Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 17: Damien, When Are You Getting Divorced?
CHAPTER 17: CHAPTER 17: DAMIEN, WHEN ARE YOU GETTING DIVORCED?
Ivy dared not have any eye contact with Sophie and just quietly stayed put, inexplicably getting snapped at by Damien Lancaster.
Ivy glanced at him, her eyes cold and emotionless. "Are you crazy? Why are you suddenly snapping at me?"
"If you hadn’t aborted our child back then, they would have been as big as her." Damien’s voice was deep and cold, but it wasn’t hard to sense his care about this matter.
Again trying to find out if she had a child.
Ivy slightly frowned, "You keep bringing up the child, acting as if you really care about my child."
"I never said I didn’t care."
A hint of sarcasm flashed across Ivy’s face. "Damien, don’t you know that some things don’t need to be said? Actions speak just as loudly?"
Damien’s gaze darkened further...
Sophie sat between the two, blankly raising her head and watching them argue back and forth.
Sophie’s chubby little face was full of a sad expression.
She didn’t want mommy and bad daddy to argue.
Seeing Sophie in the middle, Ivy felt sorry for the child and didn’t want to argue with him.
Second floor.
Old Master Lancaster stood there, his gaze deeply looking at Rachel Shaw.
He never liked Rachel; Old Master Lancaster saw clearly what Rachel truly was.
A woman who entangles with a man for eight years knowing he has a wife—what good could she be?
If not for the relationship between the Lancaster and Shaw families, he wouldn’t let her stay here.
"Master, the little child that the young master brought back is truly adorable," said the old butler.
The old master’s gaze moved over, and upon seeing that little pink lump, his eyes softened with affection. "What did Damien call that child just now?"
"Sophie."
"Sophie, a very nice name." The old master sighed, "I wonder if Ivy’s child back then was a boy or a girl."
"Master, were you testing Young Madam just now, or do you think she didn’t actually abort the child back then?"
"Considering Ivy’s personality, I don’t think she could bear to abort the child, but I can’t be 100% sure, after all..."
His own grandson was such a jerk.
In a moment of anger, Ivy might have acted impulsively.
Besides, he had investigated and really found no evidence that she had a child.
So more than being sure, it was about testing.
"If only Ivy really hadn’t aborted the child."
The old master truly wanted to see his little great-grandchild.
When having lunch together, the old master looked at Sophie, his gaze full of affection. "Sophie, eat more."
Sophie sat beside Damien, holding a bowl in one hand and a spoon in the other. Here, she was not timid at all, just like being at her own home, eating enthusiastically without stopping.
Sophie, if nothing else, was always number one when it comes to eating.
"Grandpa, Sophie likes eating meat."
"Alright, alright, eat meat." The old master laughed heartily, "Sophie, you can just call me grandpa."
"Ahem..." Ivy was so shocked she almost sprayed her food.
Damien raised his long eyebrows and looked at Ivy, "Do you have a problem?"
Ivy called the old master grandpa.
Sophie also called the old master grandpa.
That was crossing generational lines.
Ivy pulled her lips into a smile, "No problem, just accidentally choked a bit."
The old master smiled and reminded Ivy to eat slowly.
Ivy really wanted to ask Sophie properly how she got to Aethelgard and where Nathan and Leo had gone.
Were they determined to scare her, this poor mother, to death?
Rachel Shaw sat beside Seraphina Kennedy, constantly stabbing her food with chopsticks, her eyes fixed on Ivy and Sophie, as if wanting to pierce through them.
It’s a hell of a mess.
Dealing with one Ivy wasn’t enough.
Now there’s a sudden little brat helping Ivy against her.
It’s infuriating.
It’s absolutely infuriating.
After lunch, Damien had Julian Jacobs continue trying to contact Sophie’s parents.
Ivy originally intended to leave after lunch; before her mother’s death, her mother had left her a small villa, not large, just over a hundred square meters with three floors. Ivy intended to stay here for a while to finalize her divorce with Damien, so she planned to stay in that house for a while.
But now with Sophie at Damien’s, she wasn’t at ease leaving.
Ivy had to find a way to take Sophie with her.
Sophie wanted to play in the garden, so Ivy took the opportunity to go out as well.
Rachel Shaw stood hidden, glaring at their departing backs. Coming to stand by Damien’s side, she called, "Damien..."
Rachel’s pretty face was marred by the marks of two slaps, ruining her beauty, but adding a touch of pitiful frailness. Even just standing there doing nothing made others feel like cherishing her.
Rachel was kind and frail, often contrasting against Ivy’s assertiveness during conflicts, making others feel Ivy was bullying her.
So today, Damien thought the same.
"Damien, I’m sorry, I wasn’t good enough. If I could’ve tolerated Ivy more, I wouldn’t have clashed with her today, making the elders upset."
Damien glanced sideways at her, "You shouldn’t have mentioned Ivy’s parents."
"I..." Rachel bit her lip in grievance, "But she cursed me first..."
"Alright, let’s not talk about it anymore; it’s in the past." Damien said, the expression on his handsome face indifferent.
Rachel felt deeply wronged. Thinking about how Ivy mentioned they hadn’t divorced yet, she became anxious.
She moved a bit closer to Damien and started, "Damien, back when Ivy left, you didn’t have the chance to go to the civil affairs bureau for the divorce papers. Now while Ivy is back, you should go get the divorce papers."
Rachel spoke while observing Damien’s expression, testing his attitude.
Upon hearing Rachel’s words, Damien felt a wave of irritation.
He turned his head to look at Rachel, his icy gaze made her momentarily speechless, words catching in her throat.
Damien’s brows were black and deep, "Rachel, divorce is a matter between her and me."
Damien didn’t like others meddling in his personal affairs.
Rachel always knew this, but she never considered herself an outsider.
Yet at that moment, seeing Damien’s icy demeanor, she stood there stunned and bewildered.
It took a while before she composed herself, warmly saying, "Sorry Damien, I didn’t mean anything else."
Damien’s handsome face was stern and cold, and the emotions flowing in his unfathomable eyes left Rachel puzzled.
But Damien knew very well that he never intended to divorce.
Damien didn’t say anything else to her, stepping in the direction of Ivy and Sophie.
Rachel’s face instantly turned cold, she raised her hand to touch her face, still vaguely aching from the slaps.
Ivy Summers!
That damn Ivy Summers, when she wasn’t around, Damien never treated her like this. It was because she came back that Damien changed his attitude towards her.
No, she had to make Damien and Ivy quickly get the divorce papers, then drive Ivy out of Aethelgard.
Thinking this, Rachel took out her phone and made a call, "Go check if Ivy Summers has any relatives or friends in Aethelgard and send it to me once you find out."
