Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 162: Becoming the Sterling Family’s Little Princess
CHAPTER 162: CHAPTER 162: BECOMING THE STERLING FAMILY’S LITTLE PRINCESS
Damien Lancaster ignored it and continued the meeting.
Half an hour passed.
Immediately, another message came:
Kyle Sterling: "Dad."
Kyle Sterling: "Dad, pay attention to me."
Kyle Sterling: "Dad, why aren’t you paying attention to me?"
Kyle Sterling: "Dad, please pay attention to me, hurry."
Damien Lancaster couldn’t help but furrow his brows again.
Seeing Damien furrow his brows, all the executives below didn’t dare to breathe.
The reporting manager from the administrative department held his breath, looking at the man sitting in the main seat, gathered his courage, and asked, "President Lancaster, is there anything wrong?"
This absolute leader of the company kept frowning during his report, which clearly wasn’t a good sign.
He was afraid he made some mistake that upset the powerful man in front of him.
Damien Lancaster picked up his phone, stood up and walked out, "Take a five-minute break."
Damien Lancaster dialed the phone.
He wanted to ask Kyle what kind of madness he was up to.
Meanwhile, on Kyle’s end.
Having just brought Sophie home, Kyle gave his phone to Sophie to play with, and leaned over to take a look.
Kyle was almost shocked again, quickly snatching the phone back, "Little mute, are you trying to harm me again?"
Sophie pursed her lips and smiled sweetly at Kyle.
Kyle hid the phone, "Don’t use this trick, it won’t work. Don’t call him dad using my phone, do you hear me?"
Sophie raised her little hand to cover her ears.
Not listening, not listening.
Kyle chuckled, reached out and tickled Sophie, "Cover your ears if you don’t want to listen, aren’t you clever?"
Sophie giggled in Kyle’s arms.
Old Master Sterling heard the noise and came down, wearing a traditional outfit, and despite his gray hair, he looked energetic.
Seeing the little one still there, the old master frowned, walked over and picked up a stick to give Kyle a whack, "You can’t even handle this matter, I asked you to send the little girl back, why did you bring her again?"
"Old man, you’re hitting me again, this little mute was bullied when sent back, so I brought her here."
Hearing Sophie was bullied, the old master dropped the stick, picked up Sophie for a thorough check, "How were you bullied, where are you hurt?"
Sophie shook her head and gave Kyle a thumbs up.
The old master grunted, "You mean this kid protected you?"
Sophie nodded, her little face earnest.
The old master smiled, sat on the sofa, hugged Sophie and placed her on his lap, "We won’t go back if you’re bullied, stay with our Sterling Family. How about I adopt you as my daughter? Anyway, your real father let you be bullied like that, we don’t need him, okay?"
Sophie blinked, puzzled, not understanding the old master’s words.
Kyle quickly interjected, pouting, "Grandpa, the generation gap isn’t right, she’s only a few years old, are you really going to adopt her as your daughter? If anything, she should be my daughter."
"Scram, can’t I have a daughter at my old age?"
Kyle saw the old master meant it, wanted to snatch back the little pink ball, "Grandpa, you can’t just grab a daughter because you’re missing one yourself."
"Kyle!" Suddenly a stern voice came from behind, "Shut your mouth."
The newcomer in a suit, standing tall and straight, possessed handsome features full of authority, looking at Kyle with serious dignity.
Kyle immediately clamped his mouth shut, realizing he was being presumptuous.
At the Sterling Family, you can say anything, but don’t mention the old master’s daughter.
The old master once had a daughter, the only daughter among his many children.
His biggest wish when he was young was to have a daughter, and her arrival undoubtedly fulfilled his greatest wish, he loved her dearly, everyone knew she was the little princess of the Sterling Family.
But fullness is followed by depletion, excess by overflow, perhaps too much love from the old master, too much protection from the family made her naive and reckless, believing everything outside was beautiful, leading to a fallout with the old master for a man and running off with him.
For twenty years thereafter, she never returned.
The Sterling Family never gave up searching for her but never found her again.
Meanwhile, the man has married a new wife, and has many children.
This matter eventually became the greatest pain of Old Master Sterling’s life, and the most taboo topic for the Sterling Family.
"Grandpa, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to mention aunt." Kyle immediately stood up straight, looking worriedly at the old master. The old master was old, and he feared he’d get upset over this.
Old Master Sterling lowered his head, his mood heavy.
The air instantly turned tense.
Kyle didn’t dare to speak, glanced at his older brother beside him, tugged his sleeve, hoping he’d speak for him.
Tristan Sterling ignored Kyle, looked at the old master and softly said, "Grandpa, Kyle didn’t mean it."
The old master’s mood remained heavy, making everyone feel uneasy.
At this moment, the little girl in his arms raised her soft little hand and gently stroked the old master’s cheek, in a soft voice saying, "Grandpa, don’t be sad, don’t be sad, brother didn’t mean it."
The old master’s heart softened, couldn’t hold back his sorrow, and tears streamed down as he hugged Sophie.
