Unexpected Love: The Chief Auctioneer's Decision
Chapter 83: Ivy Shows Damien the Truth with the Recording
CHAPTER 83: CHAPTER 83: IVY SHOWS DAMIEN THE TRUTH WITH THE RECORDING
Ivy Summers slammed on the brakes, squinting ahead at the car in front, and saw Damien Lancaster getting out.
Damien Lancaster?
What is he up to again?
Ivy frowned deeply, "You guys hide in the back, Mommy will go check it out."
Ivy pushed open the car door and got out as Damien strode towards her.
He looked anxious, grabbing her wrist as soon as he arrived, "Ivy Summers, where have you been? I’ve been looking for you all morning."
Seeing him, Ivy’s eyes filled with resentment, "What do you want from me? Are you afraid I’ll run away, or scared I’ll end up like Rachel Shaw, chasing death?"
Damien felt her gaze, frowning, "I’m worried about your safety."
"Worried about my safety?"
To Ivy, this was the funniest joke she’d ever heard.
He was worried about her safety? It sounded like he cared about her.
Had he forgotten his cruel and heartless demeanor from last night?
Remembering his kick from the previous night, Ivy struggled to control her emotions, her breathing becoming rapid, her entire face icy as she fiercely shook off his hand, "Get lost. Save your concern for Rachel Shaw."
Damien’s eyes darkened, knowing she was angry, "I was in a rush last night. I’ll get to the bottom of this. If it’s her fault..."
"And if it’s her fault? Will you make her kneel and apologize to me?" Ivy aggressively questioned.
She expected Damien to be angry at this, but he wasn’t; he simply looked at her with dark eyes and said, "I’ll give you an explanation."
"An explanation? Damien Lancaster, how do you plan to account for the humiliation of having me kneel in front of Rachel Shaw last night?"
Ivy, a person who valued her strength, was kicked down and made to kneel before Rachel Shaw, who had wronged her and her child. How was he going to explain that?
Ivy let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Regardless, let’s talk after the truth comes out."
Damien handed Ivy’s phone back to her, "This is yours."
Ivy looked at the phone in surprise; Damien had found it?
She took it and immediately wanted to check if the evidence was still there, but it wouldn’t turn on, probably out of battery.
Ivy took a deep breath, put the phone away, turned, and slammed the car door, driving off.
Damien’s eyes were profound as he glanced in the direction Ivy had come from, remembering that it was Noah Scott’s home in Aethelgard.
So while he had been looking for her, she was at Noah’s place the entire time.
A coldness instantly enveloped Damien, and as he got into the car, he received a call from Seraphina Kennedy, who was anxious on the other end, "Damien, Rachel is missing. The Shaws can’t find her anywhere; they’re going crazy. They’re begging you to help find her."
"Is she still throwing a tantrum?"
"This is too serious to be just a tantrum; something must have happened. Please help search for her. I’ve been restless all morning, feeling like something’s wrong."
"Got it." Damien hung up Seraphina’s call and dialed Rachel’s number, but her phone was off.
Remembering Rachel’s terrified cries from this morning, he realized that maybe this time it was more than just a tantrum—something really had happened to Rachel.
...
Ivy didn’t take Nathan and Leo home; instead, she went to the hospital to stay with Sophie.
Sophie was worried sick about Ivy; the little girl nestled in her arms, crying her heart out, leaving tear and snot stains on Ivy’s clothes.
Sophie’s sobs were so heart-wrenching that even Nathan and Leo, who were originally brave and strong, claiming they would protect them, were about to cry too.
Ivy and Ella Morgan couldn’t keep up with wiping their tears, and Ella ended up bringing three bowls for them to cry into.
Seeing this scene, Ivy’s anger from earlier dissipated, and she burst into laughter.
Sophie, realizing her godmother wasn’t consoling her, was given a bowl instead, and her mother didn’t comfort her either, laughing on the side.
She widened her eyes in disbelief that the adults could be so cold-hearted.
This made her even more upset, and her tears fell like rain.
Ivy was in a bad mood and hadn’t intended to laugh, but their appearance holding bowls struck her funny bone.
Ivy and Ella laughed together.
Sophie cried until her little head buzzed.
Her tears flowed as they laughed heartily.
Sophie dropped the bowl, scrunched her little nose, and lifted her head, sounding adorably fierce, "Mommy and Godmother, stop laughing. This is a very sad thing."
Seeing the little one getting angry, Ivy and Ella pursed their lips, "Alright, alright, no more crying," Ivy said, opening her arms to hug Maisie.
"See, Mommy is fine now."
Sophie raised her small hand to touch Ivy’s face. Ivy’s swelling had reduced, but Sophie still noticed the faint marks.
Sophie tried hard to rub Ivy’s face with her tiny hands, very carefully, as tears welled up in her eyes again.
Feeling really sorry.
"Mommy, does it hurt?"
Ivy lowered her head, "Blow on it, and it won’t hurt."
Sophie pouted and blew on Ivy’s face, but ended up blowing hard while crying, spraying Ivy with her saliva.
Ella saw Ivy’s expression of disdain for her daughter’s drool, yet unwillingness to reject her daughter’s good intentions, and almost laughed herself breathless.
All afternoon, Ivy stayed with Sophie. At home, Ivy spent extra money for expedited repairs, so the living room was fully cleaned up in one day.
After dinner, Ella took Nathan and Leo home, and Ivy stayed with Sophie.
Outside, the sky had completely darkened. After lulling Sophie to sleep, Ivy went to the bathroom.
At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open.
As Ivy stepped out, she saw Damien, seething with anger.
Ivy frowned, "What happened again?"
Damien’s face was as dark as the night outside, as if it could drip ink.
"Ivy Summers, does making a fuss like this really amuse you?"
"What?"
Ivy didn’t understand, as her wrist was grabbed by Damien, "Come with me."
"Wait." Ivy was experienced this time; if Damien was this furious, something must have happened.
It must be related to Rachel Shaw.
Ivy grabbed her phone.
She was planning to discuss last night’s events with Damien.
The heavens favored her; Damien had returned her phone, and the recording was still there.
If Damien trusted Rachel so much, she would show him Rachel’s true colors.
