Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 160: Sophie Went to Find Her Dad!
CHAPTER 160: CHAPTER 160: SOPHIE WENT TO FIND HER DAD!
In the emergency, a large hand seized the handle of the lawn mower and forcefully changed its direction.
The lawn mower charged in another direction.
Zachary Lancaster furrowed his brows, his face cold as he shouted, "Uncle Alden!"
The lawn worker came rushing over, "Second Young Master?"
Zachary Lancaster grabbed Uncle Alden by the collar, "Are you looking to die? Leaving the machine running like that, it nearly hit Nathan and Leo!"
The blades of the lawn mower were sharp, and it only took a moment for the machine to cut.
Zachary Lancaster turned back to look at Nathan and Leo; if he hadn’t returned in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable for them.
Uncle Alden glanced at the machine still running wild on the lawn and was completely flustered, "Second Young Master, I clearly shut it off just now, how could it..."
As he spoke, Zachary Lancaster lifted his head and saw a departing figure in the distance—it seemed to be Rachel Shaw.
Zachary Lancaster knitted his brows tightly and released Uncle Alden, sternly saying, "There are children in the house now; don’t let such dangerous things appear near them again."
"Yes, yes, I understand, it won’t happen again," Uncle Alden rushed over and controlled the machine.
Zachary Lancaster glanced at Nathan and Leo, who also realized what had happened.
How could a shut-off machine suddenly start running? Unless someone turned it on!
"Thank you, Uncle." Nathan looked up.
Zachary Lancaster looked at them, "Go back inside."
With that, Zachary Lancaster strode towards the direction Rachel Shaw had left.
Rachel Shaw had just returned to her room when Zachary Lancaster kicked the door open.
Rachel Shaw was startled, looking at the intruding Zachary Lancaster in surprise, "Zachary? You? What’s wrong with you?"
Zachary Lancaster didn’t care that she was a woman and grabbed her by the collar, lifting her up entirely, his fists clenched, "Was it you?"
Rachel Shaw was terrified, "What are you talking about? What did I do?"
"The lawn mower suddenly went berserk and charged at Nathan and Leo, and you just happened to leave from there. Is there really such a coincidence?"
Rachel Shaw looked quite innocent, her eyes wide as if she knew nothing.
"What lawn mower, what charged at Nathan and Leo? I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
"Don’t understand? What are you pretending for?" Zachary Lancaster angrily flung Rachel Shaw aside, "Save that pitiful act for my brother, I find it disgusting."
Rachel Shaw pressed her lips tightly, her eyes reddened, "I did nothing. Why accuse me?"
"If you did nothing, why would people suspect you? Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Fool, if something happens to Nathan and Leo, do you think my brother will let you get away with it?"
"I really did nothing! You say it’s me, do you have any evidence?" Rachel Shaw burst into tears, retorting Zachary Lancaster.
Zachary Lancaster had no evidence; there were no cameras on that piece of lawn.
"Rachel Shaw, I have no evidence, but as the saying goes, often walking by the river, how can you avoid getting your feet wet? If you ever harm my nephews again, I won’t let you off."
Zachary Lancaster slammed the door as he left, and Rachel Shaw’s tear-streaked face suddenly turned malicious.
Just a little bit more, just a little more.
The hateful Zachary Lancaster returned just in time!
No matter, once she marries into the Lancaster Family, she will have many more opportunities.
She would get rid of these two children just like she did with Sophie.
...
Ivy Summers returned home, exhausted, changed out of her wet clothes, and her gaze fell on that wooden box.
Ivy Summers walked over, picked up the box, and examined it carefully before opening the diary she had found at the Summers Family home.
The diary had been left to gather dust in the basement, gotten wet; some words had blurred into little ink spots.
But most of it was still legible:
January 1st, how strange, I don’t even know my name. It was Warren Summers who told me I am Sienna Sterling. I have no family; he’s my only kin. He said he would marry me; we’re getting married.
February 18th, today the hospital confirmed I am pregnant, three months along. Warren Summers says it’s his child, but we just got married yesterday. My memory is so confused. Warren is a good person; he probably won’t lie to me. But everyone in the Summers Family is unhappy. The way they look at me tells me they don’t like me or the child in my belly.
May 28th, today Warren accompanied me for a prenatal checkup. The hospital scenes were so familiar, as if someone once accompanied me like this. But when I turned, the person with me wasn’t the one in my heart. But who was I thinking of?
I asked Warren why I’ve lost my memory. He only told me it was a consequence of injuries from a car accident. But I checked, and the doctor said my brain had never been injured. My most trusted husband deceived me. I don’t know why he lied or why I lost my memory.
July 1st, my baby was born. It’s a girl. She’s so beautiful. I wanted to share my joy with my beloved, but when I looked up, I called out another name in front of Warren: Connor Norwood.
Who is Connor Norwood? I don’t know; I have no memory. But he seems to be someone very important to me. Later, Warren said our daughter would be named Ivy Summers, nickname Ivy. I love this name, and so does Ivy. She smiled at me, but I cried. I cried for myself.
November 15th, today isn’t a special day, yet I went to buy a cake, quietly wishing someone a happy birthday.
Ivy Summers anxiously turned the pages, but the following pages were torn out.
Ivy Summers gripped the diary tightly.
Where did the missing pages go? Who tore them out?
