CHAPTER 123: 121, SWEET DINING!
"Why are you smiling so happily?"
"Looks like the payout was pretty good."
Luofeng muttered to himself and quietly began to wait.
The payment settlement went smoothly, without any overly dramatic incidents.
"I’m really curious how many orders you managed to close to get such a significant cut."
As Duanmu Yunji approached, Luofeng glanced at her long legs.
Then he handed over the Lamborghini car keys.
"You should be asking yourself that."
"Ask me?"
"Silly, it was your car purchase. With a 2% commission, who else would I ask but you?"
Luofeng thought it over.
A six-million car.
Two percent is 120,000.
Plus the three thousand for the three-day base pay?
So that’s 129,000?
Indeed, it’s so easy for beautiful women to make money. Of course, if one could earn money just by lying down, it would come even faster. And naturally, if one has skillful ’moves,’ the money comes quicker still.
"’Only two percent? I’m not saying it’s bad, but...’" Luofeng pouted. That seems pretty low.
Typically, car sales commissions range from 2% to 10%.
Duanmu Yunji’s commission was at the minimum rate.
"How much more do you want? It’s already 120,000, okay? Naturally, if I were an employee at Ferrari, I’d get more. It’s a pity I’m not a formal employee. They get 5%, and some top salespeople even get a 10% commission," Duanmu Yunji continued. "If it’s a loan with a mortgage, there’s also the ongoing financial service commission."
Luofeng nodded and sat in the Lamborghini’s front passenger seat. "So, where are we going to eat?"
"’I won’t tell you yet. You’ll find out in a bit. I really like that place; it’s always been a favorite of mine,’ Duanmu Yunji said, starting the car and focusing on driving.
Even though it was peak rush hour, Duanmu Yunji courteously yielded to the cars in front and behind.
She only waited for the road to widen and clear of vehicles before accelerating to experience the thrill of the Lamborghini Huracán.
"’Drivers in Capital City really are very considerate,’ Luofeng couldn’t help but praise.
"Are you transforming into a yin and yang master again?" Duanmu Yunji asked, rolling her eyes.
"..." Luofeng was momentarily speechless. I compliment her on her considerate driving, and she calls me a yin and yang master for that? Please, a yin and yang master is for warding off unwanted suitors and fulfilling your desire list. Not for a great beauty like yourself. A stunning woman like you is meant to be cherished, okay? Yes, cherished...
...
Around six o’clock in the evening, Duanmu Yunji took Luofeng to an old hutong in the western part of the city.
"’Get out of the car. The hutong is too narrow for the car to enter. We’ll have to walk for about five or six minutes,’ Duanmu Yunji said, unbuckling her seatbelt and reminding Luofeng.
The two strolled under the twilight sky in the small hutong, chatting about something.
Duanmu Yunji, blushing, playfully tapped Luofeng’s arm.
As they continued walking, she suddenly pointed to a rusty gate within the hutong. "Little brother, this is where I went to elementary school, though the school has moved since then."
"’So, your home is nearby?’ Luofeng guessed, his speculation based on her desire list.
"’Not exactly. My maternal grandma’s home was here,’ Duanmu Yunji said.
Luofeng observed her expression and, connecting it with her desire list, deduced that her grandmother might have passed away, so he didn’t probe further.
Although Luofeng didn’t ask, Duanmu Yunji continued, "My grandma passed away a few years ago, and the old house here was sold. Now, it’s just a place of childhood memories."
Luofeng didn’t respond. After walking a bit further, Duanmu Yunji led Luofeng into the courtyard of an old residential building in the small hutong. "Here we are."
Luofeng looked over and saw a sign: Granny Lin Mutton Rice Noodle Store.
The store’s sign was quite simple, placed on the ground rather than hung up. It was very old and clearly hadn’t been changed in many years.
"’When I was in elementary school, I often ate Granny Lin’s mutton offal noodles. They’re really delicious, and this place has been open for many years,’ Duanmu Yunji said, quickly leading Luofeng inside.
The courtyard was naturally a communal space, everyone’s shared territory, so Granny Lin wouldn’t use it for business. The actual dining area, with tables set up, was in the room directly east of the courtyard.
Although the room only appeared to be fifty or sixty square meters, with efficient use of space, it still held four or five tables.
