly.
"It’s his fault!" Anton Miller was upset, furiously pointed at the shirtless middle-aged man, "He kept pestering the waitress, she was obviously disgusted; I couldn’t stand by and did my part! Plus, he threw the first punch!"
The middle-aged man couldn’t help but wanted to strike again, "Mind your own business! Courting death!"
The officer held him back, warning, "This is the police station! Behave!"
Then the officer separated them for questioning, moving Anton Miller and Monica into the waiting room first.
Anton Miller pressed a tissue to his nose, the bleeding had stopped, Monica urged him to go to the hospital first, but he refused.
The middle-aged man remained defiant in the interrogation room, "This kid can’t mind his own business! Aren’t bars meant for having fun?"
Outside, Monica looked at him with pain, reaching out her hand, "Give me your phone."
He seemingly didn’t hear, silently covering his nose, refusing to look at her, displaying the stubbornness of a young man.
"Give it to me quickly." Monica knew if she called Justin, he certainly wouldn’t answer.
