CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: DON’T BE IMPULSIVE, I’M YOUR SISTER-IN-LAW
Eleanor Sterling’s eye twitched, her expression slightly changing, "President Faulkner, let’s talk this over."
Being pressed so close to each other made her feel very insecure, and it was far too intimate.
Alaric Faulkner’s thin lips curved slightly as he asked faintly, "Is it fun?"
Eleanor feigned ignorance, "What is President Faulkner talking about? I don’t understand."
Looking at Eleanor’s innocent face, Alaric’s smile deepened as he slowly said, "Earlier at the hospital, you said you wanted to repay me with your body."
He paused, his eyes deepening, "I agreed."
With that, Alaric reached out and lifted her chin, and Eleanor instantly fell into a pair of eyes so deep they were almost intoxicating.
"Wait! President Faulkner, I’m your sister-in-law, don’t be impulsive."
A light chuckle escaped Alaric’s throat as he looked at Eleanor with deep meaning, a chill in his eyes.
So this woman knew who he was from the beginning and still pretended not to recognize him, lying through her teeth like a little trickster.
"President Faulkner, it’s better if we keep our distance, or we’ll be struck by lightning."
Alaric’s brows furrowed, seemingly a bit displeased.
All these years, he had only been with one woman, Faye Sterling.
It was under unclear circumstances, and that woman turned up with Caleb Faulkner, claiming that after a paternity test, Caleb was his son.
Yet, all these years, he felt nothing for Faye, even disliking her proximity.
Eleanor and Faye were sisters, yet he didn’t resist the aura surrounding Eleanor, which was quite strange.
Just as Eleanor was thinking of an excuse to persuade Alaric, he suddenly reached out, took the bowl of rice from her hand, and turned to walk out.
Eleanor froze, blinking her eyes.
What did he mean? Was he planning to eat here?
Not only was it Caleb Faulkner’s first time eating such a simple home-cooked meal, but also Alaric Faulkner’s.
Simple, yet filled with warmth.
A whole table of dishes, exuding an appetizing aroma, it seemed Eleanor’s culinary skills were quite good.
Eleanor’s eyes swept over the table, looking at the father and son sitting with identical expressions, and she silently sighed.
Alright, these two planned to stay and eat.
It was just a meal, she wouldn’t be so stingy.
As the atmosphere stagnated, Estelle Sterling stepped in to ease things, inviting everyone, "Don’t just stand there, I’m starving, hurry and try these cola chicken wings, Sister Eleanor’s specialty."
Over the years, Eleanor had been living alone abroad, long mastering good cooking skills, and after Estelle spoke, she didn’t care about Alaric or Caleb and just started eating.
Eleanor hadn’t prepared much food, originally just enough for Caleb Faulkner, but with Alaric Faulkner too, it was barely enough.
After eating to about seventy percent full, the whole table of dishes was cleared, and the father and son still seemed unsatisfied.
Eleanor stood up, "I’ll wash the dishes, you can all leave now."
After speaking, she began to collect the dishes and headed to the kitchen.
Caleb Faulkner, satisfied, leaned back in his chair, he liked this mom. Not only was her cooking delicious, but she was also straightforward and genuine.
He glanced at Alaric Faulkner, "You can go now."
Alaric’s expression was cold and heavy, what did this kid mean? Was he kicking him out? Did he plan to stay?
When Eleanor came out after doing the dishes, she saw the big and small still sitting there, glaring at each other.
She was immediately unhappy.
What did they mean by this? Were they actually intending to freeload on her?
Caleb could be excused, just a kid, but Alaric was a grown man, also her brother-in-law.
Being alone in an apartment with him, the rumors could get quite nasty.
