Chapter 823: Let Me Tell You a Secret
CHAPTER 823: CHAPTER 823: LET ME TELL YOU A SECRET
Alaric Faulkner had taken medicine that could change his voice, so now his voice was a bit rough and hoarse. Combined with the human skin mask he was wearing, Mrs. Faulkner couldn’t recognize that the person in front of her was actually her own son.
Eleanor Sterling had a hard time holding back her laughter. She cleared her throat lightly and said, "Mom, I have a secret to tell you."
Mrs. Faulkner looked at Eleanor in surprise, "What secret?"
Eleanor leaned closer to her ear and whispered, "Actually, Alaric is not dead."
Mrs. Faulkner was shocked, as if struck by lightning. She widened her eyes at Eleanor, unable to comprehend for a moment.
Her lips trembled, and after a long while, she managed to say, "What... what did you say?"
Eleanor nodded very seriously and said, "What I’m saying is true."
"Eleanor, don’t lie to me. Didn’t you say before that Alaric... and now how..."
Mrs. Faulkner was so astonished that she couldn’t finish her sentence, seemingly unable to accept such shocking news.
Eleanor accused Alaric Faulkner, saying, "We did this to lure out Franklin Faulkner, the mastermind behind the scenes, so we had to take this measure."
Mrs. Faulkner looked at Alaric Faulkner, scrutinizing him for a moment, seemingly starting to piece things together.
"Are you Alaric?"
Alaric Faulkner nodded, "Mom, I’m sorry."
Mrs. Faulkner believed him and immediately rushed into his arms, sobbing and crying.
"You rascal, you lied to me for so long."
She cried while continuously complaining, and Alaric Faulkner gently patted her back, "Mm, it’s my fault."
It took Mrs. Faulkner quite some time to calm down her emotions. She then took a closer look at Alaric Faulkner and finally noticed that although his face was strange, his figure and eyes were familiar.
No wonder she had felt a sense of familiarity before, but she just couldn’t connect the dots.
She thought to herself why Eleanor could find another man so quickly while still pregnant, and as it turned out, it had been Alaric Faulkner all along.
Alaric Faulkner helplessly comforted Mrs. Faulkner. It took quite a while to soothe her.
"Mom, can I stay now?"
"Of course you can. Don’t worry, I’ll turn a blind eye. I’ll go to bed now, so I won’t disturb you two."
Mrs. Faulkner, having learned the truth and knowing her son wasn’t dead, naturally wouldn’t interfere with the young couple.
She promptly stood up and said, "Don’t tire Eleanor out. She’s not the same as before, so take it easy."
"Mm, I know." Alaric Faulkner replied without a change in expression.
Meanwhile, Eleanor’s cheeks flushed slightly. What kind of bold words were these two exchanging?
After sending Mrs. Faulkner off, Alaric Faulkner turned back and smiled, "Eleanor, she’s gone."
After speaking, he went over to carry her to bed.
"Hey, you didn’t just tell Mom the truth so you could sleep with me openly, did you?"
At this moment, Eleanor suspected that Alaric Faulkner revealed the truth to Mrs. Faulkner for personal desires.
Alaric Faulkner chuckled coldly, "Of course, living under the same roof but staying apart is truly a challenge."
He leaned close to Eleanor and said, "Don’t you miss me? Don’t you want to sleep cuddled in my arms?"
Eleanor’s cheeks turned red. His face was so thick-skinned; how could Alaric Faulkner have the nerve to say such things?
However, she somehow wanted to agree, as she wasn’t accustomed to sleeping without being in his arms.
Alaric Faulkner turned over and began to kiss Eleanor.
She quickly dodged, "Mom just said, don’t get handsy."
"She just said to be moderate, I’ll be careful."
In the end, Eleanor still indulged Alaric Faulkner. After all they had been through, there was no need to worry too much. Enjoying life while they could, without knowing what surprise tomorrow might bring.