When his daughter was there, she used to sit in his arms and comfort him just like that.
No wonder Old Master Sterling liked Sophie, she resembled his daughter so much as a child.
The old master looked at the little ball in his arms, smiling, "Alright, not sad anymore. Little girl, would you like to be my daughter?"
Sophie tilted her head, confused, can you have two dads?
"Grandpa, are you serious? So everyone in our family will have to call her Auntie?" Kyle widened his eyes. It took a lot for her to call him brother, and now she’s Auntie?
The old man glared at him, "Do you have a problem?"
Kyle tugged at his lips, could he even bring up his questions?
Apparently not!
Sophie asked softly, "Can you..." have two dads?
Sophie spoke slowly, and when the old man heard the word "can," he immediately slapped the table and declared, "Okay, from now on, you are Marcus Sterling’s daughter."
Sophie blinked her eyes.
Old Master Sterling was extremely delighted and immediately instructed, "Tristan, go, call all of our Sterling Family members back, and then announce to the public that I, Marcus Sterling, have another daughter. In three days, I want to hold a grand banquet to celebrate."
Kyle thought it was shocking enough for the old man to accept this little girl as his daughter, and now he’s going to announce it to the world. Isn’t he afraid that Damien Lancaster will come knocking?
Tristan, however, remained calm.
The old man of their family was a daughter enthusiast. He heard from his father that when Auntie was born, the old man held a party for three days and nights, eager to tell everyone: He, Marcus Sterling, from then on, had a daughter!
"Should we invite the Lancaster Family?"
"Of course, why not? Our Sterling Family doesn’t hide anything we do, and besides, it was he himself who lost his daughter, who can he blame?"
Tristan had no objections, "Alright."
Kyle, "What if Damien Lancaster wants her back?"
"Then let him come and kowtow three times and bow nine times to ask for her."
Old Master Sterling laughed heartily. Ever since he lost his daughter, the old man hadn’t laughed like this in years.
Sophie watched the old man laugh, and she too broke into a smile.
Kyle scooped the little girl into his arms and helplessly pinched her nose, "Do you even understand what’s happening? Why are you so happy?"
Sophie didn’t know, she tilted her little head to look at him.
Kyle pinched her little face again, "Silly, happy for no reason. I haven’t been your brother for long, and now you’ve become my aunt."
What a situation!
Tristan took Sophie from Kyle’s arms and told her, "Little Auntie, don’t always let him pinch your face. He’s pinching it red."
Sophie generously offered her face, and Tristan pinched it too.
Kyle: ?
Alright, he adjusted pretty quickly.
Kyle picked up the phone beside him and saw several missed calls from Damien Lancaster.
There were also several question marks sent by Damien.
Plus a simple "Hmm."
Kyle’s face turned black in an instant.
Damn! Does this mean Damien Lancaster got a good deal out of him?
"Bro, should we tell Damien Lancaster that the little mute is with us?"
"No need, he’ll naturally find out in three days."
Kyle thought that made sense.
The old man snorted coldly, "Don’t call her the little mute, mind your manners, call her Little Auntie!"
Kyle looked at Sophie’s wide-eyed gaze, his mouth opened but the words wouldn’t come. Finally, after a loving kick from the old man, he gritted his teeth and said:
"...Little Auntie..."
Sophie smiled happily.
...
Damien couldn’t get through on the phone, but he felt there was something unusual about these messages and planned to visit the Sterling Family in person that evening.
After the meeting, Damien returned to his office, his gaze lightly swept over the woman sitting with her back to him, and he froze a little, unwittingly walking over, "Ivy?"
Rachel Shaw turned her head, looking at Damien Lancaster with a smile.
Damien frowned, his face instantly turning cold.
"Why is it you?"
Rachel Shaw noticed Damien’s sudden change in attitude.
She had deliberately changed her hairstyle and dressing style, trying to imitate Ivy Summers in hope that Damien Lancaster would like it.
She knew that this was humble, something an Eldest Miss Shaw shouldn’t be doing, but if it could make Damien Lancaster like her again, she was willing to do it.
But just seeing the sudden change in Damien’s eyes still pierced her heart deeply.
Forcing a smile, she said, "Damien, it’s me. You didn’t come home last night, so I came to check on you."
There was a hint of disappointment and anger in Damien’s eyes, "Busy."
Rachel Shaw stepped forward, trying to show the wound on her forehead, hoping he’d notice, "Damien, no matter how busy you are, you should take care of your health."
Damien did notice her bruised forehead, and in a low voice, he asked, "What happened to your forehead?"
Seeing Damien concerned about her, Rachel Shaw was delighted, lowering her head and gently covering it, "Ivy pushed me, but I believe she didn’t mean it."
Rachel eagerly wanted to see his concern for her, but unfortunately, there was none. Damien sat down, opened up the file in front of him, and calmly replied with a simple "Hmm."
Rachel Shaw was very disappointed, "Damien, Ivy is still very hostile towards me. I really want to be friends with her, but I don’t know why she treats me like this."
"Being annoying is your problem."