"’Granny Lin, I’d like two servings of mutton offal. Mine regular, but please add extra offal to his. We’ll settle the bill later.’ As soon as Duanmu Yunji walked in, she familiarly made the arrangements.
"’Yunji, you’re here! It’s been a while since I last saw you.’ Granny Lin, a spirited-looking woman likely in her sixties, asked, ’So, is this your boyfriend?’
Duanmu Yunji blushed slightly. She neither denied nor confirmed, instead saying, "Um, Granny Lin, please cook my noodles a bit longer, the usual way, you know."
"’Oh, oh, okay.’ Granny Lin nodded. Naturally, she wouldn’t pry; it was just a casual question.
Soon, Duanmu Yunji and Luofeng were seated at Table No. 1.
About three minutes later, two bowls of steaming hot mutton offal noodles were served.
Instantly, Luofeng was met with the rich aroma of mutton.
"’Here, this bowl is yours, with extra meat!’"
"’Thank you.’ Luofeng looked at the generously piled mutton offal and smiled warmly.
From her observations, Duanmu Yunji knew Luofeng was a carnivore. So she had added a lot more meat.
"’Granny Lin gave me so much meat too, even with my regular portion.’ Duanmu Yunji looked at Luofeng. ’I’ll give you some; I haven’t started eating yet...’"
"’Ah? You can’t finish it?’"
"’I can finish a regular portion, but this is too much,’ Duanmu Yunji said.
Luofeng knew she wasn’t just being polite, so he nodded.
And so, Luofeng’s bowl of mutton offal became even more laden with meat.
But Luofeng, being a carnivore, wasn’t daunted by the extra amount.
"’This mutton offal soup is truly delicious.’ Luofeng scooped up some broth, blew on it gently to cool it, then tasted it.
This mutton offal soup base definitely isn’t a product of "high-tech" shortcuts; it’s been slowly simmered. Many food stalls on the market use mutton soup base powder; adding it to a pot of water creates a mutton-flavored broth. But compared to this kind, slowly simmered overnight with mutton bones over a low flame, the difference in taste is worlds apart. Nevertheless, those food stalls focus heavily on seasoning to make their food very tasty. Coupled with good locations, their business naturally booms. In contrast, a remote place like this uses truly authentic ingredients.
"’Try the rice noodles too?’ Duanmu Yunji gestured.
"’Mm.’ Luofeng nodded, again blowing on them before putting them in his mouth.
He quickly discovered that Granny Lin’s rice noodles were different from others; they were incredibly smooth and also resilient.
The ones on the market are usually too floury, with no texture at all, and it’s like eating plastic—probably too much alum. Although adding it to rice noodles isn’t allowed... but in this society... to give the rice noodles some resilience, of course, they add it.
"’You noticed, right? These aren’t mass-produced rice noodles ordered from a factory. Granny Lin makes them herself by hand—one hundred percent pure, handmade, and traditional,’ Duanmu Yunji said, her face lighting up with pleasure when she saw Luofeng seemed to be enjoying them.
"’They’re definitely different. Thanks for sharing this delicious food with me,’ Luofeng smiled and continued to eat heartily.
About ten minutes later, seeing Luofeng had finished eating, Duanmu Yunji proactively went to Granny Lin to pay.
Then she returned with a bowl of mutton soup. "Here, I saw you really seemed to like it. This is complimentary. If it weren’t for me, this would cost extra."
"’Thank you.’ Luofeng did indeed love this lamb bone broth.
He blew on it gently a few times and then began to savor it.
This mutton broth, ladled directly from the large pot, was indeed far more pure and flavorful than the seasoned broth in the rice noodles. It was exceptionally good.
"’Thank you so much, Yunji. If it weren’t for you, I never would have found such a delicious place. Next time I’m in Capital City, we have to come back here.’
Luofeng reflexively said ’we have to come back here.’
Duanmu Yunji didn’t object.
Luofeng knew this meant there was a chance for another date.
"’Little brother, after we finish eating, I’ll take you somewhere,’ Duanmu Yunji said, noticing Luofeng wiping his mouth.
"’Oh? Where to?’"
Duanmu Yunji smiled secretively. "You’ll find out soon enough."
