Chapter 46: Not One Family
CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: NOT ONE FAMILY
The next day, Eleanor Sterling drove back to the Sterling Family home.
The Sterling Family villa looked magnificent in the morning light, and there were servants busily trimming the grass and tidying up the lawn.
When she walked inside, a servant at the door immediately looked over, "Miss Eleanor?"
"Where is Faye Sterling?"
"Miss Faye and Madam are in the garden," the servant replied.
Eleanor Sterling headed straight towards the garden. On the iron chairs, Faye Sterling and Rosalie Ray were sitting there drinking tea, looking leisurely and at ease.
George Sterling was also there, and the three of them appeared to be a harmonious family.
"Faye, your jewelry company is doing quite well lately, isn’t it?" George Sterling asked with concern.
Faye Sterling nodded repeatedly, "Yes, it’s gaining some fame. I believe it won’t be long before it becomes more renowned internationally."
George Sterling gazed affectionately at Faye Sterling, praising, "Faye is truly remarkable, indeed, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree."
He looked at Faye with extreme doting eyes, just like a loving father.
Rosalie Ray chimed in with a bright smile, "Faye didn’t inherit your good genes for nothing. She’s always been great at business."
Faye Sterling quickly took George Sterling’s arm, "Yes, Dad, it’s all because of your good guidance."
Eleanor Sterling stood there observing for quite a while, feeling an intense suffocation in her chest, as if she had never enjoyed such warm concern from George Sterling since childhood.
What always greeted her was suppression, especially after Faye Sterling was born. George Sterling looked at Faye with satisfaction in all aspects, while she felt clumsy everywhere.
After casting a passing glance at the two, Eleanor Sterling walked straight over and stood before the three of them.
Faye Sterling exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, sister, you’re back."
George Sterling frowned, "What are you here for?"
His tone of disgust, as if she had desperately brought herself here.
Eleanor Sterling had long trained herself not to let emotions show, she replied coldly, "Mr. Sterling misunderstood, it was Faye Sterling who asked me to come back."
When Faye Sterling was mentioned, George Sterling remained silent, his gaze turned cold as he looked at her, frowning.
Faye Sterling smiled with a curl to her lips and said, "Dad, sister has been back in Veridia City for quite some time, and we haven’t seen her for years. Mom and I brought her back for a meal."
Eleanor Sterling sneered, "No need, I’m not interested in eating the Sterling Family’s food."
Upon hearing this, George Sterling became furious and lashed out.
"What do you mean! Does eating the Sterling Family’s food lower your status? You should look at what you’ve done; we’re not even holding it against you!"
Eleanor Sterling’s smile grew colder, "What have I done?"
"You..." George Sterling wanted to say something but seemed to have thought better of it and swallowed hard, his face darkening.
Seeing this, Eleanor Sterling’s eyes became even colder.
George Sterling knew after all!
The matter of Faye Sterling and Rosalie Ray’s betrayal, her father knew about it and condoned the two.
Rosalie Ray had called Eleanor Sterling back with ulterior motives and hurried to ease the tense situation.
"Gregory, don’t be angry, it’s rare for Eleanor to come back, let’s have a family meal to reminisce. Your father has been asking about you."
Eleanor Sterling’s eyes flashed with mockery.
She and Rosalie Ray were not family.
"Not needed, where’s Aunt Jade?" Eleanor Sterling didn’t bother with Rosalie Ray’s pretense.
Rosalie Ray pretended not to hear and continued to persuade Eleanor Sterling.
"Eleanor, there’s no knot between a father and daughter that can’t be untied. I know you harbor resentment, but after all, your incident caused quite an uproar, it’s natural for your father to be angry."
Upon hearing this, Eleanor Sterling sneered, "Wasn’t it Mrs. Sterling who orchestrated that incident? Now you’re saying it in a way that almost makes me believe you’re innocent."
