Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 20: Damien Lancaster Sees His Two Sons
CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: DAMIEN LANCASTER SEES HIS TWO SONS
Rachel Shaw sobbed quietly, looking at Damien Lancaster.
Damien Lancaster pressed his lips together and said nothing.
"Damien... it hurts, let me go..." Rachel Shaw tried hard to break free from Ivy Summers’ hand, but failed.
Damien Lancaster raised his hand to press down Ivy Summers’ hand, "Let go."
Ivy Summers turned to look at Damien Lancaster, her voice firm, "I really saw it. She just deliberately tried to spill on the child."
Damien Lancaster pondered for a moment, then said in a low voice, "She wouldn’t."
"Then why did the kettle tip towards Sophie?"
"That was an accident!"
Upon hearing Damien Lancaster’s words, disappointment welled up in Ivy Summers’ heart.
"Let go." Damien Lancaster intensified his voice.
Ivy Summers released Rachel Shaw’s hand; Rachel sobbed as if she was the injured one, feeling terribly wronged.
Ivy Summers stared at Damien Lancaster for a long time without speaking.
Damien Lancaster, with his foolish mind, still wanted to bring the child back to the Lancaster Family. If Rachel Shaw could target other people’s children, and if she found out this was her child, wouldn’t these few children in the family be in danger?
"Fine, if you don’t believe, then check the surveillance."
"Uncle, Aunt..." At this time, Sophie was brought out by Mrs. Grant with red eyes and nose.
Her small pants were still rolled up, revealing a small red patch on her plump thigh, making Ivy Summers feel heartbroken.
Sophie lifted her hand, trying to seek a hug from mommy and see mommy’s injury.
But the little one saw Damien Lancaster and was afraid he’d notice something, so she gave up on the idea and stayed obediently in Mrs. Grant’s arms.
Seeing the place where Sophie got burnt, a sudden sense of heartache welled up in Damien Lancaster.
"Young master, the child’s burn has been rinsed with water, but it’s better to see a doctor for reassurance," said Mrs. Grant.
"Hmm." Damien Lancaster took Sophie from Mrs. Grant, glanced at Ivy Summers, "You come too, we’ll check the surveillance later."
"Will the surveillance still be there when we return?"
Ivy Summers purposefully looked at Rachel Shaw.
Rachel Shaw bit her lip.
If the child’s situation wasn’t urgent, Ivy Summers would need to check the surveillance before leaving.
But since she’s spoken now, if the surveillance video is absent, then Rachel Shaw is essentially confessing.
Ivy Summers gave her a glance, then turned to leave together.
As they followed Damien Lancaster out of the Lancaster Family house, Ivy Summers suddenly saw two small figures flash by.
Ivy Summers was too familiar with those two small figures.
Nathan, Leo.
She knew they would come.
Damien Lancaster carried Sophie to the car first, while Ivy Summers dawdled outside, slowing her speed, and gave the two little ones a look.
Hurry up.
The two little ones didn’t understand what Ivy Summers meant.
Leo scratched his head, "What does mommy mean?"
Nathan, "Probably to follow."
"Oh, oh, then let’s follow quickly."
...
Arriving at the hospital, Damien Lancaster walked ahead carrying Sophie, while Ivy Summers trailed behind. Sophie lay on Damien Lancaster’s shoulder, exchanging glances with Ivy Summers.
Ivy Summers gestured to Sophie.
With one look back from Damien Lancaster, Ivy Summers immediately straightened up.
The registration done, they entered the doctor’s office.
Sophie wriggled out of Damien Lancaster’s arms, "Uncle, Sophie wants candy."
"See the doctor first, we can buy some after seeing the doctor."
Sophie blinked, "But Sophie wants it now."
Sophie grinned ingratiatingly, and Damien Lancaster looked at her little gluttonous face, then turned to Ivy Summers.
Ivy Summers spoke, "You go buy it for her, I’ll stay with her."
Damien Lancaster hesitated for two seconds, nodded, and turned to leave.
As soon as Damien Lancaster left, the mother and daughter patted their chests and let out a breath of relief.
While letting the doctor examine the injuries, Ivy Summers borrowed a charger from the doctor to charge her phone and called Ella Morgan.
Ella Morgan was still working at the company when she received Ivy Summers’ call. Holding the phone while organizing files, she asked, "Ivy, how’s it going? Did Damien Lancaster let you go?"
From her tone, Ella Morgan hadn’t realized that the three little ones had already sneaked to Aethelgard.
After Ivy Summers explained the situation there to Ella Morgan, Ella Morgan was almost scared to death.
"They... this... what should we do now? I previously pretended to be you to pick up Sophie, so in Damien Lancaster’s eyes, I’m Sophie’s mom, so I’m the only one who can pick up Sophie."
Ivy Summers sighed, "There’s no other way."
"Okay, I’ll come back."
"Ella, thank you, I’ll book you a flight ticket."
Ivy Summers hung up the phone, finally breathing out in relief.
Once Ella is back, she can take Sophie home.
The doctor finished examining Ivy Summers and Sophie. They had timely rinsed with cold water, so the injuries weren’t very serious, and the doctor prescribed burn ointment.
Leaving the office, Ivy Summers held Sophie’s hand and instructed, "Sophie, later you tell Damien Lancaster that you contacted mommy with your smartwatch, and that mommy will come to pick you up later, okay?"
"Okay." Sophie nodded, "Don’t worry, mommy, Sophie understands."
...
On the other side, Damien Lancaster went to the supermarket downstairs at the hospital to buy candy for Sophie.
Walking into the supermarket, Damien Lancaster’s tall and imposing figure, coupled with his stunningly handsome face and noble demeanor, seemed completely out of place here, drawing frequent glances from people inside the supermarket.
Not knowing where the candy was, Damien Lancaster asked a supermarket salesgirl, who blushed and led him to a shelf lined with various candies.
Damien Lancaster, not sure what kind of candy Sophie wanted, and considering the little girl wasn’t picky, grabbed several different kinds.
Nathan and Leo got out of the taxi and stood at the hospital entrance, their little brows deeply furrowed.
Since Ivy Summers and Sophie came to the hospital, they must be injured.
The pair anxiously rushed into the hospital.
After buying the candy, Damien Lancaster came out of the supermarket, his gaze drawn to the two running little children in front of him.
Two little ones, appearing about four or five years old, holding hands and running inside.
They ran swiftly, and as Damien Lancaster watched their backs, he frowned.
Perhaps it was his desire for children that made him feel the two little boys looked somewhat like him.
Driven by an inexplicable urge, Damien Lancaster quickly followed, entering the hospital where it was crowded, and suddenly lost sight of the two little ones.
Damien Lancaster felt a sense of loss.
Maybe he was over-sensitive, seeing every child as potentially his own.
No longer dwelling on it, he entered the elevator and pressed for the third floor.
Nathan and Leo, not knowing where Ivy Summers and Sophie were, grew anxious in their search.
"Ding" sounded the elevator.
The elevator door opened, and Damien Lancaster stepped out.
The two little ones hurriedly entering the elevator bumped into Damien Lancaster.
Damien Lancaster looked down, and the two little ones looked up.
