Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 147: Damien Lancaster Awakens, Damien Lancaster Repents
CHAPTER 147: CHAPTER 147: DAMIEN LANCASTER AWAKENS, DAMIEN LANCASTER REPENTS
Ivy Summers didn’t notice this.
After speaking, she straightened up, gave Damien Lancaster a deep look, and walked away.
As soon as Ivy left, the old man immediately approached, "Ivy, thank you for coming."
Ivy said nothing, nodded slightly, and turned to leave.
Seraphina Kennedy was furious, her eyes red with anger. Ivy had come and slapped her son twice, yet the old man was thanking her.
This was completely absurd.
...
While the Lancaster Family was still in a rage, the doctor informed them that Damien Lancaster’s condition had stabilized a bit compared to before.
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned.
Ivy hadn’t done anything else, just slapped Damien a few times, and his condition improved?
How miraculous was that?
Zachary Lancaster twitched his mouth corners, reaching a conclusion about his brother’s situation.
That was: He needed to be slapped!
So, over the next few days, Zachary went to Ivy daily, begging her to slap Damien a couple more times.
As long as Ivy could slap Damien awake, even if his face swelled up, The Lancaster Family would praise her for it.
"Sister-in-law, please go slap him a few more times; maybe he’ll wake up."
"Slap him; he just needs to be slapped..."
"Go ahead, slap him; any number of slaps is fine..."
Ivy had never met someone so in need of a slap before, covering her ears, extremely annoyed.
Ella Morgan was so enraged she put up a sign in front of Ivy’s hospital room:
Zachary Lancaster and dogs not allowed inside!
After being barred from entering, Zachary would howl at Ivy’s door, even the nurses and doctors hired to care for Ivy thought Zachary was crazy.
That day, Ella rushed into Ivy’s hospital room, breathlessly saying, "Ivy, something big happened."
Ivy looked up indifferently, "What is it?"
"The Lancaster Family wants Rachel Shaw to marry Damien Lancaster under the guise of a marriage to bring good luck."
Ivy was slightly taken aback but quickly regained her composure, casually responding with a yes.
"Ivy, aren’t you worried? Rachel harmed Sophie; are we really going to let her marry Damien?"
"I’ll get revenge for what she did to Sophie, but marrying into the Lancaster Family is their business, besides..."
Can they even get married?
If Damien dies, she can’t marry him.
If Damien lives, she still can’t marry him.
Ivy didn’t believe that Damien would want to marry someone who had caused his own daughter’s death.
Ella watched Ivy’s indifferent demeanor, feeling anxious.
Ever since Sophie was gone, Ivy’s emotions had been blunted except for the day of the funeral, as if nothing could stir her emotions anymore.
This was not a good thing; Ella feared Ivy would become depressed.
...
The engagement news between the First Young Master Lancaster and Miss Shaw quickly spread through various media outlets, rapidly trending online.

The Shaw Family was in high spirits, their home bustling with guests who came to congratulate and curry favor.
Phillip Shaw seemed to have forgotten Damien’s earlier words, that for the Shaw Family’s peace, they should cut ties with Rachel.
But Phillip did no such thing; instead, he flaunted Rachel and Damien’s engagement, reveling in becoming the father-in-law of Damien, suddenly becoming the object of the elite’s flattery throughout the city.
When Ivy saw these news reports, she skimmed through them as if they had nothing to do with her.
Setting her phone aside, Ivy took two sleeping pills and lay back on the hospital bed.
Perhaps because of a weary heart or overwhelming sadness, lately, she preferred sleeping under the influence of sleeping pills rather than being awake to see this miserable reality.
But even in sleep, her rest was uneasy, plagued by one nightmare after another, as if trying to drag her into the abyss.
In today’s dream, Sophie kept crying constantly. Ivy could hear Sophie’s voice but could not see her, yet even so, Ivy was willing to stay deeply asleep in this dream, not wanting to wake up.
At that moment, the hospital room door was pushed open, and a tall, imposing figure walked in.
Looking down, his gaze fell on the woman curled up on the bed, eyes tightly shut, tears at the corners. Her brows were furrowed, face twisted with anguish as if in the throes of a long nightmare.
The man wanted to touch her out of compassion but restrained himself, pulling his hand back.
He stayed with her for a while, and just as he was about to leave, the woman turned in her sleep, her fingers brushing against his clothing, faintly tugging as the fabric gathered in her palm.
His steps faltered, turning back to gaze at that slender, fair hand, hesitating for a moment, then gently placed it back under the covers.
As he attempted to leave again, he couldn’t bring himself to go.
...
Unbeknownst to her, the bed sank as additional weight settled beside her. Ivy felt herself being embraced by a very familiar presence, shifting restlessly only to burrow closer into that broad embrace.
Moonlight streamed through the gap in the curtains, falling on the man’s form. Ivy strained to open her eyes to a slit, everything bathed in light and shadows, only leaving an impression of a dark silhouette.
Her nostrils caught a familiar scent as the figure leaned in, revealing a sharply defined, handsome face, deep eyes pained with concern.
"Damien Lancaster!"
Ivy’s voice was weak, slurred, somewhere between dreaming and waking.
The man holding her stiffened slightly, pressing his thin lips together, finally responding with a soft, "Hmm."
Ivy’s frown deepened, and in the next moment, she breathed out two faint words, "Damned!"
Damien Lancaster, damned!
The hand of the man stroking the tears from her eyes paused, eyes darkening with what might have been guilt before his low voice replied, "Yes, damned."
Under the influence of the medication, Ivy slept in a daze, a gentle kiss landing on her brow. Then the man tightened his arms around her, his steady yet slightly trembling voice whispered, "But you told me I have two sons, so I don’t dare die..."
