CHAPTER 528: 526, WALL SLAM! SNEAK PEEK!

At lunchtime, Magic City TV Station, as expected, began to report on Jiamei Construction Company’s business. The introduction of Jia Mei Company alone was broadcasted for a full two minutes. Only after the broadcast ended did they mention what the company had done to show its care for sanitation workers. It was clear that Lin Xiaoyun’s family really carried some weight in Shanghai. Otherwise, no matter how much they donated, such a large local station wouldn’t have spent so much time on an introduction.

Of course, Luofeng didn’t stay at home for long. The house was full of relatives, and Luofeng had no desire to deal with them. He greeted them briefly and then slipped away. After leaving home, Luofeng drove straight to the Blue Sky Residential Area to find Bai Ningbing. Little Fairy had returned to her hometown, so now Bai Ningbing was the only one left for him in Shanghai.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

Luofeng knocked.

"Who is it?" Bai Ningbing’s voice came through.

"Baby, open up!" Luofeng responded.

Upon hearing Luofeng’s voice, Bai Ningbing checked through the peephole before opening the door.

"Why are you here again?" Bai Ningbing asked.

As soon as Luofeng entered, he glanced at the living room. Tangya wasn’t there. He immediately cornered Bai Ningbing in the entryway and pinned her against the wall.

Bai Ningbing meant to resist, but despite her verbal protests, her body was honest—she wrapped her arms around Luofeng’s waist.

Then Luofeng leaned in for a kiss.

Bai Ningbing clumsily began to respond.

Luofeng was puzzled. Is she really that clumsy? We’ve kissed several times, but she’s still so awkward. No wonder she keeps failing subject three of her driving test.

The two kissed passionately.

Meanwhile, Tangya was in her bedroom, apparently reviewing work documents. She had heard the knocking. When no further sounds followed, she came out to check. She saw Luofeng pinning Bai Ningbing against the wall, the two of them lost in a kiss. Her face reddened slightly, and she quietly retreated to her room.

"Ningbing, who was at the door?" Tangya’s voice called from the bedroom.

Luofeng released Bai Ningbing. Bai Ningbing first rolled her eyes at Luofeng before saying, "Mom, it’s Luofeng!"

"Auntie, sorry to disturb you again," Luofeng said with a smile. "We have too many relatives over, and I don’t know most of them, so I came here to take refuge!"

Tangya understood. She placed the work documents she was holding onto the coffee table. "Luofeng, have a seat. I’ll go get a couple of apples!"

"Don’t trouble yourself, Auntie!" Luofeng said.

Tangya didn’t reply; she had clearly gone to peel the apples.

Luofeng glanced at the work documents Tangya had left on the coffee table. It was a loan application from Adam’s Battery Technology Company. The company was applying for one billion to develop a brand-new battery technology. Luofeng read the first page but didn’t pick it up to look at the others, as that would be impolite.

Bai Ningbing was watching TV. Luofeng squeezed in beside her to look. The Top Scholar Beauty was watching Magic City TV Station, specifically the report on Jia Mei Company.

SLAP!

Bai Ningbing smacked Luofeng’s mischievous hand. "Magic City TV Station sure moves fast!" she remarked, looking at the television.

Luofeng retracted his ’An Lushan’ hand. "Of course, they have to report something like this quickly. What if our Jiamei changes its mind?"

Bai Ningbing started searching for the news online. As she searched, she asked, "When does your school year start?"

"We finish early and start early. I have to register on the seventh, eighth, or ninth of next month," Luofeng said. "What about you?"

"Around the sixteenth for us," Bai Ningbing said with a hint of regret. "By that time, you guys will have already started school!"

"Are you talking about Valentine’s Day?" Luofeng teased with a smirk.

Bai Ningbing’s face flushed.

"Baby, every day is Valentine’s Day for us!" Luofeng said. "Most of these holidays are just dreamed up by businesses to trick people into spending more. We don’t need special holidays!"

Bai Ningbing nodded obediently. Luofeng has a point. When she was with Luofeng, if they wanted, every day could be Valentine’s Day.

Tangya walked into the living room with a plate of apples. She placed it on the coffee table, having already stuck toothpicks into the apple slices. "Luofeng, have some fruit!"

"Okay, thank you, Auntie!" Luofeng nodded.

"By the way, Auntie, what’s the deal with this Adam’s Battery Company?" Luofeng asked, pointing to the documents on the table.

Tangya explained, "Adam’s battery wants to upgrade its technology and invest in a new research project, so they’re hoping for a low-interest loan of one billion!"

"How low is the interest?" Luofeng asked curiously.

"It’s a five-year term at 3.5 percent annual interest, about 70 percent of the benchmark rate," Tangya replied.

"That interest rate isn’t bad, is it?" Luofeng remarked. "Our Jiamei’s previous rate was only around 2.5 percent!"

Tangya rolled her eyes at Luofeng. "Jiamei is Jiamei. Given Jiamei’s situation, the likelihood of them defaulting is low. But Adam’s battery is a different story; their current situation isn’t good."

"What do you mean?" Luofeng asked.

"Their sales are struggling. Although Adam’s battery has advanced technology, companies like Tesla and BYD have their own battery factories. Plus, with competitors like LG Chemistry and Panasonic, Adam’s battery is having a tough time," Tangya explained. "Considering Adam’s battery’s circumstances, their loan application will most likely be rejected. The default risk is too high, and hoping for a reduced interest rate on top of that is almost impossible," Tangya added.

"I see," Luofeng said. "Auntie, did you get a promotion?"

Previously, Tangya was the deputy manager of VIP reception, so she certainly wouldn’t have been reviewing loan applications.

Tangya nodded. "You remember the problems at the bank earlier? Many people were fired. I’ve now taken over as the deputy manager of the Credit Department."

"The Credit Department, huh?" Luofeng teased. "That’s a department with plenty of perks!"

Tangya retorted, "It’s not good at all!"

"Oh? Why is that?" Luofeng asked, puzzled.

"The Credit Department isn’t like it used to be. Take this battery company, for instance. I’m responsible for approving the loan, which means I’m also responsible for the project. If they fail to repay or can’t repay, I’ll be held accountable. Or take your Jiamei, for example. To secure your business, we offered such favorable terms that there’s basically no commission or performance bonus in it for me."

Hearing this, Luofeng asked curiously, "So, regarding our Jiamei, Auntie gets no commission at all?"
