CHAPTER 50: CHAPTER 48: THE HIDDEN SMALL BUILDING

With Gu Xi’s words spoken, sure enough, the force stopping him weakened significantly, but there still seemed to be some force keeping him from moving forward.

Gu Xi thought for a moment and quickly understood the situation.

He then loudly declared, "I am the owner of this land, and as such, I make the decision that this place belongs to the Dammingwei District, and has no relation to the Camden District."

As soon as he finished speaking, the force that was blocking him disappeared completely.

Simultaneously, the ruins before him changed, retreating to both sides to reveal a bizarre three-story building made of various materials, covering an area of about two hundred square meters. It looked like a well-constructed apartment building combined haphazardly with other materials.

Twisted and strange, however, Gu Xi noticed that the windows of the building seemed larger and more plentiful than those of a typical apartment building, as if they had been deliberately modified.

Additionally, there was a small garden in front of the building, covering an area of about one hundred square meters.

In the garden were various special flowers and herbs.

A small smile appeared on Gu Xi’s face.

It seemed his conjecture was correct; there were two rules excluding outsiders from entering here. The first being that this place was unowned; if the landowner showed up with a legal land title or other documentation, the first rule could not stop them.

The second layer was regarding district boundaries, reflecting a deep understanding of human nature.

As he had suspected, no one would choose to miss out on the opportunity within Camden District, opting instead to place this house in the Dammingwei District.

Therefore, the people here had occupied this place for many years without worries.

Now that the rightful owner had arrived, no amount of arrangements could prevent taking control.

Looking at the newly appeared apartment building, Gu Xi brandished his Shattering Staff and stepped forward.

Behind him, a great stone door swiftly rose.

Gu Xi’s Skeleton Soldiers emerged through the door.

"Enter, take control of this building and clear out everything inside."

The Skeleton Soldiers understood what Gu Xi meant by "clear out"; this was not housekeeping but elimination of any dangers in the apartment building.

Judging by the abnormal building, Gu Xi would have considered demolishing it to construct anew if time wasn’t pressing.

The Skeleton Soldiers had just charged out, when a strong gust of wind passed by.

A tail as thick as a person swung from the gate, smashing the leading Skeleton Soldier into pieces.

As the situation became clear, Gu Xi saw a giant serpent pinned to the gate, able to move only its tail, while its head was nailed with three iron nails, merging it with the gate.

"Luna!"

Seeing the scene, Gu Xi decisively commanded.

Luna, who had been hiding behind Gu Xi, instantly understood and swiftly appeared behind the serpent, pointing her finger at it.

Touch of Frost!

The serpent was quickly frozen, while several Skeleton Soldiers moved forward, thrusting their long spears heavily into the serpent’s vulnerable points.

With the serpent’s death, a piercing alarm resounded from the apartment building.

The sound was even sharper than Luna’s Banshee Wail, but bore no offensive power.

Yet, accompanying the sound, a large flock of owls emerged from the nearby windows.

The number of owls was immense, with several hundred swooping down upon Gu Xi.

Do not underestimate the owls’ attack power; these creatures were carnivorous, typically preying on rabbits, mice, and snakes.

As they came out, they dove directly at the Skeleton Soldiers, seemingly intending to drag them into the sky and drop them.

Gu Xi had only so much force at his disposal; he couldn’t afford to lose his subordinates here.

As the owls descended, Gu Xi pointed skyward.

"Kill!"

Immediately, ten Bone Spikes flew out like arrows, piercing through the owls’ bodies.

[...]

As Gu Xi attacked, several Skeleton Soldiers quickly positioned themselves in front of him, raising shields to deflect incoming aerial assaults.

With his own safety secured, Gu Xi focused on the owls falling from the sky and, pointing to their corpses, commanded again.

"Corpse Burst!"

This caused several owl corpses to explode on the spot, taking out nearby owls in the blast.

After a few more owls were killed, Gu Xi’s Skeleton Soldiers began their slashing assault on the remaining owls.

Though the owls were numerous, their level was relatively low. Initially, their immense flock seemed formidable, but after surviving a round of blasts, the task became simpler; a single Skeleton Soldier, if not dragged into the sky, could effortlessly kill twenty owls.

Now it was even more so, as the Skeleton Soldiers attacked with full force, slashing at the owls in coordination, with those wielding two-handed swords at close range, and long spears from a distance.

Any owl descending to a lower altitude was swiftly pinned to the ground.

Just then, a door behind Gu Xi unexpectedly flung open, and a dark figure burst out.

The movement of this shadow was quite odd, appearing to float. However, it couldn’t float far, stopping mid-air after flying dozens of meters.

When it paused, the original form of the shadow became clear: a man in a black robe, with a face so twisted that it was unrecognizable, with only a few teeth remaining.

But as the man steadied himself, he aimed a finger at Gu Xi, shooting forth a red light from his hand.

The Skeleton Soldier in front of Gu Xi quickly raised its shield, blocking the red light with its own body.

As the Skeleton Soldier exploded, Gu Xi retreated backward and flung two Bone Spikes at the shadow.

However, Gu Xi’s Bone Spikes could not match the speed of the shadow’s movement.

Several Bone Spikes flew out without hitting the target.

Fortunately, the shadow had to stop to attack, and while in shadow form, it couldn’t attack others.

Gu Xi’s hands kept moving, preventing this enemy from stopping.

Luna, heeding Gu Xi’s signal, simultaneously sought the opportunity to freeze the enemy.

As Gu Xi prepared for this, his Skeleton Soldiers had slaughtered all the owls and began launching towards the shadow.