Ivy Summers flipped through the diary repeatedly, trying every date on the box, but failed to open it.
The password for the box, she didn’t know.
Who is Connor Norwood? She didn’t know either.
What is the truth behind her mother’s amnesia? Why did her father lie to her mother? Holly Sutton said her mother didn’t die of illness, so how did she die?
Ivy Summers clawed her hair in frustration, overwhelmed and agitated. A bout of head pain struck, and her hands began to tremble uncontrollably. She grabbed a small bottle of pills from her bag, poured one out, and quickly swallowed it.
After Sophie left, whenever she got nervous, she couldn’t control the headaches and rapid breathing. She’d seen a doctor about it, and the doctor said she was ill.
Ivy Summers thought to herself that she was indeed sick.
And not a mild case, either.
But she couldn’t fall ill; without Sophie, there were still Nathan and Leo to care for. If she fell sick, what would happen to Nathan and Leo?
Ivy Summers calmed down for a moment and picked up the notebook again.
How did her mother lose her memory, how did she die, and who was Connor Norwood? She would find out sooner or later.
...
Early the next morning.
Ivy Summers received a call from the old man, asking her to go to the hospital.
She thought it was about Nathan and Leo.
At the hospital, the old man was in great spirits today. He couldn’t get enough of looking at Nathan and Leo, and finally, his eyes turned red.
When Ivy Summers arrived, Nathan and Leo immediately became lively, rushing into her arms. "Mommy."
Seraphina Kennedy watched this scene, feeling upset. Nathan and Leo showed no vitality at the Lancaster Family, but seeing Ivy Summers brought them back to life.
When would Nathan and Leo treat them as they did Ivy Summers?
Ivy Summers gently touched Nathan and Leo’s heads and looked at the old man, "Grandpa."
"Ivy! Grandpa... Thank you, thank you for giving birth to three children for the Lancaster Family..."
Although Ivy Summers had deceived them before, the old man showed no blame.
Seraphina Kennedy snapped, "Dad, you’re thanking her? Because of her, we’ve been separated from our grandchildren for five years."
"Shut up."
Ivy Summers was willing to give birth to the children, raise them alone for five years, and raise them so well. What more could they ask for?
The old man was infinitely grateful that Ivy Summers allowed him to see his great-grandchildren during his last days.
Even though Sophie...
Thinking of Sophie made everyone sad.
After leaving the old man’s hospital room, Rachel Shaw, who hadn’t had a chance to speak, chased after Ivy Summers.
"Ivy Summers! You’re quite pleased with yourself now, aren’t you? Must be satisfied, having three kids to get close to Damien. What a scheme."
Ivy Summers didn’t even glance at Rachel Shaw and continued walking forward.
Rachel Shaw, angry and humiliated, forcefully tugged Ivy Summers’ bag, causing it to slip from her hand, and a bottle of medicine fell out.
Rachel Shaw immediately noticed the word "Diazepam" on it.
Rachel Shaw frowned, wondering what Diazepam was used for?
Ivy Summers took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "Pick it up."
"Why should I?"
Ivy Summers raised her hand, grabbed the back of Rachel Shaw’s collar, and slammed her hard against the wall before she could react.
Rachel Shaw cried out in pain and fell down, clutching her forehead.
Ivy Summers bent over, casually picked up her bag, and strode away.
Rachel Shaw was enraged.
"Ivy Summers!"
Just you wait!
Once she married Damien Lancaster, the first person she’d deal with would be Ivy Summers.
Rachel Shaw climbed back up, touched the bump on her forehead, and decided she’d go complain to Damien Lancaster!
...
At that moment, a Bugatti quickly stopped in front of Lancaster Group.
Inside the car, a man glanced at the Lancaster Group building and asked, "Hey, Little Mute, is Damien Lancaster really your dad?"
The little girl next to him had bandages on her head. She looked at the unfamiliar scenery outside the window, appearing a bit dazed.
"Hey? Little Mute, can’t you answer whether your dad is named Damien Lancaster? Just a single word will do."
"Yes."
Wow, she answered with just one word.
No need to be so thrifty with words.
The man got out of the car, walked over, and opened the car door. "Alright, your dad is here. You go find him yourself; I’m not going in."
The little girl got out of the car, her large eyes scanning her surroundings, looking a bit fearful.
The man pointed the way, and the little girl took a couple of steps before retreating and blinking her big eyes at the man.
The man saw what she wanted, "You want me to go in with you?"
The little girl nodded.
The man curled his lips, "Then call me brother."
The little girl pursed her lips tightly, looking at this man with blond hair, clearly unwilling to speak.
The man squatted down and helped the little girl straighten her clothes. "You little ingrate, I’ve taken care of you for so long, haven’t even had time to date, and you can’t even call me brother. Fine, go on, I really can’t go in with you this time. The Sterling Family and the Lancaster Family are sworn enemies, understand? It was kind enough for us to send you back without using you against your dad. If you don’t go, I’ll take you back. Scared?"
The little girl shook her head.
"Not scared? Looks like I’ve been too nice to you. I’m really fierce, you know." Kyle Sterling patted the little girl’s head with a doting smile.
The little girl was picked up by the Sterling Family. She was severely injured at the time, barely alive. After much effort to save her, she woke up not saying a word, except for one thing she uttered.
"Damien Lancaster, Daddy."
