Chapter 8: Jing’s Mother Urges Marriage
CHAPTER 8: CHAPTER 8: JING’S MOTHER URGES MARRIAGE
Having officially recognized their dad, Gigi joyfully hugged her little sister!
"Dolly! We have a daddy now! The kids at kindergarten can’t say we don’t have a daddy anymore!"
"But what about mommy?" clingy Dolly seemed a bit worried, "Can we still see mommy?"
"Of course, we can." Gigi hugged Dolly’s shoulder, leaned in, and whispered in her ear, "Don’t forget that our next goal is to match up daddy and mommy."
Justin Kingston’s handsome eyebrows relaxed, and with a deep magnetic voice, he said, "From now on, this is your home. If you need anything, tell the butler, or you can also tell me."
"Daddy! I love you!" Gigi declared excitedly.
He played hide-and-seek with Dolly and the servants, ate exquisite and hot pastries, guessed riddles, drove sports cars... hoping to ease his sister’s longing for mommy.
With her brother’s efforts, Dolly’s spirits lifted as well, after all, she was just a child.
The solemn and quiet mansion erupted with unprecedented liveliness, filled with children’s laughter.
Justin Kingston’s long lonely heart warmed up, as if the emptiness was suddenly filled.
The children played downstairs.
He went upstairs into the study, intending to reply to some emails, when suddenly his phone rang.
Justin slowed his pace, took out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, and swiped his long finger over the answer button, "Mom."
"When are you finally marrying Monica?" Kristina Kingston had held it in for a long time, asking directly, "Give me a definite answer now."
Justin stood in front of the window, his profound gaze watching the children playing in the yard, and asked calmly, "Is there nothing else you can call me about?"
"Nothing is more important than this!" The woman’s voice on the other end of the phone turned colder, "Monica’s flight is at five o’clock tomorrow afternoon, go pick her up from the airport."
Justin slid one hand into his pocket, his thin lips slightly parted, "Tomorrow is the mayor’s daughter’s 20th birthday. I need to attend the banquet, no time to pick her up."
"Justin!" His mother fumed, then calmed herself, "It doesn’t matter if you don’t pick her up, but the day after tomorrow you must come back for dinner together and set a date to finalize the wedding!"
"I won’t marry her." The man’s rejection was unreserved, "Don’t hold any expectations."
"Son!" His mother pleaded earnestly, "They always say to establish a family before a career, implying that this is more important than work. Besides Monica Usher, I can’t think of any other woman worthy of you."
Justin happened to see Gigi picking a rose, kneeling like a little prince before Dolly. Was the little guy proposing?
The man’s lips unexpectedly curled into a beautiful arc, with a rare softness appearing in his eyes.
"Didn’t you say she’s your right-hand partner? Monica will definitely be the best supportive wife. Can’t you see her contributions to The Kingston Group over the years?"
Justin didn’t want to waste a single brain cell on this. He directly hung up the phone.
Not wanting to understand his mother’s feelings at all.
When he retracted his smile, he exuded an aura of "strangers, do not approach," causing the air pressure in the study to drop a few degrees.
Until the phone rang again, he intended to hang up but saw it was a different number.
He connected, placing the phone to his ear.
"CEO Kingston." The other party respectfully reported, "Miss Lane’s background seems deliberately hidden. What can be found is quite limited now."
"..." He lightly furrowed his brow, eyes deep.
The other party attempted to report...
Until the call ended, Justin didn’t utter a single word.
He put down the phone, feeling as if a stone wall blocked his heart, causing discomfort.
She had no parents, no relatives, and had spent six years alone in Sunshine Village with two kids, helping villagers out of poverty, planting flowers, herbs, managing fish ponds, and had developed the livestock industry excellently well.
She was skilled in medicine, handling both major and minor illnesses of the villagers, regarded almost like a fairy in their eyes...
Yet sometimes she fainted from exhaustion.
Somehow, recalling the earlier report from the phone, his heart felt uneasy.
These years, she must have had a hard time.
Sitting in the study, this man who dominated the business world felt as if something had bumped against his heart.
